The food available was ight. There were not many options available at the restaurant and it was just okay. Although, I am a New Orleans native so my taste buds are used to greatness. It is hard to get around to explore other food options. However, rent a bike and go outside the national park is my recommendation! You really are in the middle of a national park and there were some raccoons that disturbed my sleep a couple of nights. I scared them off but it gave me quite a scare the first time they were at my window! The Ac works... but it's not spectacular. I got used to the heat.

I loved the private plunge pool that came with the room and how close the ocean was to the hotel. It was great being immersed in nature and being able to walk around the property barefoot. My bungalow was very unique. I felt safe being a solo female traveler. The staff made it easy to rent a bike and even a moped to get around Tulum to explore.

As with everyone else, it’s within a national park which imposes some limitations. You need to spend $50 dollars to qualify for a sunbed, and the waiters expect a 20% tip each time you interact with them.

Nice place in general. Beautiful beach! Calm site with kind people working at the desk.

Bed could be more comfortable. The mosquito net wasn't spacious. It had several holes and kept falling on our faces while we were sleeping.

Amazing Location. There's a nice private pool for residents and the ice cream & fruit bowls were delicious. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

The prices of the restaurant it's just ridiculous, 65eur for a breakfast (croissant, oats bowl and coffee). They also ask 20% tips for everything, even if they serve you only ONE beer! The matcha place also inside the Hotel, charged us twice for their overpriced matcha + acai bowls and when we complained, they said ''no worries there was an error in the machine, you will get your money back in few days'' already couple of weeks later, I NEVER got my money back. Please avoid eating anywhere inside the hotel!!!!!

The location is absolutely amazing, right at the beautiful beach of Tulum, were you can see the most stunning sunset!! The lodge we stayed was pretty basic, but still beautiful as it's feels you're immersed in nature and has everything you need, few steps away from the beach! Great stay!

No alcohol in the drinks. Stick to beer / wine or champagne. Obviously only affects if you are want to drink. We found out the hard way the Federales are not allowing alcohol to be brought into the preserve. We had our bags searched and they took our tequila. So any hotel that falls in that preserve does not allow any alcohol to be brought it. One of the staff members also said they are being limited on what they can get. The beach bar had one bottle of tequila. Margaritas had no tequila-kind of sad. Other big bummer, not on the hotel, was taxi rides to town will rip you off. Better getting your own car, scooter or bike.

Beautiful location, just minutes from the Tulum Ruins. We stayed in the tree house and was a fantastic experience. The tropical birds, wind in the palm trees and ocean waves cannot be beat for the experience. Water and beaches were perfect. Staff is very friendly and great yoga class's.

My main gripe would be the lack of information provided about the location of the Ikal resort. This is mostly my fault, as I should have done more research. Tulum town is about one mile down the beach road. To get to Ikal you will need to take a taxi and the taxis are a complete rip. 350-400 pesos….20-25$ cab ride every time you want to leave the facility. There were bikes to rent, which was a good option and that’s basically what I did. The other thing that isn’t mentioned anywhere is that in order to get to Ikal, you need to pass through a national guard checkpoint. The police presence was a bit unsettling to me throughout the trip. I saw everything from national guard to marines to local police and everything in between. All packing semi-automatic weapons. It seemed a bit overkill for a hippie yogi community.

Ikal was a beautifully laid out property in a very secluded location, within the national park. My Mayan Suite was lovely with a comfortable air-conditioned bedroom/tent and outdoor bathroom facilities. The sink and shower were out in my private courtyard and the toilet was like a little tiki outhouse. The staff were all terrific people. They were all very accommodating. The restaurant was good. The French toast was real good!!! I enjoyed my four night stay.

Our "double" bed was small, I think 135cm when the description said large double bed. To me, this is a large single bed or a small double bed. They should change the description to make it fair. our bed was also a little saggy. Time for a change of mattress. When I asked if there was another room available via WhatsApp the message was ignored. I guess they were busy. The staff at the restaurant and beach shack lack management. Very friendly but not efficient. (or very relaxed) Plates, cups, and glasses still lying around from previous nights were a daily occurrence. Service is very slow, especially at the beach beds. You are asked to pay a minimum of 15% service for this. Not sure they deserve even 10%. They would make so much more money if they were attending guests efficiently and kept the place cleaner. And guests would happily pay a min of 15% in this case. I also felt that everything was overpriced, and there are not many alternatives around at close distance.

The location is great, beautiful beach. Calm environment, quiet and very cute setting, walking barefoot everywhere, and plunge pool just outside the huts were great for my kid to cool down. Room cleaning was very good and clean towels were provided when necessary. The huts are spacious and well maintained, same for bathrooms. Yoga and other activities are offered every day although at extra cost.

The restaurant is what brings the score down. The staff is rude and demand 20% tip even if you only order a drink to go. The prices of the restaurant is equivalent to some of the pricier restaurants in the area, however the quality is miles below. In the beach club we ordered ice cream for 9 dollars and got 2 lumps of ice tasting nothing like ice cream. Make sure to read your checkout bill as well. When we were going to checkout the restaurant had charged a full dinner to our room which we never had.

The room was very good. Looks just like in the pictures. The hotel is safe with good security and the location is perfect on playa paraiso. The yoga classes are good with an enthusiastic guide. The reception staff was polite and helpful.

The only thing I didn't like was that one day when we were spending time at the pool a waiter told us there was a minimum spend on food and drink of 100 UDS for sitting by the pool (the only place with shade). I told him we are guests - he dropped it to 80 UDS. I told him that's not what we were told and we will spend as much as we will spend. We ate multiple meals there at the hotel while we were staying there, just not that specific lunch. The waiter never came back to bother us but I didn't feel comfortable there anymore and went to Villa Poncho the next afternoon where we had a nice lunch and launched in their share for hours without anyone bothering us.

IKAL is a dream. I love how the bungalows are tucked into the jungle ... it's absolutely lovely. I loved the inside / outside bathrooms and the fetched roofs. My mom was a little taken aback by that and there were some ants. Different people have different needs. My toddler LOVED it and so did I. They even have Nespresso machines and a fridge. They also have an array of nice activities for adults and kids.

The price does not go with the services provided The restaurant is very expensive and they add 15% propina minimum The location is a bit excentric if you want to go to center ( taxis charge min 300-400 pesos ), and look for a collectivo to take you for much less

One thing: we found a tiny dead cucaracha in the room.

We had a wonderful and magic stay in our tree house! It was big, comfortable and the best of all things was the crowsnest. We looked at the sunset, moonrise, sunrise, the ocean and a lushess green forest, all from one place. Food was delicious too! We also did a sound healing in a private cenote in the middle of the jungle with Diego from nomofrequency. It was so amazing, we barley have the words for it. A must try. Best stay ever and especially because it was our three year wedding anniversary and the staff made it extra special.

$9 kombucha in the mini-bar. The Tibetan temple in the middle of the grounds played thumping club-meditation music for a ceremony at 7am Sunday morning.

A magical rustic cabana in a new-ageish beachy setting, expect sand & creaky floors that add to the mystique. A beautiful outdoor bathroom in our own palm-filled yard. Falling asleep to the sound of the wind in the trees and the waves. Oh, and the beachside restaurant was creative & fantastic, not typical beach bar fare, impressive!
