Compared to Catalonia Playa Maroma it was a bit of a disappointment. This resort is much smaller with much less options. The beach is smaller, they work manually to clear the seaweed, which is quite ineffective. The evening entertainment is quite weak. The Terrace restaurant has a beautiful setting outdoors, but the food is disappointing. The Tuscan restaurant has great food, but the space feels like a facility dining hall, couldn't wait to get out of there. The downside of our stay was the moldy smell in the room. We asked to switch rooms, which was much better, but still, even several days after returning home our bags and anything we couldn't wash still reeks of the smell.

After a wonderful experience at another Catalonia location last year (Playa Maroma), I couldn't wait to visit this one. The "Privileged" upgrade (such an odd word choice) is a must for the sole purpose of being allowed to sit and eat at the amazing BeLoved restaurant on the beach. It was almost $100 more per day, but this made our vacation. As much as it's small, it was a nice surprise that no reservations were needed at any time there. The Rauxa was the best of all other restaurants, and quite entertaining.

Really loved it

The area in Tulum is beautiful and I love how they respected the animals and the environment. So clean and the staff was amazing. Super friendly lots of activities. The beach was absolutely stunning.

The overall food was good, could have been better across the different specialty restaurants. The breakfast and lunch buffets were ok, could use some more variety that rotated on different days. It seem to me that certain dishes were recycled from the previous day.

Rooms were big and clean. The Beach was exceptionally nice. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The activities by the pool team was great. The Spanish Tapas restaurant was very good.

The ongoing loudspeaker pool party is too close to the beach area and interferes with peacefully enjoying the sea and the sand. It should be either turned down or limited in duration. It goes all day. Many times we thought we just wanted to hear the breeze and the waves.

Ha,, like most places, the beach towels were hard to find some days,, but really that was my only issue! ha!

The resort is well laid out, the winding path through the trees and under the mangroves was one of my favorite parts! I picked this resort because it was smaller, (no golf cart needed), and it still had 5 restaurants!

Apart from the lobby bar, the cocktails were not good and very chemical (even the smoothies were based on concentrated juice). The mattress was much too soft and therefore uncomfortable. Not the hotel's fault, but: Lots and lots of American tourists. Everything is done to meet their expectations, which are not necessarily those of Europeans. Some tourists were very noisy and drunk, even in the morning.

The location of the hotel is exceptional. It is isolated and quiet, with a beautiful path to cross through the jungle with animals to reach the beach, which is splendid. Clear water, palm trees, not too busy... The beach was one of our main criteria and we were not disappointed. The staff was very nice. The food was uneven depending on the dishes/restaurants but we managed to enjoy ourselves by avoiding certain dishes that were not very fresh/too industrial.

😡😡😡😡😡 mosquitoes….. but this isn’t the resorts fault we did have to dispatch quite a few from our room. Oh and I hold the resort responsible for the one day of rain we got 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

We booked a room with two double beds as we are fat and he snores 😂. We were so pleased to not only get the room we requested but on the ground floor closest to the beach. The room was lovely with great air conditioning the beds and pillows were super comfy. Beach is stunning. The resort is kept immaculate.

Generally, the restaurants could improve their level. For example, the meat restaurant Grill offered low quality meat (we ordered picanha that was way below good standards). The SPA circuit is quite limited.

The beach is amazing. Service at the hotel is a very high level, staff is very friendly and helpful. Nice details such as juices & smoothies at the beach. On top, the hotel organizes great activities to keep guests entertained. Bloved restaurant is the best in the hotel. The buffet is quite varied.

Great hotel, adult only. Perfect to relaxing. You dont need to leave the hotel, you have 2 stores with all essencials and 6 restaurants. You can take some tours too, i highly recommend Chichen Itza and Tolum.

The furniture in our room was a little outdated and not up to the same quality as the rest of the resort. Other than that, nothing else that we can complain about!

We had a great stay. The resort was absolutely beautiful. We loved that the pathways between the amenities were tree covered with lots of cute coatis (raccoon like animals) running around. It felt very jungle-like and charming. The beach area was beautiful and very private, and they kept the beach nice and clean. The staff were super friendly and made the stay better. The food was excellent as well. They had tons of choices for food allergies/sensitivities with many types of cuisine. We will definitely come back.

Ok let me start off by saying that I absolutely do not do reviews and this is my first because I was so blown away with this hidden gem. My girlfriends and I took a Friendsgiving trip during the holidays and the stay was absolutely phenomenal. I requested double queen rooms for the 4 reserved rooms but received 2 kings rooms and 2 queen double rooms. Elisa at the front desk jumped in and made sure the corrections were completed the next day. The beach was beautiful and well maintained. The staff are excellent from the greeters helping with luggage to the waitresses in the main dining. The food by far was the top rated highlight for me. Each restaurant customized from the Buffet to the individual restaurants. The Grill and Roux was absolutely the best. Diego was the hype mam at the Roux and he was very interactive with the guest. The steaks was my all time favorite with the grilled vegetables. please don’t hesitate to book in advance. You won’t be disappointed. Oh by the way…book you a photoshoot with Bernice in the photo room. This young lady works hard and made our social media photos beautiful!

I read online that Privilege rooms were in bldg 5 & 6 are closest to pool and beach. That’s not true! We were in bldg 2 & had long walk to beach & buffet & pool. I have mobility issues so that was a difficult walk!! But we were close to lobby and specialty restaurants.

Beautiful resort in a jungle & mangrove setting on one of the best Riviera Maya beaches!! La Palapa buffet restaurant often had better food than the specialty restaurants! Great pool with bar serving excellent drinks!

Animations from staff, food could be improved in other places than the Beloved (Mexican buffet on Mexican night was disapointing). Walls are thin and neighbourgs were very noisy at night. We could even hear them snoring !

The place (jungle with animals), the beach (waow!), the staff, shows of quality, the food at the Beloved, comfortable bed and pillows.

The location (between Tulum and Playa del Carmen) made it a little difficult to see the nearby town, you always need a cab, that is not a big problem but it will take at least 45 minutes to get there. And two of the treadmills in the gym were not working for the whole week. People had to wait to use it. So I stopped using it and went straight to the bar lol. It would also be great if there is a bar where we can watch sport games, I was missing that.

The staff of this hotel were great, friendly and always helpful. Diego (entertainment) and the hostess at the breakfast and lunch area were amazing. The food was good, the gym looked modern and the spa was very clean and nice.

The only improvement would be more facilities for guests checking out (a room with power sockets, AC, a changing area and maybe a shower).

The staff are incredibly hardworking and friendly. The hotel is set within lush natural landscaping which sets this hotel apart from most of the other hotels in the area. The hotel isn’t too big, but has everything you need for a great time within a short walk. The food is consistently really good, with lots of choice to suit most requirements. The beach is quite, with lots of space to sunbath, chill in the shade, swim or do activities.
