Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandMosquitoes are a big issue, but going to a jungle hut I guess you just need to be prepared for it. You need to register upfront for the yoga classes or else they are canceled.
Good place to relax. We even saw some spider monkeys in the trees.

EstoniaKeep in mind, that the hotel is a bit apart from Bacalar town and other attractions, so coming here by a car is a good idea. Where are some sunbeds near by the pool, but unfortunately they are not in use (no cushions, stacked in the corner), i think it would be great if guests have opportunity to lie down and relax.
We hotel itself is beautiful, located in the jungle. Relaxing atmosphere, good breakfast. Nice wide terrace. We booked a sailing boat trip to the lagoon from the hotel and it was perfect. Additionally I enjoyed the yoga class at 8am on the upper deck!

CanadaThe parking area is quite steep, we needed a run up with our front wheeled drive. It's a bit buggy, so bring bug spray! I was excited to check out their yoga session but the instructor had called in sick. However, they did not inform us of this even though we inquired about it earlier in the day. It was fine, we just did it ourselves. It has a beautiful view. I can imagine some pretty epic sunsets from there. Only downside is that the water tank is a bit noisy when people are showering? so not sure if they could do anything about it.
The property was absolutely lovely. It really gave you a sense that you were in a secluded jungle. You hear all the peaceful jungle noises, while feeling safe and sound in your bug screened cabin. Loved the amenities including the pool and fire pit. They share a private pier so you can access the lake. The pier is super cute! It also has a resident cat named Michi! so be sure to give him a pet!

United KingdomLeti, the lady at reception was very kind. We had to leave very early in the morning, and she made the exception to prepare breakfast for us before the established time so we could leave on time. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, close to the lagoon, and they offer bikes, kayaks and paddle boards for free. Unfortunately, we could not enjoy the Yoga practice because we had to leave very early in the morning. We got recommended a 4-hour tour to Bacalar Lagoon that was the highlight of the stay. Thank you, Leti, for your kindness.

United StatesThey don't want you to flush the toilet paper and use the bin to throw the used paper in a small bathroom and there is no air conditioning. Although it was clean, it didn't give us the comfortable feeling.
Hot water was plentiful and was readily available.

ArgentinaThe lagoon area dedicated for the hotel isn't the best with young children, and would recommended to bring shoes to go in the water. We went more towards Bacalar (lot of nice beach clubs easy and fun with kids such as los rapidos...) to enjoy the lagoon which is only 20 min away. The area jungle + lagoon makes it an ideal environment for mosquitos so bring spray or buy some before coming!
The hotel is very nice in the middle of the palm trees with good size rooms and terrace which was really enjoyable - view on the swimming pool! The staff was lovely, always kind, helpful and welcoming. The breakfast is very good as well as very filling, well prepared and presented thanks to the 2 dedicated cooks 😊! Also the lagoon is at 5 min away cycling (free bikes available at the hotel), walking or driving is possible too.

BelgiumThe neighbors play music untill late at night and they throw fire crackers around at 4 am and 8 am, which make so much noise that we thought it were gun shots at first.
It’s a cool setting in the jungle, close to the laguna, only 25 min from Bacalar and the most beautiful part of the laguna. They offer free yoga classes at 7:30 am every morning. Breakfast was great as well. Every room has a terrace with a hammock, we loved to end and start our day there.

NetherlandsThe hotel does not have laguna access. There's a 'beach club' with kayaks etc but it takes 10m or so to walk there. Also there's not a lot of sun on the property, because of all the trees. Breakfast is tasty but it felt a bit cheap. As if they're trying to give you as little as possible. Just 3 tiny slices of apple with the (sightly undercooked) pancakes for example. And no salsa picante with the huevos a la mexicana.
The hotel looks nice and is surrounded by jungle. The yoga classes are good.

Nice accommodation in the middle of the jungle. Relaxed ambience and very attentive staff. The pool and garden are as beautiful in reality as they are in the pictures. If the sky is clear, the stars are amazing from the roof terrace.

United KingdomThe road to get to it was in an appalling condition which was not good to get a car down. They also said they had a club you could drive to but we had to turn round as the road was so potted we were worried about the rental car. It also took about 40 minutes to drive to as the road was so bad. That was a pity as getting to the lake is not easy as it is surrounded by privately owned sections. That spoilt the feel of the lake as we never really got to see it. Same applied at bacalar. The hotel is not actually on the lake which I assumed it was from the pictures.
The place was in a lovely setting which was very peaceful. Loved the fires lit at night which made it very relaxing. Room was good size and staff very friendly.
