Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI asked the front desk for a beach towel to use by the beach at the back of the property. The price for the towel was $100 pesos, which they returned when you returned the towel. After finding a chair in a shady spot that overlooked the beach, a woman approached me and informed me that the beach chairs had to be rented from Marea, the “beach club,” which is the onsite restaurant. I thought it was strange that I had to pay for a chair, that was about 200 feet from the water… on a beach where swimming is prohibited due to the rocks and waves, at the very hotel that I was staying at. I agreed to get up from the spot, and decided to move to the pool area. Again, I found I nice spot to sit that was shaded by one of the numerous palm trees that were scattered across the property. After about 20 minutes, the same woman approached me and, again, informed me that the pool chairs needed to be rented from Marea. So, even though the property has a pool and is on the beach… you have to pay the Restaurant/Bar/Beach Club to use any of the chairs at the pool or beach. Eventhough I specifically informed the employees at the front desk that I was going to be sitting by the beach, no one ever mentioned that the beach or pool chairs needed to be rented/reserved.
The staff were helpful. The location was close to the beaches, shops, and restaurants. The property had different daily activities and everyone was friendly. Breakfast at Marea, the onsite restaurant/bar/beach club, was always delicious.

United StatesNot very social, it was almost empty when I was there. They also had some families with children there. The hostel would host some events but barely anyone would show up, kinda dead. But I think the entire island is like that. If you are looking to chill is the perfect place
Very nice facility

FranceThere were drinkable water cuts every day and wouldn’t refill it more often… There were no window in the bedroom so everything was dark and we couldn’t aerate so it stank, especially in the bathroom. Also, the lockers couldn’t fit our bags and were in the beds so it was annoying to access and we kept bumping into it while sleeping.
It’s perfectly located and the common spaces are the best we’ve ever seen. They even have a cinema room! You have access to the beach and there’s an amazing pool.

United StatesWould be nice to have some indicator of in use/occupied or vacant on the door of the shared “private” restrooms upstairs.
Location is tucked away in a quiet corner but still close to beach and main part of town. The private room was nice to have some space.

IrelandWe had a bit of confusion at breakfast which led to us not getting to eat and we feel as though it was resolved pretty poorly by all staff, and this really left us disappointed and with a bitter taste of the place upon check-out
The experience of this Selina is beautiful, the beach view upon arrival, the cool reception, and through to the paradise which is the pool, bar, and huge chill out zone. The teepee was so cool and unique, and very comfortable with great use of space and cool ideas.

United KingdomThe room was very dark even during the day and the storage per bed was pretty limited (one narrow drawer and one locker above the mattress for which you need to bring your own lock). There was a leak from the bathroom ceiling right above the toilet which seemed to recur and need fixing every day while I was there - this is probably a fire hazard given the wiring in the ceiling. The price is also very steep, it was the most I paid per night for accommodation for all my time in Mexico and was the only time I stayed in a dorm as otherwise I was sharing hotel rooms and airbnb's with friends. The facilities were very nice but I've stayed in equally nice hostels for much less.
Very nice facilities and great location: in town but not along the main street (which would be very loud), straight line walk to north beach in a few minutes and a less than 10min walk to the ferry. The hostel grounds and shared facilities are very nice and everything is recently done up and well looked after. The dorm beds are very comfy even if a little bit claustrophobic.

CanadaNot always having free clean drinking water. The beds were very small with your locked box inside your bed, so you would hit it every time you get into your bed and in the middle of the night. And the room had this gross smell the whole time.
The location, the friendliness of the community the hostel brought, and the hammocks all over.

CanadaPrice per night for bunk in dorm. Size of dorm for # of beds. Too small, too cramped. Inconsistent food prep/appearance by restaurant/vendors on site. Prices to high for hostel / simple hotel venues in comparison to nearest by restaurants. Unsafe entry and exit to/from swimming pool, lacking hand rail. Fence separating from the beach. Lack of more and wider hammocks.
Realistic description. Clean and apparently well maintained. Security. Wi-Fi well working. Large clean kitchen with sufficient implements. Library! Music was kept at a pleasant volume. Tour desk Diving shop Location. Friendly, helpful staff. Beds comfortable and good bedding. Separation curtains on each bunk and individual lights and charging plugs. Well behaved DogOwners! allowed! Cross section of international guests.

CanadaThere is a private beach bar next to the pool that owns 2 hang out areas... so it looks like there's lots of room to chill but I got kicked out of the tables and the hammocks twice. The rate is already very expensive ($50CAD for a large dorm) so you'd expect to be able to hang out anywhere without buying drinks. Also, the one toilet for my dorm was out of toilet paper for a long time. And they had minimal available drinking water, which is pretty standard for hostels of this price/style these days.
Great location. Hostel backs onto the beach so you have great views. The morning activities were great- I did yoga and Tai chi. Blackout bunk curtains and comfy beds.
