Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

New ZealandI was very disappointed with the check in. The hotel had put a hold on my debit card a week before I was due to stay there. This amount was then unavailable for me to use. When we arrived at the hotel the receptionist refused to remove the hold on the card (which was the full amount of our stay) and of course this left me with insufficient funds to then pay the hotel bill. We asked her to remove the hold and release the funds and then she could charge me, but she wouldn't. We were standing there right in front of her so I'm not sure what she thought we were going to do, as we clearly needed the accommodation. In the end I had to get my friend who I was travelling with to charge it to her card, and before we'd even got to our room the amount had been refunded back on to my debit card so she could have done it the way that I had asked her to. This system needs to be looked at. It was very near the end of our holiday so I did not have much money left on my debit card.

SwedenAlthough, it may fulfill everything one needs; I wish they could have at least air conditioning in each room instead of a regular fan cause the room gets warm during the day and a remote control to television.
The room was clean, well-kept and the facilities were excellent. While I was staying for a short period, I also enjoyed the free breakfast. A very good location in the heart of Amsterdam!

The location, the staff were really welcoming, helpful and friendly. There was a lift and a luggage store. TV and a great shower!! They are budget rooms but for the price it was better than I expected!! A fan was provided which was really appreciated as it was a muggy evening. And the windows opened to a decent width!!

United StatesThey remodeled bathroom but the rest of the room needs work. Although watch out for the ledge around the shower so you don’t trip over it! Small bathroom and safety hazard. Bed was very uncomfortable and I could feel the springs! Floors are very squeaky so you hear yours and the people above and around you.
Location was the best part. That’s really what you’re paying for. Hotel is older but still a cozy homey feel to it. Daytime staff was nice. Remodeled bathroom was good.
