Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandNo access by street. You have to walk on the beach for a few meters and climb the rubbish leftovers from seaweeds.
Facing the sea, wide beach in front and quiet at night although close to the night life

AustraliaAs it gets sandy inside it would be great if they provided a broom. And fix the second burner!
We had the Superior Double Ocean View (of which there are two) which has a large balcony right on the beach. It's a terrific location. The apartment itself has seen better days but the beds were great, the bathroom functional if a bit worn and the kitchen had only one working burner but the fridge was cold. We often ate take away from Falafel Nessya (outstanding and healthy) or Gusto Gourmet (burritos) on the deck. Lively beach scene and private at the same time. Great staff. We felt very safe.

United StatesPlaya del Carmen is loud and the hotel is in the center of the action. Even on the beach directly in front of the hotel, there is always music blasting from several directions. We found we could escape the worst of it by moving down the beach a bit, but it's just part of the Playa scene. Be prepared. Thankfully our room was relatively quiet, so we were able to sleep just fine.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our third floor room had a nice view of the ocean and high ceilings that kept the room cool. the location provides easy access to the beach and the area's night life.

CanadaWifi weak at times. No kitchenette like photos show for standard room there's mini fridge & coffee pot (bring your own cup) would've been nice to know prior.
Great location, staff friendly & helpful, great A/C, all rooms ocean & pool view, only steps to the beach and 5th ave. It's an old diamond in the rough however; if they put money into it the prices will go up but they should supply items for drinking & eating to make use of mini fridge & coffee pot. Ferry to Cozumel 5 minute walk. Noise did not bother me from bar next door but I was at the back & use good earplugs. No seaweed smell when clean up done, plus beach is kept very clean. I'm staying there again next year with several family members.

United KingdomUnfortunately, I had booked a room with a kitchenette, when we checked in the kitchenette was nowhere to be seen. Although this did not affect our stay, I feel we should have been staying in the room type we booked.
The location was perfect, right on the beach with use of sunbeds and umbrellas, it was just a short walk from the main street, but felt much quieter in the evenings. The room was spacious and clean too.

PortugalThe room wasn't the one in the photos with stove and stuff. The beach in front of the hotel wasn't very good. But overall I think that's a good value for what you get.
The location right next to the ADO Bus station and the heart of the town. The hotel has access to the beach but there isn't that much sand so it's not the best beach in the area. We left our backpacks there after the check out without any problem and we did the check in later and went all well.

BelgiumToilet and shower did not work properly, mattress was dirty below the bed sheet, bed sheet and towels did not smell very fresh. The hotel definitely needs a refurbishing to justify the price/night. Plus, it gets very noisy in the night with all the clubs around.

NetherlandsWe loved this hotel - simple, Mexican style, practical, had everything we needed. Don't expect 5 star and don't be too critical about small things and you won't be disappointed. Amazing location right on the beach and also just a few minutes away from the main walking streets (e.g., Fifth Avenue). Beware that to access the hotel entrance, you need to carry your luggage a little bit in the sand. For us this was not a problem - as we love the beach. On arrival, we were greeted by a really kind gentleman who speaks Spanish (good to brush up on your Spanish before going to Mexico anyway) and was very helpful and caring throughout the whole time. We had a room on the 1st floor with amazing view of the sea. The WIFI in our room was a bit weak - but again, we were there to enjoy the beach and disconnect from everyday life so was not an issue. If you want to do work from there, you'll probably need to find a different solution. I've seen some other reviews about the bar next door - it is true that on some days it was loud when we went to sleep. Having ear plugs with you is a good idea. But on other days, we just joined the party :) The staff next door is also great and very friendly. Great to be able to meet locals and enjoy dancing in the sand by the sea :) Thank you once again Mimi staff!! We hope to be back soon :) Take care.

United StatesThe hotel's entrance is from the beach side. You can't go in and out of it without walking on sand. Please put a wood platform for the guests, it doesn't cost so much money! The kitchen is old and needs renovation. There is no shampoo or conditioner provided, only a couple of small soaps. There is no hairdryer in the room, you should get one from front desk, and return it after using it. There was no iron for clothes. There wasn't much hot water, it was slightly warm. The pool was closed for 3 days. When they opened it, the water in it was cold, and looked dirty. The communication with the hotel before going there was bad. I sent a few messages through Booking asking questions about the room, and every time I got an automated response and no answer of my questions.
The location of the hotel is perfect. It is right on the beach, and 5th Avenue is a 2-minute walk. The ferry terminal is about 10 minutes from there, and the ADO bus station is about 6 minutes walk. The staff was helpful and nice. They spoke some English, so we didn't have problems with check in or ordering food and drinks. Our room was on 2nd floor, and we got a big balcony. The king bed was very comfortable. A housemaid cleaned our trash, changed the towels and sheets twice. The air-conditioning was working very well. The beach bar served good drinks and food at reasonable prices. You get an umrella and sun beds on the beach. My husband tried the 1 hour massage in front of the hotel, and was very satisfied with it.

United KingdomThe entrance is on the beach (no entrance via the 5ta Avenida), so you have to walk on the beach to reach the hotel.
The pool is very nice and I liked being so close to the sea. Staff members where super friendly and accommodating: Rosendo and the room attendants were very attentive, and the receptionist allowed me to leave my bag there for 4 hours after checking out. The beach is very nice and clean.
