Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SloveniaWell... in the period we were there they were renovating the building in front of the hotel. A "little" noisy week, but I think that one day the renovating will be over. :) The breakfast: let say - basic. But really basic (toast & jam). But... considering the price we paid for the accommodation at the hotel Coco Rio... it's ok.
This is a very good place to stay if you are visiting Playa del Carmen. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and nicely appointed. The vibe we get from the balcony is so amazing. We found the host extremely kind and helpful. Nice, central area, close to the beach and also close to all the shops, market, restaurants and night life. Will definatly return to this place for next vist… We had a wonderful time, thank you!

CanadaNo one is ever at the reception. I didn't receive instructions in advance so I had to call the number at the door theb they ask me to send a whatsapp message instead. Would have been nice to receive the instructions in advance to avoid the wait. Breakfast is a joke, toast that is at least 2-3 days old, jam and butter. If you want to take anything extra you'll have to pay. I didn't have the keys to the safe and they promised they'll come at 12 pm but nobody showed up, I had to text them again and after 30 min I received a text saying that the key is downstairs next to a lamp in the reception
It's all about the location, it's just around the corner of the 5th Avenue. Little cozey hotel, clean room, comfy bed.

United StatesParking on the street is not too bad, but you'd need to find coins for the parking meter which is 10 pesos per hour and they don't charge from 10pm to 10am thankfully. No elevator. Breakfast is located at Hacienda hotel which is one block away; they have drinks and toasts only. Anything else for breakfast is extra. The toast is already there toasted, but don't know how long. They could easily improve it by letting the guests toast it. It's noisy at night until maybe 1am, so bring earplugs. I didn't see that they provided ear plugs in the room. Curtains are not blackout. You may or may not get beach towels from reception. They also should be more proactive on asking for documents the day before, instead of asking for them when I get there and I'm waiting for the code to unlock.
Located near the Quinta Avenida within a few feet where it gets busy and loud. Rooms were decorated well with a theme. Building has 3 floors. Clean. The room was really spacious. AC worked well. There was hot water fine although having four knobs on the shower with no instructions can be confusing (use the left one for hot water).

SlovakiaAt first we booked the apartment without the balcony but we were offered a free upgrade to the superior room so we took it which was a mistake. Turned out that rooms with the balcony are facing the street that is loud at night. Also during the day there's a construction going on, so it's a loud apartment during the day as well. Luckily after the first night we got the room changed back to one without a balcony that was silent. So I'd recommend booking these rooms. For breakfast expect only toast with butter and jelly, black coffee, water, and juice. We got these for 5 days in a row so that's most likely the only free offer. But you can also order there a proper breakfast for extra money, it's big portions and a bit cheaper than in a regular restaurant in the area.
- strong wifi - comfortable mattress - location (right next to 5th Ave) - you can use the pool that is at the breakfast place

United StatesReally hard to find it (entrance inside of a restaurant). But once gettig in everything was fine...
The lady was very helpful on communication during and after checking in with room facilities. She followed up with us very closely when we thought we had left a shirt in the room after checking out - best customer service ever!!! The free breakfast was not as bad as other review comments: It's actually not very far to walk from the hotel and the option we selected was good (yes we did need to pay milk for coffee but not much). The waitress was nice too. 100% Recommended!!!

United StatesWhat I don’t like is breakfast. Breakfast was in the different hotel and was very bad. What they proposed for breakfast is eggs with toast, or just toast with butter and jam. Coffee was bad also, if you want milk you need to pay for milk (((. I highly recommend for hotel don’t write that breakfast included, or propose different place for breakfast. A lot of very nice small cafes and restaurants are close by.
Location, cleaning, staff are very good.

United KingdomThe breakfast wasn't served in the hotel but in a diffrent one only few minutes walk awah for me which wasn't a problem at all for me because there was no loud noise or scents from the kitchen suited me just fine but for other people it may not be as convenient. ! Continuing on the breakfast was exactly the same every day scrambled eggs with bread sometimes with a tiny amount of see through slices of fruit and coffe but it is enough to get you going not for anyone who enjoys a big breakfast though .
I loved the central location of the hotel despite the entrance being through the middle of a restaurant which I found a little unusuall but it was like stepping into a secret garden from the loud street noise into this magical world and a secret garden where you could switch off the noise and unwind I loved that plus the beauty of the bamboo trees and other equally beautiful plants within the centre of the property was magical

ItalyBreakfast was quite light and with no choice. In addition, breakfast is in another building, 5 minutes far from the hotel. Not a big deal, because walking in this area is quite nice, but it is good to point it out.
Beautiful position, clean and with a very wide room. I didn't hear any noise from the street, even if the hotel is very close to the main pedestrian street of Playa del Carmen. Beach is 10 minutes far from the hotel.

The room itself was lovely. Good size. And let loved our little space outside of our room for relaxing.

United States- wish I had a coffee maker / hot water available - the breakfast is in another hotel 2 blocks away... it's simple (eggs, fruits, one toast, 1 coffee without milk (milk was extra :( - there is a bad smell coming from the bath... just close the door, and it's ok in the room. - tv doesn't work but I have my computer
- great location and surprisingly SUPER quiet (room 21) - very cute decor and center patio with books available - Good AC, good hot water pressure and stable wifi, the mini fridge - no concierge at the desk but staff is nice and very helpful

Hong KongThis is not a hotel. This is an airbnb property and they only want to give you instructions via wassup app and check in with codes even when you book on booking.com. I could not get wassup to work so they completely ignored me. They refused to give me checkin and checkout instructions and sent me to a closed restaurant for breakfast. Do not pay ahead or they will try and keep your money and not give you check in instructions. This is not a hotel with check in hours. Hideous. No breakfast.
Good aircon.

United StatesTo start receptionist very rude and not respectfully at all, barely seen her at the desk, it was one day I asked for more toilet paper and soap and she said I cannot give you more. Then on my room fridge it was rust, bed sheets dirty and towels clean but had blood stains. To end this breakfast is advertising but oh well surprise, staff call it as continental breakfast which is pice of bread and coffee or juice. Save your time and your money I believe you can find better options. Also no pool at this site
