Excellent value for money, villa on the shore of the lagoon. Kayaks and boat hire available for rent. Breakfast is a specific la carte menu but other items from the menu cost extra. Breakfast quality was ok.

The pool was rather dirty (even after someone appeared to clean it) and the steps into the lagoon are quite unsafe and slippery. Overall I think they're not making the most of the place's potential.

They were not prepared for us, the room did not have shampoo, towels, or soap. They also seem to have some kind of septic issue, the place smelled of drainage the first day. Last, there was a ceiling fan above the shower, this is an electrical hazard.

We didn't have hot water the first day, but it was fixed within hours. There were only 2 options for the breakfast included in the price. You have to get a taxi to go downtown or walk 35 min.

The hotel is barely comfortable for elderly people. There are no ramps or so. My aunt couldn't reach to the beach front and stayed at the room.

On the lagoon. We loved swimming and relaxing on the deck. Easy, fast checkin. The staff were lovely and always ready to help, and helped us organise tours. Good breakfast. Two choices (continental or hot option of the day). Plus tea, coffee or juice. The fresh juices made for a great start to the day

It was very quiet at night, so it may not be the best place to stay if you’re more of a night owl and want to have a few drinks by the water. Everything got very quiet after 9:30/10:00 pm and even a small amount of noise sounds very loud when everything else is very still and quiet. Excellent spot for early sleepers though! It’s a bit far from town with little else around. This was fine for us, because we wanted to relax and be on the water, but it required a little extra planning for ensuring we had supplies for the room, and getting dinner (this would be okay with a car or bicycle though). Lastly, our room was on the side of the building closest to a large wall which largely obstructed the lagoon view (though we could still see it). The rooms on the pool side appeared to have a better view as they weren’t so near to the wall.

I had an excellent stay here. Great value for money with breakfast included and with a dock directly on the lagoon. Breakfast was a simple but filling affair, with a savoury or sweet option. There was also an a la carte menu selling other dishes at a reasonable price. There’s a small convenience store and small & well priced local restaurant across the road directly opposite the hotel, which is good to grab a few essentials since town is a little far without a car. The hotel offers kayak rental which is a great activity for a day/sunset. My friend and I watched the sunset and moon rise, which was incredible. Lovely staff who were always around to help with whatever we needed help with, and more than happy to call us a taxi or order food delivery in the evening. Definitely a great experience for us.

The rooms are old and outdated, and the one we stayed in was a little small. The free breakfast was just okay. It was lacking, but not terrible.

You have direct access to the lagoon. We were able to swim when the waters were calm. The view is phenomenal and it's a short ride to the center of town. The rooms have AC. They also allow dogs! And they have kayak rentals. I would stay again for sure.

The sewage smelled strongly from the bathroom and the shower with hot water did not have a lot of pressure.

The location is great! There's a direct dock to the lagoon! You can access the lagoon from it and spend the day there. It cannot get better than that! The personal was super friendly (shout out to Juan from breakfast) and the beautiful reception lady that called a taxi for us.

At check in, the young man accidentally overcharged us. I do not think it was deliberate at all. He had just checked in a large family who had the largest room on the property and did not clear the price when he checked us in. He did not know how to correct it, but said the manager would do so when she returned. When we returned from dinner, it was all credited back correctly, and then paid for correctly. BIG problem though is that there is only about a 1/2 inch lip on the shower area, so each shower floods the bathroom with water. There also is not a bedside table, either between the beds or beside.

This is seemingly a new hotel right on the laguna. The room was clean and spotless.

We were told at check in there was a restaurant for dinner but it was only open for breakfast-I expect that was because we stayed over Christmas, so it might not be the norm. The family dog and cat that lived on site were a delight.

Downsides: - breakfast not available until 8:30am - no kitchenette in rooms, and bringing your own food is not allowed as they have a small restaurant onsite. A small fridge would probably be appreciated by guests! - pool onsite could have been better serviced/cleaned

Unbeatable location right on the laguna was definitely worthwhile. Nice outdoor area by the water including some shaded areas near the dock, which was much appreciated with the heat. The rooms were simple but clean. Nice breakfast with generous portions were included. We relied on our rental car to get around, as the hotel is on the main highway, outside of the central area. Bacalar is a charming town that is worth exploring.
