Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesAlthough the property itself is very peaceful it is located on a busy street and you hear traffic almost all night.
Beautiful courtyards, charming rooms. Very ecological. Clean with nice towels and linen. Nice touches: loaner hats, umbrellas and bags.

BelgiumBreakfast options are limited, you might not get the bedding you ask (double room or 2 single beds as availability may vary without prior notice).
Premium location, nice staff, nice courtyard, basic breakfast but free (there’s a nice coffee shop and pastry shop right on the corner though)

United StatesMaybe adding a standing/table fan in addition to the ceiling fan, but I knew I'd chosen a place without air conditioning!
Las Mariposas was really what I was looking for--small operation and affordable for a short stay. As the other comments noted it's pretty warm without air conditioning but I expected that when I booked. The outdoor spaces were very pleasant (and cooler!). Great wifi and appreciated that they provided drinking water. I enjoyed the simple breakfast and generally felt like it would have been a very welcoming place for a solo traveler to stay for a couple of days. Good location, too. The staff were also really great about letting me leave my bags for a few hours on check-out day. Would recommend!

MexicoGeneral in Oaxaca; After midnight all hotels you need to ask to get into, but in general here was easy and promptly open doors upon a request
The hospitality, they gave us a room before the check in, was awesome. Also the room size was bigger than I expected.

United StatesIt would have been really nice to have had air conditioning.
It was very nice with comfortable bed and nice bathroom with a kitchen and place to sit. The courtyards where very beautiful and nice to sit in the afternoon. Also we all felt secure behind the locked gates day and night. The staff were increíble. It is a short walk to Oaxaca by local tours , a huge park and the local markets. This is definitely a very special place.

United StatesThe grounds were absolutely adorable-I loved all the cute details and all of the plants/succulents. So quiet and serene. I would definitely stay here again! We initially only booked 2 nights because we were not familiar with the city and weren’t sure if we would want to stay somewhere else for the rest of our stay. The location was perfect, and we were easily able to extend our stay, which we were appreciative of.

FranceThe room was small with no AC though with the fan it was ok.
Very pleasant- quiet even if it was in the historic area, very close to main attractions like the museum, botanical garden, Jalatlaco neighborhood, and about 10mins walk to the zocalo. Staff was very nice. Shared kitchen and small breakfast was great to have, and there are great small cafes nearby for brunch as well. Cheap laundromat around the corner. Every morning (except Wednesday) there was someone selling artisanal crafts in the courtyard.

United StatesIt was hot at night to sleep, even with a fan. Maybe the top floors get more of a breeze? If they had AC I would definitely book again!
Gorgeous and quiet, even being surrounded by the city! It’s in a great location to the square and wonderful restaurants! I felt safe the whole time. Check in process was thorough and smooth. They let us check in a little early no problem. The dogs are quiet and friendly.

CanadaI stayed in two different rooms: one a large studio and the other a smaller room towards the back of the hotel. The studio had AC which was nice because it did get quite hot and the air circulation wasn't great. A lot of light leaks into the studio but fortunately I had my eye mask. The smaller room didnt have good air circulation and, though it was cooler out on the patio, my room stayed quite warm. There was a good standing fan though.
A lovely space, with gardens and patios. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. I liked the fountain and the koi!
