really beautiful, spacious property that’s been in operation for a few months. not a super social hostel, more private and tranquil. perfect if you’re looking for a place to relax or work. very comfy bed, well equipped kitchen, nice hot shower, clean bathroom, lots of areas to lounge and relax, attentive staff. i would definitely stay here again when in san cris!

Everything was fabulous

Beautiful property, heaps of open space and places to hang out, great kitchen, bathrooms clean with hot water, can book tours thru them at a good price, friendly hosts who let us check in early (7am!!) after an overnight bus, stored bags for us for the day after checkout, drinking water provided, can’t recommend enough!

It would have been nice for it to be a bit busier, though that is not the fault of the staff.

The facilities at this hostel are excellent. Hot showers, clean and a pool table! The staff are polite, friendly and very accommodating.

Tierra Alta was a fabulous place to stay. It was clean and spacious with very friendly and helpful staff. The bed was very comfortable.

The owner of Tierra Alta is a gem. He is there most of the time, cooking, deliberating with his staff. The light aird modern feel of Tierra Alta was a big plus for me as was the modern bathroom and kitchen.

Family run hostel in a quiet part of town. Equally so close (short walk (7 mins) distance to central plaza. Safe neighbourhood and family went above and beyond, even dropping us to the bus station. I found it very cold (and wasn’t prepared coming from much hotter climates in Mexico) but there were extra blankets. Communal kitchen and free drinking water available.

This hostel is incredible. It’s beautiful, clean, quiet and comfortable. The kitchen is amazing, there are sofas to relax on and watch TV, a room to work in and plenty of space to hang out and socialise. The father and son who run it are so friendly and nice. I was upgraded to a private room and it was extremely comfortable and nice. There is hot water all day and the bathroom is very clean. It feels more like a hotel than a hostal. And the location is great too, close to the centre and nice and quiet. Simply the best hostal I’ve ever stayed in

We enjoyed our stay at Tierra Alta and ended up booking extra nights. The beds were comfortable, great common spaces, hot water, and the hosts were very welcoming. It is walking distance to many great restaurants and the main square.

I was hoping to meet other travellers at the hostel but it was so new there weren't any other people around. The kitchen could have been a bit cleaner.

Very nice and new hostel, the owners are very kind and helpful. They helped me to organise the cab to and from the hostel. I was very lucky to get my room upgraded and they offered me coffee in the mornings. The bed was comfortable and the shower had hot water and there was good internet connection. When I got sick with food poisoning the owner was very helpful and offered me herbal tea. It's a great place for those who like privacy and wish to avoid the crowds.

Our issue was the other guests. The rooms all open on to a central courtyard. During our stay there were 2 men living there permanently, one played music from his phone from 7 am in the morning while he had breakfast. This happened on both mornings which woke us up (it’s meant to be a quiet area until 10 am). They both smoke in the courtyard, so it often all smells of smoke and worse of all - they both spend the whole day coughing and spitting. They spit on the floors, in the kitchen sinks and the sound of them spitting is really really horrible. It’s such a great hostel but ruined by these two men.

Excellent staff and owner is really nice. Really comfortable bed, well stocked kitchen and great shared bathroom facilities. Also has great breakout spaces with a pool table, seating areas and work areas.
