Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesFront desk could be better trained and more service oriented. They intentionally made our room key not work to get us to come to the front desk…it was odd. The restaurant breakfast needs to improve the quality and range of selection of food as Oaxaca has great food but not at the hotel restaurant
I liked the views of the city, comfortable clean beds, lounge with great views and wonderful pools. The walk into the centro was only 12 minutes.

CanadaThe front desk team is a hit or miss. Some great employees, but some who definitely change the experience not for the best. The cocktail level is very low at the bar, especially considering how high and amazing the cocktail scene is in Oaxaca.
We loved the view from the room. We had a choice between quiet & garden view and loud & city view, and not one second we regretted taking the city view. It’s a city, so noise has to be expected. The room was very clean, spacious and comfy. Most of the personal were friendly and attentive. Special mention to the cleaning team and the portier team, they were all tremendous.

United Statesi had to change rooms becuase of the smell of mildew and the sliding glass door was not working. the second room had a foul smell in the bathroom and the air conditioner was old and barely kept the room cool. It appears the minimum is done to keep the rooms in the main part of the hotel functional, and they have not been renovated ever it looks like - carpets very very old. I think there are newer rooms in another part of the hotel so you may want to ask.
views, pool was clean and fresh, grounds were well kept, staff was helpful and friendly

United StatesNo complaints.
Access to the units was easy, close to the city, but nestled on the hillside and very quiet property. The food and bar offerings are delicious.

United KingdomThe hotel is definitely past it's best. We could never get the TV to work (not that we watch it a lot) but sometimes it's fun to flick around. Got the maintenance man up a couple of times, & he'd get it going, but the next time we'd turn it on, it wouldn't work. Gave up in the end. The air conditioner was pretty old and made a bit of a noise, so we didn't use it. The hotel is about a 15 min walk uphill from the town & you have to negotiate crossing a very busy road - Mexicans don't observe zebra crossing rules, so you have to be quick.
We booked this hotel specifically for the size of the pool, which was great. Ironically, we didn't get to use it as much as we wanted due to weather and busy days. We had a lovely view from our room, though we didn't have a balcony. We stayed 4 nights, and found enough to do. Take advantage of the free walking tour of the town, a well as visiting the botanic gardens - though at the moment, it is only open at specific times for tours. Visit the markets and the various art galleries in town too.

United StatesI don't have any complaints or anything that I would change about my stay at this property.
The staff were all very polite and helpful. The views from my room were lovely. I had a couple of drinks at the bar, and enjoyed watching the sunset. The king size bed was very comfortable.

United StatesBed sizes were small for a Superior room. We were 4 adults and so booked the biggest, but wish beds were bigger for a more comfortable sleep. Was hard to find working plug points for charging phones and laptops.
Great view, good staff, good restaurant location, tennis courts.

United KingdomShuttle service to/from town, be advised it doesn't run every day. The location where shuttle car stop is the busiest and they don't stop and wait, so you don't know if they have gone or haven't arrived yet! It really stressed me as I was traveling with a baby. I always ended up taking a taxi back after waiting for the service. I spent 10 days and only managed to use this service a couple of times.
Amazing views from the room. Spacious rooms and comfortable bed. Complimentary coffee / coffee machine and water in the room. Friendly staff. I will miss them!

United StatesThis hotel was obviously a big deal in it's hay day. Now everything is a little bit dated, a little bit worn but everything was in working order and very clean. The king sized bed had 3 pillows, moderate softness, same with the mattress and there was an extra blanket and pillow in the closet. The room had large window that unfortunately overlooked the parking lot, but with the window and drapes closed it was extremely quiet and no waking up with the sun. The tub is ginormous! Long and deep with plenty of hot water available. The bathroom is not as quiet as the window was directly over the entrance but it didn't bother us and seems like it would be exclusive to this room. The grounds are beautiful and spacious, hardly felt like we were in the City. We did not get to the pool, but it looks lovely. Lots of parking, even for our large van. The room service menu was very limited, but it's easy to have food delivered. The price was fantastic for the hotel and we'll definitely be back.

GhanaI would have wished they had tea as an addition to the free in-room beverage station.
They had a pretty big pool, which was a fun addition and the view from my room was priceless. I liked that they could easily arrange a taxi when needed and the food here was great.

United StatesThe staff were not very knowledgeable--didn't know where the closest bank/ATM was for example, and told us they couldn't arrange airport pickup for one of our group members (both seem like basic things a hotel would know/provide), and I would not leave valuables in the room (you also have to ask for a key for the safe). The rooms are kind of shabby, and have seen better days. To get into the main downtown, you have to cross some pretty crazy intersections
The grounds are lovely, the pool was fantastic, and the restaurant and bar were both pleasant, with nice offerings (they have an excellent caesar salad!)

United StatesA bit of a update or facelift
The view from our superior room was exceptional seeing Oaxaca City as well as the beautiful mountain scape. The grounds were a lush tropical paradise with a beautiful large pool to sit by and dip into. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and a real plus there was always a English speaking staff member at hand. Having a new chef I guess was an improvement from what I gather. We had ea excellent veg. soup, Caesar salad, and the best guacamole around. Music and the view from the bar made it even more fun :)

United StatesFirst, the restaurant was pretty disappointing - we had great food in the city, so it was a bummer not to have that at the hotel restaurant. Second, the location is not as close to the center as we expected. It is quite a walk to get into town and the hotel is on top of a steep hill.
Beautiful view from our room.

MexicoThe rooms with a city view are quite a bit larger and do have a nice view. Unfortunately the road noise is excessive and with the windows open, nearly unbearable.
Reception was very friendly and showed us a number of different rooms. The location is on a hill overlooking the city. The grounds are quite large and there is a nice pool although I found it a bit cold. We chose a standard room that faced the gardens and hillside behind the hotel. This was very quiet and a nice escape from the city. The walk to the city is about twenty minutes. Personally we preferred this over staying with the city.
