Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

The breakfast was wonderful, simple but great. Thank you for making the table for me to sit outside to have my breakfast. Location was also fine, it's in a gaten area and about 1,5 kilometers from the ferry point. The service was great and so friendly. Made me feel very welcome and looked after.

Kind and gracious staff, who gave a great recommendation for dinner (check out Marbella right next to the location!). Room was HUGE, very comfortable, bathroom was clean and spacious, and the amenities were fantastic. Rooftop pool was a fantastic touch. And breakfast was so yummy!

The room and private balcony made me feel like I was staying in a luxury hotel. The family was accommodating, helpful, and kind. Just all around great value and the reason I love home stays.

GermanyCasa Lara was an excellent (home) stay for the start of our Mexico trip in Cancún. It is located in the Puerto Juarez neighborhood of the city, which is far from the touristy parts of Zona Hotelera (etc.) and therefore much quieter and relaxed. You can hear the birds singing in the morning from the nearby forest and the nearest beach Playa Blanca is only a 2 minute walk away - so perfect for swimming even before breakfast. Playa Blanca might not be the prettiest beach of Cancún, but it is not at all crowded and much more swimmable compared to others - we really enjoyed it. Speaking of breakfast, our host Arturo prepared a tasty and different breakfast each morning, which we enjoyed having outside the building on the ground-level terrace. This is also a great spot to chat with the other travelers staying here if you like. Arturo and his whole family were very friendly and helpful in any instance and we really felt at home during our 4-night stay. We also enjoyed using the rooftop terrace, but did not use the pool, which is also available. You can reach Downtown Cancún with Cancún's bus station (ca. 20min) or Zona Hotelera (ca. 40min) easily by Colectivos, which stop on the street right next to Playa Blanca constantly. Arturo will kindly tell you about your options and which buses/Colectivos to take. We highly recommend staying at Casa Lara while being in Cancún if you are looking for a relaxed home stay outside of the hotel zone, especially during the first days after your arrival to Cancún/Mexico.

United StatesI ended up getting athletes foot while there. Not sure if it was from the tub or the floor. But it's hard to avoid that with so many people coming in and out of a location like that. Wasn't terrible, but it was my only bad experience with this space.
Arturo was super nice and accommodating. My Spanish is a bit rusty so he helped order me a taxi to get to the airport and got me a far better price than what I was quoted by a different taxi service.
