To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Very friendly staff. Even though the room was small, it was well designed with lots of shelving. Felt nice coming back to a warm, cosy room when it was so cold outside! Walking distance to plenty of restaurants, a good grocery store and lots of sights.

Excellent location - quiet street, near to the museum district, also easy walk to Jordaan district of city. We walked to and from the central station, but tram travel is easy too. Room and bathroom was perfectly big enough for the two of us, comfy bed, slept well! Friendly staff.

NetherlandsThe reception guy was very rude and required us to re-do the check-in process which we were asked to do online. Upon letting him know about the online process we did, he remarked that he is the 'boss' and this is the way it goes in his hotel for 30 years. He also said unfriendly things about other guests, especially noting how he doesn't like East Europeans. He was also rude to other guests while we waited in queue.
