The shared kitchen is a little confusing as nothing is labelled so you may find your wine going down faster than expected.

We loved the sounds and smells of the jungle. It was unfortunately too hot for the howler monkeys to visit but we saw iguanas and lizards just over breakfast and while in the pool (perfect for when it’s hot ad humid!) The hosts are very kind and hospitable and invited us for drinks with them. The room was clean, comfortable and cool and perfect for me to rest up when we had to stay an extra night to recover from an existing stomach bug. Toilets and bathroom very functional and spacious. The kitchen was well equipped with potable water available. It’s easy to hail a taxi or collectivo into the town from the road. We would 100% come again!

One of the beds in our cabaña was very uncomfortable. The mattress seemed to collapse with any weight on it and you could feel all the slats underneath. The WiFi wasn’t great.

We turned up here for a couple of nights and arrived ill with travellers tummy. We ended up extending our stay to a week in order to recover as we were really quite ill. The owners were super helpful with getting us medical assistance and running us to the chemists and doctors. The plus side of staying put for a week was experiencing the wonderful wildlife here at the cabañas. Geckos, iguanas, opossums to name a few and you really felt you were right in the jungle. The icing on the cake were the howler monkeys who came down every day and hung from the trees by the kitchen door, waiting to be hand fed bananas and tomatoes. An amazing experience to be so close up to these incredible animals. There was even an extremely cute baby! Once we were recovered we visited the Mayan ruins which aren’t very far from here. It is quite a long walk into town but taxis are cheap and quick. We also had use of the kitchen which was great and the swimming pool was very clean and refreshing. The toilets and shower were kept very clean and the shower had hot water.

The WiFi was poor but, to be honest, this isn't why you stay here. Mattress had seen better days and I was sleeping on the boards - lucky I like a hard bed.

The location is just on the edge of the jungle. Natures soundtrack is loud and wonderful, if you like it. The Cabanas are bamboo huts surrounded in mosquito nets. You feel like you're living outside. Howler monkeys are your neighbours! Staff are really friendly! Parking is secure.

The bed was uncomfortable and very soft. If you are in a couple, the heavier person is lower and the lighter one is falling on him. It’s a peaceful and a magic place, the pity thing is that you can still hear the noises of the street and trucks :(

    Nature, jungle and monkeys.

The cabana and the public areas were as described and seen in the photos. They had a really cute puppy and it was good to be able to use the kitchen.

Location is a tradeoff, it's a bit off from the city, but near a little noisy road. It didn't bother me, but keep it in mind.

Lovely cabins in the jungle, simple but comfortable, you will see some apes and maybe other animals. The personnel are very nice and helpful. Great breakfast. Loved it at all.

the hotel is a fair distance from the town. 30 minute walk or a 50 peso taxi. this is the only downside.

I had the best time at cabanas bambutan. the staff are superb, so friendly and helpful. the boy who does the gardening and I became great friends over the time I was there. the cabanas are comfortable and cool. I fed the monkeys one morning and was surrounded by wildlife the whole time I was there. it was the perfect relax and so far my favourite place I’ve stayed during my two months in Mexico.

One thing to know is that we did not have any charging capabilities in our cabaña, but we were able to charge them in the main area.

We had a wonderful stay at the Cabañas. For those who are backpacking, keep in mind that they are not located in the center of town and are best accessed by car. That being said, we were able to get a taxi from the bus station for less less than 50 pesos. The cabañas themselves are as described, we could hear the howler monkeys and jungle sounds. The staff were very friendly, and Paco even helped call the howler monkeys down so we could feed them mangoes and see them up close.

A bit far from town (30min, can easily get a taxi for MEX 50).

Nice and clean facilities, good WiFi, lots of common spaces, friendly guests, overall great for the low price. Staff helped us organize a tour to the ruins and waterfalls.

It is quite far from the centre, so you have to take a taxi or colectivo to get there. Walk takes around 30 minutes and its not safe during the night. There is just one small shop nearby, so not much food options (you can order pizza from the staff, not the best one. But if you are lucky, you can order much better tacos :). The main road is nearby, so you can hear cars (but not too much). On the other hand, you can hear monkeys during the night and they know how to wake you up :) But it is still worth to stay there.

Cabanas were really beautifull and romantic as well as gardens around. If you wish to stay at some special place, this is a good option. Everything was clean and worked well. We have seen wild monkeys, they even came for the fruit. Even if you are next to the road, you feel like to be in the real jungle.

the only downside would be that getting to town is slightly more challenging but the colectivos pass by the main road.

Lovely staff! we arrived really early after our night bus which was not a problem and were warmly received. Well equipped kitchen and the cabins as well as the showers/toilets are super clean. although it is located next to the road it didn’t bother me one bit and you can hear monkeys every night howling in the trees.

there was nothing not to like, maybe beware of the howler monkeys which make the noise late at night and very early morning.

The hotel was beautiful, we stayed in a private cabana with a shared bathroom & shower. The area and location is stunning. The beds were super comfortable and although the rooms were basic no frills like tv etc, the overall experience was really cosy and comfortable. We would have stayed longer if we could!! Showers and toilets were very clean, the communal area was cute you could play games and order pizza!

Such a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere and staff were so helpful and friendly. The Cabañas are basic but comfortable and there is a well stocked shared kitchen and seating area with table football, darts and board games. Well placed for ruins and you can book waterfalls and other tours onsite for reasonable price. Howling monkeys in the surrounding trees just made it all the more special

It is mentioned in almost all of the reviews but yes, you are off the highway, there is noise, there are roosters in the morning and other precarious sounds as you are in nature but this did not deter us in the slightest. If we find ourselves in Palenque again we will without a doubt be staying at Cabañas Bambutan!

Patricio and the staff at Cabañas Bambutan went absolutely above and beyond to make our stay as great as it was. We stayed for 3 nights and felt welcomed in from the very first night. Patricio went out of his way countless times for my partner and I, calling the local restaurant to deliver us food, providing us the best information to get to the waterfalls and catching the colectivos from out the front of the property, to dropping us into town and to the bus station for our early morning departure. His hospitality and kindness are a rare breed these days and we are extremely thankful for it.
