Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaTaxi fares to and from the resort are an absolute rip off. There are no Ubers etc. so the taxis have a monopoly ( I called it the Mexican mafia and the driver just laughed). It’s a 6 km journey and they quote in excess of $30 to $40 USD.
Great hotel, very professional.

FranceWe had mangrove views but the room was overlooking old broken wooden structures in the plot next to the hotel, which made the view not as nice as it could have been. Maybe make sure you are on the right side until the hotel convinces neighbors to get rid of the ruins. The bikes you can use for free during the day also would deserve fixing or replacement.
The cenote is clearly the main thing about this hotel. It is as lovely as shown on pictures. The room was also very spacious, clean and super comfy. Good bedding, large shower, modern and high ceiling. The breakfast and cocktails are also nice. Great hotel staff.

AustraliaWe stayed for two nights and thought the food and cocktails was quite average, especially for the price. Granted, the prices are the norm in this part of town but the taste wasn’t exceptional.
Beautiful property with gorgeous rooms and an incredible cenote. Highly recommend.

FranceI would have liked to know upfront the mandatory 15% service fee on all the meals in the hotel (including breakfast). Also, the access to the beach was not the easiest (through other hotels).
The room and conditions of the hotel were amazing, very well maintained. The staff was very nice and helpful contributing for a good experience. The cenote is really beautiful and definately the distinctive factor of the hotel. Interesting combination of a more zen ambience in the morning vs. the party atmosphere in the afternoon.

United KingdomNo nothing.
Loved, loved, loved this Hotel. Everything about this hotel is amazing. The staff are so lovely and go out if they’re way to help you. Reception staff and Butlers know your name get the personal touch. The breakfast was absolutely amazing. We read some reviews before we went about the food but it was so good amazing. I’m guessing the bad reviews were from people that live an unhealthy breakfast like fry ups, lots of pastries unhealthy foods. We loved the breakfast it was healthy which was what we wanted for example avocado on toast, omelettes, chia pudding, granola etc. The food presentation was amazing. I think I saw people moaning about the fact that you get the free breakfast but gave to pay the 15% charge, complaining that breakfast isn’t really free. Honestly you get so much food and choices at this hotel for breakfast did free paying a 15% charge is nothing not much at all. The food is out of this world and the staff are so good on point paying thus small fee is nothing compared to the beautiful big breakfast which is included in your stay. We had lunch at the hotel as well on the odd day. The lunch tasted amazing as the presentation all very reasonably priced not expensive at all. The cenote was a wow factor so beautiful. The rooms were amazing we got a free upgrade to a junior suite with hot tub. Will definitely come back to this Hotel. The security staff were also very friendly, helpful as all other staff in restaurant and everywhere at this Hotel. We loaned bicycles from the Butler free of charge which was really good too. There is a supermarket shop about 10 min duen the road for any essentials you need to buy, extra water, snacks, wine for room etc. For us it was also lovely that you can get beach access via a hotel a few mins from the hotel across the road. The beach is beautiful and you get a free lounger, had a great vibe as it was busy and drinks etc reasonably priced. Had an amazing stay at Hotel Shibari can’t wait to go back.

CanadaI would have to say, how much staying there cost and needs frequent cleaning in the jacuzzi and pool. We stayed for 5 days and got the room because we got a good deal on it if you were to stay for 4 days with average pricing would’ve been over $2k CAD. My partner and I did find bugs (dead) in the pool and jacuzzi but we scooped it ourselves cuz it wasn’t a big deal to us.
The pool with the swim up bar is the best for introverted people, closes 1AM; hardly anyone uses it after 10:30pm so a lot more privacy if you’re staying with your significant partner and wanted privacy without having to stay in the hotel room. Honestly , no need to book a room with the private pool. Also liked how it’s an adult-ONLY hotel. - 10/10 Food was really good, only had breakfast since it was included in our stay. But I can say the flavour and the service was 10/10. Gorgeous Cenote - 10/10 Accessibility of ashtrays throughout the hotel. - 10/10 Room was a 10/10. Honestly , best place to take IG photos.

United KingdomDuring our stay we did have a small lizard run across the beam in our room during the night which made us jump! We then had a raccoon scale our building which was a surprise. The butler service immediately sent maintenance the following day to check there wasn’t any more lurking. Part of the authentic jungle experience perhaps! If I’m being super critical, the room could have been cleaner - particularly the bathroom where there were quite a few cobwebs. 15% service charge added to every order, albeit drink or food - including the breakfast, seems a bit excessive and unnecessary in a 5 star hotel with already expensive menus.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the full, friendly team who handed us cold towels & a mimosa which was fabulous! Room keys are also on a woven, string bracelet which were great for swimming etc rather than plastic bands. The setting & surroundings of Shibari are hard to fault - it truly felt like an oasis tucked away from Tulum. We loved it so much we actually spent 90% of our time enjoying the hotel! The natural cenote is breathtaking and a dreamy venue to relax on holiday. Our room (Junior Suite with Garden View) was beautifully designed with a modern/minimalist vibe. We were situated right in front of the Jazzuci area which had an amazing view. The room had every amenity you could ask for & the butler service via WhatsApp was also super responsive. At one point we fancied a beer whilst sat at the jacuzzi bar & after sending a quick message, a waiter appeared promptly. The Atta restaurant offers a small but high quality menu. On our first day we treated ourselves to a full lunch - I say treated as for guacamole, a burger & shrimp chipotle with 2 cocktails it came to £112. The prices are rather high but it seems that everywhere in Tulum is expensive - particularly alcohol! Breakfast is delicious with so much choice for 3 courses included with our stay, along with fresh juices and coffee. Gorgeous view from ATTA over the cenote. I also attended the Thursday 9:30am yoga class which was great. I’m by no means a Yogi but really enjoyed the pace of the class with a gorgeous studio.

United KingdomThe walk to our room is a bit tricky due to the pebbles. Maybe they want to lay down some big stones there. Breakfast was good but not enough selections if you stay for more than two nights I'd say.
Fantastic one of a kind hotel. Especially due to the beautiful cenote they got. The staff was amazing and go above and beyond to accommodate us. Went on weekdays in April and the cenote wasn't too busy. So that was perfect for us
