Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe bedroom did't have good reading lights, nor a master switch at the bed to turn all lights off. Lots of random switches which didn't seem to do anything. Minibar fridge really didn't have much effect. But nothing of serious note! Taxis in to town were extremely expensive (USD 25 each way for a 10 minute ride), as they had a monopoly. For an expensive hotel we were surprised there wasn't a shuttle available.
Breakfast was excellent. Freshly made, two courses to choose from a menu with good variety. Service was always spot on. Extremely quiet location, secluded private beach, away from the main drag and partying of Tulum town, and only 22 rooms in the hotel so it never felt crowded. Lovely private beach, free use of kayaks, SUPs and snorkeling. We had a room with a private pool on a terrace above. Amazing views and we loved watching the pelicans glide overhead!

United StatesThe lunch and dinner were not the best but they were still good. Great presentation but our fish has a ton of bones.
Isa the hostess was fantastic. And the servers Miguel were very hospitable. The food sometimes was not the best but breakfast was amazing! We chose to go outside the resort to eat and explore the rest of Tulum.

United StatesFood VERY gourmet. Not our favorite. Beach is small but private. That was about the only thing to not like about the place.
The rooms and the resort are so luxurious. Our room was very well arranged. So comfortable. Small resort not many rooms. Pool is fenominal. If you stay there stay in a swim up room, you have your own private sun deck and patio. It really is an oasis

United StatesThe beach. We went during sargaso season. We couldn't enjoy the beach. Their pool is really good and it connects all over the hotel.
The hotel has an outdoor feeling. I enjoyed how chill and relaxing the environment is. I mostly like their pet cat 🐈 Nerea, she is so sweet.

We just said goodbye to Hotel Nerea Tulum after a delightful 4-night stay, and we simply had to rave about our experience! The hotel's focus on wellness, their use of locally sourced ingredients in the restaurant, the incredible food, the inviting pool, and the exceptional staff all combined to make our trip truly unforgettable. Despite having only 22 rooms, we received personalized service from every single staff member. Jesus and Isabella at the front desk were always proactive and quick to address any questions we had before and during our stay. Jesus even arranged for a boat to pick us up at the hotel pier for a private snorkeling adventure to see sea turtles and the breathtaking reef right in the hotel's backyard. Our morning snorkeling excursion with Edwardo was absolutely incredible. The bar and restaurant staff quickly became our friends, with Francisco standing out but truly the entire team was fantastic. The food was not only delicious but also offered a variety of healthy and fresh options at every meal. The massages on the hotel pier were top-notch. Our room was spacious, with a luxurious shower, and having direct access to the beautiful pool from our bedroom was a dream. It's rare for us to say this, but we are already planning our return to Hotel Nerea Tulum. If you're seeking a relaxing getaway, this is the place to be.

United KingdomThe food is highly priced. It would be good to have healthy snacks available to buy or in the mini bar.
The swim up pool is amazing and the food is exceptionally good but that does come at a high price. The beach is perfect for exploring and looking for shells and the pier makes it ideal to get into the water without navigating the rocks!

IndiaDue to a lot of seaweed on the coast there was a strong smell in the air. Could have more food options. Portion size of salads can be improved. Experienced some red ants in the room. May be special rates for clients for cabs to the city.
Amazing location with a private beach Comfortable rooms with majestic views. Great hospitality, kudos to the staff. Edwardo and Isabelle were truly amazing XOXOXO 🤩🤩🤩🤩 We would definitely go back sometime soon. Bonus- Do try the pizzas at the sister property.

United StatesRooftop pool water heater has to be started by staff which is a bit of an inconvenience if you want to get that started at odd times. Rooftop property does not have a bell so getting room service while being in the pool is a bit inconvenient.

BrazilThe only downside I can think of can be the location, depending on your plans: (1) there is a construction happening right next to the hotel on working hours - this didn't interfere us at all, since we were out visiting Tulum and other attractions, but if you're planning to spend the entire day at the hotel, it might bother a bit and, (2) the hotel is not at the heart of Tulum or the hotel zone, so if you are looking for a busy nightlife, you will need to head towards the city. If that's not the case, the hotel offers a quiet and peaceful night ;)
The room's view was simply amazing! Waking up to the sound of ocean water and feeling the breezy Mexican wind was super relaxing! The hotel's infrastructure is really good! Jesus was really helpful during our stay - he gave us tips about cenotes and places to visit, and even lended us his own charger for a day while we got an outlet adaptor.

United KingdomHonestly, not a lot. Expensive bar/food compared to other places, so we drank and ate up/down the road a fair bit, but this was a pleasent experience. Was a pain having to sign off a bill for breakfast even when included, this should definitely be changed. They should just include 20% tip to pay staff onto the bill or something, this makes mornings frictional.
The staff were incredible, especially Ben, Fernando and our host Isabelle took care of us from start to finish (even afterwards as a nightclub fixer). Perfect location, much nicer than being on the hotel zone on the beach on other side of town... but let's be clear this is TAXI ONLY into town/even further for nightclubs etc, not walk or bike as there is a huge busy dual carriage way in between, but taxi doesn't take long (although taxis in general are absolutely extortionate). Great food and exceptional food at Casa Altemar two doors down. Access to the other two properties was really nice to mix it up at dinner. Close to a really nice cenote. Snorkelling boats to the reef nearby, with a great value for money bar/cheap eats. The beach and jetty was amazing. TOP MARKS!

GermanyThere are two solid points in which we were disappointed. The hotel itself and especially the food and the drinks were much too expensive. A glass of wine costs 300 pesos - while in a nice restaurant in Tulum it was 110 Pesos. Sorry, three times the price just because of a beach view...no way. The food was nice, but it some it all tasted the same. Nothing to write home about and for what it was too expensive. Secondly: everybody is very friendly, but service was slow and unreliable. For breakfast starter and main you had too calculate with about an hour. Then drinks or the milk were forgotten. Considering prices of 300 US-Dollars for the room this is not really acceptable
It is hard to write something about the hotel...in a way it was good, but there are some cons. Firstly this is a beautiful location, very private on the beach. It is easy to reach (btw the road on the last few meters isn't as bad as mentioned in other report. I mean we are not in a city with paved roads!). It feels good to be away from the masses in Tulum. There was a construction site next to the hotel, which was new. So the very kind hotel manager, Luis, gave us a new room in the sister hotel Alea (very good!) a few steps down the road. That was very kind!

The staff was amazing. We woke up late one morning and even tho we were about 30 mins late for breakfast the staff welcomed us and the cook still served us omelettes. I appreciate everything the staff does to make your stay enjoyable and pleasant. The food was always amazing, fresh, and delicious. No complains what so ever. I will be returning sooner than later.
