Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe rooms are very small.
The breakfast was delicious. We liked that it was very quiet and also liked the coffee shop right next door. The decor is very appealing and relaxing. It is a good place to go at the end of the day once you have explored the city. The staff is extremely nice and the hotel is very safe.

AustraliaIt’s a short walk from Centro which is both good and bad. May feel a bit out of the way for some people but wasn’t an issue for us.
Quiet property located just out of Centro in Oaxaca. Staff were very polite and helpful. Rooms were clean and tidy. Loved the rooftop with the hammocks to chill after a day out and about.

Lovely, tranquil oasis and a wonderful base to explore Oaxaca. Staff very friendly and helpful. Cooked breakfasts served daily. Lovely relaxing spaces in which to sit, read etc

United KingdomThe bathroom design is in stark constrast the the rest of the room and hotel with it's red and white colouring, but was fine. The shower could do with an upgrade, as it took 5 minutes for the hot water to come on and the pressure was not the greatest. There are seperate taps for hot and cold, so some care with balancing between the two was needed.
The hotel is located on a busy street but upon entering the door, you are transported into an oasis of calm. The aesthetic of the hotel is lovely with natural and earthy tones. We enjoyed the terrace upstairs with the hammocks to relax in and there is an area where you can help yourself to tea/coffee if you would like. Breakfast was a highlight of our stay, with a curated menu each day with two options with the opportunity to eat local food, but there is also the option of having yogurt and granola instead, along with all the fruit, tea/coffee, orange juice and pastries. When we had to leave early for a tour one day, they prepared a packed breakfast for us to start our day. The room was small but comfortable with air-conditioning which was appreciated as it was very hot during our stay. They provided drinking water in our room every day and were able to ask for more when we ran out. The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from the centre down one main road, so it was very easy to navigate there. It is close to the square with the nieves (Oaxacan ice creams), so a nice treat to have on the walk back each night. We had a great stay and didn't want to leave!

AustriaThe breakfast is a little bit poor; if you don't want the thin American coffee you have to pay extra. There is a coffee shop at the hotel - but not used as a bar in the evening.
The hotel is quite new and architectural styled in all aspects with flowers and trees; the room nr. 12 is spacious; the personal is friendly. To the centre you need around 10 minutes foot walk. You have an own table in front of your room in the very beautiful patio.

CanadaI liked everything.
The Ayook is a beautiful hotel full if charm and history. The staff were wonderful, the location perfect for visiting all the areas of the city that we love. Though the rooms are small they lack nothing and the beds are very comfortable. In addition they serve a delicious breakfast and have two rooftop patios. How can you not love this? We highly recommend this hotel. Christine

SpainThe rooms give to the courtyard, so there are no windows to the outside. But this may be the normal architecture in the area, just not sure.
A very nice little hotel on the edge of the old part of the city. Very clean and quiet, nice breakfast that changes every day - a nice touch!

United StatesOverall, loved AYOOK, great establishment, the breakfast tables are all around the central courtyard, which means you can actually talk to other guests each morning (or go sit on the lovely rooftop). Was nice to meet other people staying here. The rooms can be small, not a ton of frills, but it's a very sweet establishment (extremely well decorated), and not at all a far walk over to the main plaza.

United StatesThere wasn't any issue really. Even when I requested a cab 🚖 I had a clean cab with A/C . Try and keep it that way .
Well, everything was fine ,now the cuisine is totally up to par with 4 Mexicans who visited Ayook . Of the 4 - 1 Dual citizen from Mex - Spain 🇪🇸 . 1 Mexican National + 2 U.S. citizens - Mexican American . When I ordered coffee for the room I had it in 5 minutes . Last but not least was the quite atmosphere in the lobby all things considering .

United StatesDoor locking mechanism is a bit counter-intuitive, but I was only there one night so I didn’t get a chance to really sort it out.
Very pretty with the inner courtyard. My tamale at breakfast was the best tamale I had during my week in Oaxaca. It’s just on the edge of the Centro so you can walk to things in 10-15 minutes.

Costa RicaWe enjoyed our stay at AYOOK very much, the staff is incredible, the hotel has a very nice setup with many nice details. The rooms are small but comfortable, with wardrobes that allows to keep the available space free of clutter. The hotel offers everything you might need. The breakfast is very good with fruits everyday and a different menu for everyday of the week. We had a vehicle and it was convenient for us because the hotel offers a parking space nearby.
