Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe buffet was soooo bad. Like soooooo bad. And the spa (though now i see thw word play of *optional* ) was not included, i booked almost exclusively for the spa. Which i was not able to enjoy
I loved the classes they offered like water aerobics, it was so fun, the singer who comes on tuesdays was also SO phenomenal, that being said, rhe buffet food is almost unedible, you DEFINITELY will want to make a reservation at the Italian restaurant every night if you are all inclusive, because it is very good! The buffet was soooo bad. Like soooooo bad. And the spa (though now i see thw word play of *optional* ) was not included, i booked almost exclusively for the spa. Which i was not able to enjoy. I still loved the views, and pools, and atmosphere, very closeby some ruins as well! And lots of cool animals you can see in the surrounding green areas :)

United Statesthat there was so beach service . definitely Would make the experience better. The towel service also could use some changes. We went a couple of times and couldn’t exchange towel for fresh ones because there wasn’t any to replace with.
the staff was friendly. Victor was so kind, helpful and greeted us everyday we saw him in the front lobby. definitely made our trip feel more personable

SwedenWhen you are at the room you here everything outside where the stairs are, you also hear from neighbouring rooms. Sometimes it felt like the room have walls of paper. The wifi was not working most of the time in the room. The tips are supposed to be included when you buy all-inclusive package. At the buffet it was quite clear tough that you don't get the same service if you don't tip. By saying that I still want to stress that we are happy with the service we got.
The food was very good The beach was amazing We are very happy with the service The kids club had very nice activities It was close to walk to the center The entertainment was nice and not too mezzy or noisy The following people were really amazing, they should get a raise: Odeth and Alejandro that served us at the Italian restaurant, Antonio at the Mexican restaurant, Humberto that helped us with the bags and maintenance, Alberto at the bar and Michelle at Kids Club.

United StatesDinner buffet was mediocre. Service at the reservation restaurants was extremely slow, and the Italian restaurant had tiny tiny portions. I ordered the Gnocchi, and there were 7 Gnocchi's in the bowl total. Room was on the small side. Our room faced a bar that was open till 2, so it was not quiet at night. Fine with earplugs in.
We loved the snack bar, where you can get pizza, hot dogs, quesadilla, nachos, etc during the day and take it to your pool chair or to the beach. Many things were just ok or good but not great, but for the dirt cheap price, we were fine with it. Location is great as you can walk or take a 5 min taxi ride into Playa del Carmen's 5th Avenue for shopping and restaurants.

SwedenWhile the rooms were nice, ours had a very leaky bathroom, but it was fully functional. Also, not much air circulation in the rooms, but there is an AC and fan. The pool was not always clean.
There were lots of things to like! The breakfast was great and so were the other meals. Great and friendly staff. Beautiful grounds and amazing beach. The kids loved it and felt very comfortable going around and taking part in the kids activities! The kids hosts especially Michelle and Sergio were fabulous! The pools were a good size. Super convenient and relaxing place. The garden was like a rainforest! Super beautiful! The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from a very cute city full of shops and life.

GermanyThe food is really not good. Don't know who one can screw up pizza that much, but most of the food is cantine-like. The fruit selection was nice though. Drinks were fine as well. Lots of stuff is available for additional payment only.
Clean and good rooms, very beautiful hotel with all the trees, looks like a jungle. Most employees are very friendly. Please be careful when booking an airport transfer with the hotel. I asked two times at the reception to book the transfer back to the airport and it was confirmed two times that it was booked. On the day of departure, however, nobody knew about it and I had to catch a cab (which wasn't that easy).

United KingdomWhen we arrived after nearly 24 hours of travelling, without sleep, the lady who welcomed us kept trying to sell us trips and tours and the 'special breakfast' (which I knew from other reviews was actually an intensive timeshare sales event) rather than letting us go to our room and sleep, then she got offended in the morning when my wife said no to the timeshare thing. We only had the breakfast package, the food was very average though the coffee was excellent. A staff member tried to get us to upgrade to the full meal package by saying that the main town was "25 minutes away" or would cost a lot in a cab. It was a pleasant 15 minutes stroll and one of the nearest restaurants was the best that we ate at.
We picked this hotel after seeing the pictures of trees around the apartment blocks, and the waterfall (which we found was artificial, but no matter). It was worth it - much nicer than the big, boring blocks nearby. And the cute little agoutis were everywhere, plus a couple of coatis. Like most hotels, the pools are smaller than the pictures suggest but the sea is warm and shallow (only up to my waist and I'm average height) all the way to the rope boundary. Just as our stay was ending, The Reef was installing water fountains for guests to refill the plastic water bottles they give you, which will hopefully cut down on the tonnes of waste this must create every year.

IrelandThe location was great, Playacar is a secured area within 20min walk to Playa del Carmen center. You can walk along the beach or though estates. The resort is beautiful, looks like you are in the jungle with all the palms and trees inside of it. We had a room with a pool and slight beach view, it was amazing to wake up each morning to see this view. The room was big enough with large wardrobe, tv, desk and balcony. Each room had a safe box, iron and hairdryier. Room was cleaned every day. Staff very nice and friendly. The buffet meals were very nice with large variety of options.

NetherlandsNo coffee available only during breakfast, lunch and diner. You could get some coffee but need to pay 40 mexican dollar extra in the lobbybar. The food is very boring and not so much variation, the mexican and italian restaurants are nice pre-reservation. Not too much entertainment
