It’s far from downtown Tulum -you need a taxi to travel there

f I had to pick one word to describe the Cabanas at Tulum, it would be "remarkable." My now wife and I went to The Cabanas for our honeymoon and it was virtually perfect in every way. Literally from the first moment we arrived, the staff was attentive, warm, and courteous. They offered a cocktail that was delicious and refreshing. I especially appreciated that they had a mocktail ready for me as I don't drink alcohol very often. The vibe was relaxed yet professional and thoughtful. For example, we were able to get great room service from the restaurants on the premises. Frescoes was the more casual option, but Ziggy's was the real deal. Literally everything that we tried on the Ziggy's menu that we had for any meal at any hour was simply delicious. This ranged from grilled octopus to fresh fruit with yogurt to desserts and more. We did not get sick from the food at all and the ingredients were incredibly fresh. The restaurants themselves were also about 100 feet from the ocean so the breeze was refreshing and the views were stunning. Our room included a stunning view of the ocean itself. The room was comfortable with an air conditioner and wi-fi. Although it didn't include a television, honestly, we didn't miss it. We just used our laptop to stream. The room also included our own balcony with a super comfortable hammock and our own private hot tub. There was plenty of bottled water for brushing our teeth. The beach area had its own comfy seats and couches. The ocean was simply perfect. Clear water, great temperature, smooth surf. There was also a wonderfully refreshing pool on the grounds. In addition to all of the above, there was also a spa. We did the complimentary aqua therapy. It was refreshing - the cold pool was very invigorating. Oh, and the service. The SERVICE!!! Everyone was so friendly and thoughtful!! If an option wasn't available, we were informed immediately and presented with alternatives.

Everything at the hotel was great. Outside the hotel is another story. Tulum is very touristy and there are security issues. My children were shaken down after leaving a very nice restaurant in Tulum in their car by the local police and they had to pay them $400USD to stay out of jail. Very frightening. No one seems to bat an eye about this though. It's just everyday life.

Beautiful hotel, room and facilities. The staff was excellent as was the spa and yoga. Breakfast was very good and our room overlooking the beach was wonderful!

Room could be larger, and for me the tulum beach area is not the best as its small road and tulum taxis are rip off.

Very nice calm location. Feels like a hideout. All the staff were super nice! Always willing to help. Both restaurants ( Ziggys and Frescos) are world class! Would rate it 9.5/10

There was nothing that I didn't like about this resort. It had everything we liked. It was located in a central area that allowed for guest to partake in things off site.

The experience at Cabanas Tulum was exquisite. My wife and I went for our anniversary and it was our first time to Tulum and we were uncertain about everything, but this staff and resort did not disappoint. By the time we left, we felt like family.

Such a lovely hotel! We didn’t want to leave at all. The staff was one of the most welcoming people we ever met. The breakfast at Frescos was a la carte and soooo good! We couldn’t get enough of it :)) (My recommendation: the Salmon Tostado) The beach was super clean and calm. If the weather wasn’t that good the pool was also a nice alternative to the beach! Also it was amazing to see how they protected the wildlife (the nests of the sea turtles would be roped off so no one could step on them). Our room (we luckily had a free upgrade) was beautiful and the view was just divine. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in Tulum and we’ll definitely be back!🫶🏼

Sea in front of the hotel was full of seaweed, but it is not the hotel’s fault, and nearby properties had similar issues.

The one thing that I missed was gluten free bread options form the breakfast. But one of the staff members explained that there was an issue with the gluten free baker during our stay and that generally they did offer glutren free options.

The hotel was just perfect, specially all the staff was just amazing. We felt welcome and taken care of from the first second we arrived. And the rooms, access to the private beach, the pool and the hotel in general were great, but special attention goes to the breakfast with the healthy but delicious options.

Perfect spot for a true vacation. Property is right on the beach with plenty of palm trees, chairs and day beds. We had ceviche and drinks on the beach for lunch a few days. All of the food is incredible, including the free breakfast. The pool is very nice and gets sun throughout the entire day. Spa facilities were great - you can do a hydrotherapy circuit of sauna, steam room, hot and cold plunge pools, which the staff will time for you and provide refreshing infused waters. Our room had a roof-deck with a hot tub that we could fill up as we pleased. It was warm enough in May that the rooms with the plunge pools would be just as nice since the water stays warm naturally. We had dinner at their sister restaurant, Ziggy's, a few nights and the food exceeded our expectations. The location is perfect because you are one step removed from the rowdier beach clubs while still being right on top of everything, so I would say this spot is perfect for couples looking to relax but still go out if you want. While there is seaweed on the beach near the water, I would not say it was bothersome at all because this property is so nice and the beach is beautiful still with the palm trees and white sand. We had a refrigerator in our room, which was nice for having wine, beer, etc (there is a store right down the street), and everything in the room was in great condition. We drove and there are plenty of parking spots on the property. Saff were all super nice and accommodating.

A couple of items that I would put down as things that could be improved: 1. There was not fridge in the room. It would be nice to have one, even if small 2. on the beach there are several large double bed "beach mattresses" (have a look in the pictures on their website) and very few lounge chairs. I did not find the "beach mattresses" particularly comfortable, at least for me. I am sure other people love them but I prefer the classic lounge chair. Unfortunately I was told by the staff attending the beach that there are just 8 available and they get normally taken quite early in the morning so it is hard to get hold of one if you are not exaclty an early bird. Although eventually I still managed to get one, it would be an improvement if there could be more available, even if stored at the back but available if someone requested it. Something perhaps for the management to think about for the future.

We stayed for three nights at the Cabanas Tulum and we truly enjoyed our time here. The staff was very corteous and attentive. On our arrival we were greeted with a welcome drink (by the way, one of the best drink we had our two weeks tour around Mexico) and later, we were suprised with a bottle of champagne in the room as a gift for my birthday (nice touch, Cabans Tulum!) Generally, communication runs via WhatsApp with the concierge/reception and, on a separate channel, with the bar Fresco's. It all work very well and you do not really need to get up from your lounge chair on the beach! They even suggested us few places where to have dinner and they were all really good. The quality of the facility is very high in general and the accommodation itself (we booked the Beach Front Roof Top) was absolutely stunning. The room was spotlessly clean, the bed was super comfortable and there was air con AND ceiling mounted fan. Shower was powerful and very hot. Wifi working perfectly throughout the complex, no issues at all. We enjoyed our time on the private beach We had breakfast at the bar Fresco's and it was spectacular. Not just loads of choices, not just healty good looking food, but just great flavours and high quality ingredients. Probably the highlight of the highlights for us at the Cabanas Tulum
