Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandThe castle looks like it's from a fairytale, the pool is also super nice. I stayed in an AC shared dorm, the beds were big and comfy. I really enjoyed my stay. It seems like this is a family owned business and the family is super friendly and would help you with whatever you need. Only be aware that this is not in the city center.

NetherlandsNothing really, i don't mind walking 10 min to the centre of Palenque.
The buildings architecture in general, and the pool and terras. Very nice design. Some interior could match the style of the building better, like the kitchen and the reception.

New ZealandThe fridge was very full and a bit dirty.
It is as beautiful as the pictures are and so unique. Personally we thought the town of Palenque was average but this accommodation made it worth while. The rooms are comfortable, the aircon works great, the bathrooms are HUGE, and the staff (including the pets) we’re amazing :)

United KingdomI just hope that there is free coffee in the morning (there was no breakfast). The hostel is a bit far from the city centre but taxis are cheap (3 dollars one way) though I just walked from hostel to the city centre when I was there (30 mins). Anyway, very few hostels in Palenque so this hostel is a good choice if you don’t mind the distance.
There is a pool and a nice kitchen which doubles as a common area. The AC works well at night (and some hours during the day) so it is a big relief primarily in Palenque’s really hot humid weather. The staff and the owner were very helpful and accommodating.

CanadaIt's a bit far from the center of town where all of the shops and restaurants are, especially if you decide to walk in the heat
Friendly, helpful staff; large, clean, well-kept room with a huge bathroom; wifi worked really well in my room; the pool was refreshing after a long, hot day at the ruins

FinlandToilets weren't very clean. Also I got my laundry washed by the staff but unfortunately a couple of my tops came back bleached, or I don't know what had happened to them but they had these yellow bleach like spots all over. The hostel is also quite far from the centre BUT there is a colectivo coming and going right in front and taxis weren't expensive either. If you have the energy to walk in the heat, thought, it's a beautiful walk
The hostel is very unique. I spent a lot of time there because it was nearly +40 degrees outside. The dorm had AC and there was only one person apart from myself, so it was quite calm there too. Enjoyed the pool and tables outside. Staff was super friendly!!

New ZealandA little far from the city, but when I took a day tour they were happy to pick me up and drop me off from there.
It was a beautiful castle with round comfortable rooms and a pool and every detail was adorable. There were turtles as well as two doggies and two cats 🥰 the staff were lovely and it was quiet because of being the off season but I liked that.

GermanyThe AC seemed to be lacking maintenance, because it was really struggling to cool the room down, so it was a little hard to sleep with the heat from the day during our visit in May. The place is a little off downtown if you want to grab dinner instead of cooking yourself, but this fact is known when booking and was not a real problem since we had a rental car.
The castle is a lovely place and beautifully renovated, the garden is almost like a little paradise with the pond, the pool and pleasant music playing. The hosts were very kind and polite and even spoke English. Everything is kept very well and the entire hotel and the room was very clean. There is a fully equipped shared kitchen and enough seating on the terrace. You can use a fridge and have a dispenser for filtered, cooled or hot water. The neighbourhood was quiet and felt safe, parking is available on the side street in front.

Netherlandsthere is just one bathroom upstairs. there are multiple showers downstairs at the pool. it could use a bit more atmosphere. plastic tables and chairs and it feels a bit empty in some places.
stayed here for 2 nights and honestly really enjoyed my stay. the girl at reception just speak Spanish but she is really kind and happy to help with anything. the son of the owner is always walking around with a big smile on his face. My bus was a little later on the day, I could stay and use the pool, shower and hang out there the whole day. You get a towel and there’s free cold (or warm) water refill. also the dogs are tooo cute and always in for a cuddle session. all and all I felt really welcome!

IrelandDue to the layout of the house/castle, I didn't have a bed in an actual room, but sort of 'out in the open' on a landing across from the balcony on the top floor, so everyone could walk past it. (There is a dorm, though.) But I didn't mind the bed in the end. There were no curtains at the beds, but I helped myself with towels for some privacy. The house is very light-filled, which is lovely. However, without curtains on the windows, it means that you will wake up very early in the morning. There is no sink in the kitchen, so you have to walk to the one in the courtyard outside.
I absolutely loved this little Cinderella-esque castle in an unlikely place like Palenque ;). It's a beautiful house with lots of rooms/landings and big windows. The owner and staff were lovely! Very nice and helpful. Loved the 2 little dogs and the cats. The pool is great. Really beautiful house!!! It is a bit far from Palenque town, but more relaxed due to that. It's definitely too far to walk to the town, especially in this heat, but there's a shop very close by, or a taxi costs only around 40 pesos.

United StatesMy room was near the front entrance and was a bit noisy with guests, music, dogs, chickens, etc. I think the walls are just a bit thin. The bathroom had a huge window with no curtain so I felt uncomfortable to shower. I think an additional lock on the door to the room would also improve my feeling of safety as a solo traveler.
The property was unique and had cool decorations and a decent sized pool.

GermanyThe dorms aren't proper rooms, but you rather stay in an open space next to the hallway. They told me later, that they were changing a few things, so that might be different by time. A door would be nice. Also I found a bedbug in my bed the next morning and was bitten my it as well. They didn't seem to know bedbugs when I told them about it (since I had to show them a picture and explain what that meant). So I'm not sure how well they'd take care of it. Unfortunately apart from me, there were only one or two more guests, when I was staying there. So it wasn't easy to meet other people. The place is a bit far away from restaurants and the center, but there are small shops close by, in case you wanna cook something.
The staff is friendly and helpful at all times. However a friend had told me, who's stayed there before, that you should lock your valuables well since one of the employees is taking money now and then. So I felt a bit paranoid most of the times, but I also haven't noticed anything while my stay, so for me it's been all good about that! The castle is well equipped and the outside area looks really nice. Unfortunately I did rain a lot while I was there, so I couldn't use it. I got a queen-sized bed, which was really nice!

United KingdomI really loved staying here, it’s a beautiful hostel with very kind staff :) It’s always clean, the beds are comfortable, big swimming pool, coffee in the mornings, very cute dogs & cats. I stayed in the 4 bed dorm room which had great air conditioning. It’s a very new hostel so there are things they’re still working on, but I still had a great stay, and I imagine it will only keep getting better :)
