Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesBeds weren't bad, but they weren't the nicest I've been in. The AC hours are a little stingy (10 PM to 8 AM iirc) and can make it hard if you want to take a siesta to avoid the afternoon heat or to rest after morning dives. There is no indoor kitchen or social area, so bring lots of DEET bug spray and be prepared for some sultry afternoons/nights hanging out on the patio.
Kathy the landlady is amazing--she gives an incredible amount of detail and tips for Cozumel on check in, and is almost always around to answer questions about the island. The pool is very nice, the hostel is social without being a party hostel, and you get a good mix of ages from 18 to 60+ so you get lots of different perspectives. Less than a 10 minute walk from the Malecón (coastal street), grocery stores, and other amenities.

CanadaMy only complaint is that there aren’t railings on each side of the top bunks, which means it would be possible to fall off one side if you aren’t careful.
Loved the pool and the yard (especially the hammocks). There’s a fully equipped kitchen and a BBQ. This hostel isn’t very big, so you get to know all the other guests during your stay. Cathy was very helpful with all her recommendations of things to do and places to eat.

United StatesI actually didn't mind these things at all but just to know: no privacy curtains on the beds. Thats all:)
I would 100% stay here again. The women who owns it is so lovely and helpful- all of her recommendations were great! The dive shop she recommends also has a 5% discount for guests who dive with them (Deep Blue) which is right in town. I also dove a at a place outside of town that was great but the taxi costs did add up so I ultimately preferred Deep Blue. The pool was clean and well used. The other guest were super friendly and social (I was solo and never spent an evening alone).

United StatesThere is nothing not to like
Kathy’s little piece of paradise couldn’t be better. From the wonderful pool, well looked after dorms to the super clean community kitchen… the vibe here is wonderful. Great part of town away from the hustle and bustle and close to local restaurants and supermarkets. I can for 2 days and stayed for 2 weeks. Kathy provides a welcome respite from partying in Playa and has a top notch place to relax, chill , dive and immerse in the Cozumel culture. Thanks for everything and looking forward to my next stay!

SpainThe weather wasn't amazing, but you could still hang out in the common area enjoying the backyard views. Caty has a great knowledge of the area and gives you tips to discover the essence of Cozumel

MexicoIf the aircon started a little earlier than 10pm that would’ve been nice
Kathy is an amazing owner and host - takes a lot of time with each guest to give them a lot of very helpful information. The pool is really big and nice - everyone tends to gather around after scuba diving in the morning and chat for hours. Big spacious backyard, comfortable beds, cold AC (only at night), and plenty of showers and toilets around.

DenmarkThe host could sometimes come off as a bit strict and her introduction to the hostel seemed very rehearsed and paced, which didn't feel like a warm welcomst - even though I'm sure that was the intention. But that's a small thing and on the other hand you will be sure that everything is organised and structured.
The host was very nice and helpful. The environment in the hostel was very good, and it was easy to meet people. The rooms felt really clean and there was a good Aircon at night. One of the best hostels I have stayed in so far, and have recommended it to everybody on my way.

United KingdomFelt like I was staying in someone else’s house as a guest and not a hostel. Kathy the owner gives an in-depth introduction that’s well rehearsed and to a level of detail that’s just not necessary. Not a place to easily make friends and do activities with
Good WiFi, reasonably priced and had a pool
