Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNothing to say in the negative about this hotel.
The included breakfast was wonderful. The historical aspects of the building was fantastic and it felt like I was in Mexico City. Much better than a chain hotel offering in my opinion.

United StatesThe only thing that went wrong was the refrigerator not working to full capacity to keep our drinks cold.
The staff were very warm and welcoming. One of the bell men, the front desk lady, and especially the server Alex went the extra mile to give us tips for our stay. The food and drinks at the restaurant upstairs were exceptional and the staff/servers made it a fun time. It’s such a beautiful place to stay and I can see why many people like to get married there! The room decor/design was the perfect match of historic with modern touches. It had high ceilings and made it feel even more spacious than it already is.

SwedenThe staff was not up to a five star hotel. Some were excellent but some had a stiff upper lip attitude. Compared to the other hotels in Mexico we visited they were not as helpful and engaged. Sad for such a nice hotel otherwise. There was no information in the room about neither the service in the hotel nor the history of the hotel. It was once Cortez house so got some story to tell.
Amazing hotel with perfect location for visiting the historical centre. Rooms where big, comfortable beds and clean. Air condition effective. Good value for money.

United StatesGiven the historic nature of the building, my standard room was was small with a cramped bathroom but I understand the superior rooms are larger with windows. Bed gets a B+ for comfort however plenty of terrific pillows!
The hotel is a beautiful historic building with a great location in Mexico City's cultural center. It has an exceptional restaurant and serves a wonderful breakfast with several delicious options. The staff provides exceptional customer service.

United StatesNothing to do with the Hotel itself, but the traffic in the city is so intense, it was sometimes a long wait to get an Uber to arrive. Always give yourself lots of spare time! Also, the City is so big that no matter where you stay, historic center included, you will find yourself taking some fairly long taxi rides to get to other neighborhoods. Again, this would be true no matter where in CDMX you stay!
The hotel is in a beautifully restored historic building, with friendly helpful staff. The hotel is located steps from the Zocalo and many museums in the historic center. The interiors include a first rate amenities, while the decor includes beautiful tile floors, stone walls, and palatial grand stair to descend every morning. Amazing dining and breakfast experiences: The breakfast, included in our rate, was gourmet, generous, and authentic Mexican (or American if you like). The rooftop terrace restaurant Tezontle was casually elegant, breezy and cool, with amazing cocktails (their Mojito Santo is an experience!), friendly wait staff, and delicious menu that made us want to come back again and again. We dined there for 4 of our 8 evenings in Mexico City, it was so delicious, and the menu so varied. Highly recommend!

United KingdomThe building was amazing - very stylish, but with a lot of history. Easy walk into the main square and a nice area. Jesus, the concierge, was extremely helpful with sorting taxis and tours and always available by Whats App, so you could always contact him. Breakfast was also excellent.

United StatesWe had some serious problems with our initial room, after speaking with the desk we received a room change the second space was perfect. However this hotel is best for midweek travelers. During the weekend you have a Disco next door that will seriously change the otherwise peaceful vibe of the space.
Location was fabulous if you want to be right in the historic center. Staff were friendly and helpful. Space is beautiful. We felt safe and especially appreciated the interactions with the late night front desk and security who were kind and accommodating as we came and went from the hotel. The included breakfast is also fantastic and the staff in the restaurant are superb.

United StatesThe housekeeping was erratic. They promised bathrobes but we had to ask 4 times. Unlimited water was the promise but when we asked for a bottle they attempted to put it on the bill, we declined to pay and they accepted. The hotel is on a plaza and for several nights there was very loud music well into the night. One night the music (furniture vibrating ) went until 6 AM.
The room was very comfortable.
