Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

IrelandEverything was so good that it’s hard to find things that I didn’t like. The restaurant/bar is a little pricey, and the foyer bar doesn’t serve wine… nothing that would stop me coming back!
Solo female friendly. I felt so welcome & safe. The rooms & facilities are exceptional. The staff are incredibly friendly & helpful. The location is excellent & every aspect of my stay was a 5 star standard. Already planning my next visit! The staff are the most attentive & engaged I have ever experienced in a hotel. Their attention to detail, organization & smiles all made my stay even more enjoyable. The rooms are immaculate and the added touches of turn-down service and welcome gift are so lovely. The Cenote is spectacular and the area was constantly being cleaned and made welcoming for guests. I can't say enough about how great Shibari is. A must-visit!

Brazilterrible experience, I hated the hotel, everyone was very rude, our jacuzzi wasn't working, we changed rooms after a lot of insistence and the problem remained! When paying the restaurant bill (which costs a fortune), they wanted to charge more than 25% in fees, even for the breakfast that was included, terrible experience, not worth it

United StatesJacuzzi did not work, I paid extra for it - i booked during high holiday season so the price is not cheap to be met with not functioning amenities. The butler has come to tell us it is not her fault or ours it is the machine malfunctioning yet the hotel manager conveyed to me that it was my fault for not following the correct steps to turn it on, even though we did - the manager compensated my 2 days loss of value with a cheese board!!. TV had no channels, they had a USB connected with 6 or 7 movies stored in it. The breakfast options were very limited, restaurant staff were overwhelmed and under staffed - their response rate is not at par, we have to wave and raise our tone to get their attention or to remind them of our request. The staff did not assist us with any tour recommendations or coordination. I stay at resorts and pay above average for extraordinary experiences, this one was no difference than 3 star in terms of service. Side note, the cenote is natural and is not heated so it is mostly cold - most people were sun bathing and not swimming.
Property is in great location, safe and very clean.

GermanyUnfortunately quite a bit: - The smell (we did not use our Pool because the smell outside is unbearable) - The music by the whirlpool is extremely loud - The Cenote was closed - The Service is not appropriate for a hotel of this price. Not sure what our Butler was about but pretty sure we were just supposed to tip him for showing us our room. The waiters don't seem to be trained on higher hospitality and the automatically applied 15% tip does not help. I had to ask for stuff at breakfast multiple times. The waiter only really made an effort after our breakfast ... trying to sell us Cocktails. FYI: With USD 400 for a night it is simply too expensive. Shibari means bondage and the hotel is swinger themed.
The hotel has some outstanding facilties: - Nice facilities - Big room with own Pool - Food at Breakfast

FranceWe were disappointed not to be able to use the cenote throughout the week as the water was dirty, and since the hotel has no beach access it didn’t leave us many options to swim. The jacuzzi area is very nice and intimate, but quite small - I guess it pairs well with the cenote, however when it is the only option, its not the best. Perhaps they could partner with a nearby beach for times like these. Regarding the service, we appreciated having contact with the butler over whatsapp, that was convenient. However, even before our arrival we saw room for improvement. Firstly, the transfer from the airport that was arranged by the hotel was an hour late and the car was very uncomfortable. Later, the butler failed to assist us with bike rental. Housekeeping did a good job inside the rooms, however seeing their carts left outside for the entire day and even through the night, is just unacceptable. Generally we got some stressed vibes from the staff, noone was rude, but I couldn’t say their attitude was ward and welcoming. Also at this level of hotel, I expected to have a wider range of amenities on offer, such as bikes, classes/ceremonies, partner beach at least for access/discount, etc. Note that since the hotel has no beach access, you have to pass through other hotels, and some ask you to pay for access/ drinks or smth. So you end up paying extra. The closest public access to the beach is about 20min walk. Moreover, a couple of annoying things in the room. Our fan would switch on randomly by itself, at night, waking us up. This happen repeatedly - very annoying. There are not enough hooks to hang towels and bathing robes. The fact that the TV doesn’t have apps like YouTube and Netflix, but offers 5 movies on a USB is just laughable in this day and age.
We were very pleased with the hotel infrastructure and room amenities, it is beautifully designed, isolated from the noisy road and fits elegantly into the natural landscape of Tulum. The restaurant is beautiful and the food was very good, however breakfast options are somewhat limiting, especially noticeable after a few days at the hotel. I do want to note how beautifully the rooms were built and decorated; the bed is very comfortable and the shower is great.

United KingdomUgh. Mixed feelings about this hotel. If you’re coming for the cenote, don’t waste your time. It’s unlikely to be open. Before I went, I read a few reviews that the cenote was closed for some reason or the other. Figured it wouldn’t happen during our stay. I was clearly wrong. It was closed for natural cleaning. The rooms look exactly as pictured and a lot of intention was put into the decor, although they will try to get away with not cleaning the plunge pool. I had to call thrice before it was drained and cleaned. I had a butler who i saw once when checking in and never again. Didn’t even provide us with a way to reach him. I’m not sure what his purpose was. The driver of the shuttle bus provided by the hotel to the airport was INCREDIBLY rude to us as he was communicated an erroneous time and then proceeded to drive incredibly recklessly. I have a full video of him driving at top speed while clearly WhatsApping. It was crazy! Hotel is in good walking distance to several restaurants. However they will try to sell you on an overpriced taxi. Asked the night front desk about going to a restaurant which a staff had earlier told us was a 7 - 8 min walk. The night staff said it was far and a taxi would take us for $30!!!!!! Imagine that? Thank goodness for google maps! We decided to walk. It indeed took us 7 minutes!!!!! Overall, I would not return here and would not recommend it for the combination of things that happened, especially at the price point I paid (nearly $500 for one night excluding meals and transfers) — although this is such a stunning, peaceful hotel and the souvenir soil catcher they provide is a cute touch. Not sure if they just opened but it seemed largely empty despite its beauty.
Stunning. Good location, Fernando at the front desk was pleasant.

The property is absolutely perfect, it was designed like a top resort in Maldives and has a beautiful Cenote(really wow). The staff are super friendly, but it’s just not a well oiled machine … maybe because new, we didn’t pay that much but if I was paying £5-600 a night in peak season I don’t think it’s up there with the service level for that price bracket. If you go to the Cenote you kind of have to hunt people down for a drink. The breakfast is very weird, on the menu “eggs any style” - first day we asked for poached egg - we were told they would need apparatus and ingredients not currently available to make this. Day 2 I tried boiled eggs - was told that would take 30 mins . I found a struggle to find anything to order that wasn’t just with too much cheese for early in the morning. The juices however are great. The Cenote also does bring a lot of mosquitoes to the property (they do their best to fumigate), I got bitten 20-30 times on our last night… The food is not cheap and the wine options the cheapest bottle is $100usd and it sky rockets From there…with some crazy prices which don’t seem to fit the menu … the food it’s nice but it’s not Michelin standard. I will reiterate the staff are all super friendly - I just think a bit of work is needed to bring it all together.
