Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe only one uncomfortable thing we got was connected with a destination of the hotel. It was not so easy to find a right turn from the main road. It would be good to provide a very detailed instruction how to reach out the hotel.
We got a very warm welcome from the staff and given the birthday gifts. it was so lovely and cute, and made us happy. Luckily, we were alone as a family in the area. All the square was for us only, and we were enjoying it. The room was very clean and comfortable with two beds. Very tasty breakfast was served in the area near a pool. The hotel is situated in a forest, thus it was peaceful time. The design is amazing.

United Kingdomthe access to bumpy and google maps is incorrect - when close by (2 mins away) it’s the next left off the bumpy/sandy road - not the one on google :)

United StatesThe hotel is a bit of a challenge to find. Google Maps will send you in the wrong direction. More signage would be helpful.
The hotel is an oasis in the jungle. Beautiful property and well maintained. THere are numerous cenotes nearby and the hotel provides bikes to visit them. Many of them are free and just known by the locals.

PortugalThe staff were advised to take pictures of guests when we arrived and enjoying the facilities, we did not like this. I recommend you ask guests when they check-in whether this is ok, and get them to sign off on it, prior to even taking any pictures, especially when taking pictures of children. We asked for them to remove all pictures as we weren't comfortable with this, and they all did so.
Lovely accomodation in a jungle setting. Every detail had been thought of, the staff made us feel at home whilst being professional at all times. I couldn't drink milk and they went out just to get me some almond milk, thank you! We have 2 children, 6 and 8 and they loved the pool, just enough to cool off. We had dinner at the hotel on both nights and the chef is to be congratulated not only for presentation but also for the perfect joining of tastes on all the dishes we tried.

New ZealandImpressively loud frogs at night who swim around the pool and hop around the restaurant area. We had some success at catching them and throwing them back into the jungle. - It's quite bright at night from the lights on the territory, and there are no curtains on one window, so this light enters the bedroom - The WiFi was a bit patchy and had too much latency for successful video conferencing. - There are no signs at the turnoff to this place, and Google has the wrong location. - Some noisy parties happening in nearby hotels at night. These are just things to be aware of, and will likely be improved by managment who is very competent. So please don't let them put you off this magical location.
Fantastic boutique hotel hideaway in the jungle. We had such a good time here. Everything was done with style. We spent hours in the pool and on the swings, just enjoying the stylish territory and the weather. The staff made us feel so cared for: especially Alex from Argentina who has excellent English, and makes exceptional cocktails (including non-alcoholic ones), Pablo at reception who took great care of us, the cleaners who always did a fantastic job, and Rojas the Chef who made sure every single meal was worth writing home about. You HAVE to try the shrimp tacos and the burgers. This place is a hidden gem.

PortugalThere are absolutely nothing negative to point out.
There are no words to describe how great were the days we spent at Magic Xcacel. Everyone was extremely nice, from Hector, the manager, Pablo, the bartender, Jorge, the cook, Jessica, the cleaning lady and absolutely everyone. In many years of travelling this was probably the place where I found the nicest staff. It is a truly special place with very special people.

United StatesThere was nothing we didn’t like but this place is not for those who expect a resort type place. it is for those who enjoy nature and connecting with themselves. There are no tvs and though internet connection is good, it is not a place for someone who wants to just be in a tropical environment while still living their old life (that includes those working nomads). it is a place to truly disconnect and become one with nature and be pampered while you are at it.
A truly magic place. The cabanas seem to be in a remote area of the jungle with a type of privacy amid nature rarely found. Still they were close to fantastic places like cenotes 2 minutes away and the beach 15 minutes away by bike. Downtown Tulum and its beaches are only 20 minutes away by car. What felt better is that at the end of each day we had our secret paradise to ourselves with our own chef cooking delicious food and a bartender making us any drink we wanted. The prices are also very reasonable. Magic Xcacel is a hidden paradise and what Tulum should be about. A true place to rejuvenate and isolate yourself from the craziness of this world

United StatesWe stayed 2 nights and both nights and mornings there was no electricity- hence no water (we were flushing toilet with pool water!) at all and no light, no fans. The place seems to be a bit abandoned and dirty (old leaves in the pool and on the floors; dirty showers). The location is very difficult to be found ( the only sign was broken in the row next to the road, the road is unpaved and uneven, you risk harming your car! It also ends with a ride through the jungle with wild dogs accompanying you. Our house had a broken door lock so we were not able to close it during the day when we were out. The bed linen have really bad smell and with no AC (or fan) everything was very wet and filthy after the night. The breakfast was not enough even for the kids (two toasts per person and some slices of fruits with tiny amount of jam, honey). The pool was really dirty and with cold water that was straight from the well hence the color was not transparent and the smell was bad. Unfortunately quite a dissatisfying and disappointing stay :( not like on pictures.
It seems to be a nice village in the jingle. Far from noises and we had the whole place to ourselves. Hist was friendly and tried his best- however they were totally not prepared.
