Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe property is very dated once past the foyer and the air con is quite poor in the rooms. There were no facilities to make tea or coffee in the room or elsewhere in the hotel, or even get some water in the evening. Didn’t find the pizzeria.
Lovely location right next to the gardens and the lift down to marina. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Decent sized rooms. Breakfast good.

United KingdomNo air-conditioning in our room, and it was very hot and muggy - needed to keep the windows open to let any air in, but ended up bitten by mozzies and the traffic was really loud from really early in the morning (not the hotel's fault!).
Lovely reception staff, the location was excellent. Felt very safe and secure, and a beautiful old building.

United KingdomSadly the bathroom was very dated. The water pressure was poor so the bath took an age to fill just a few inches. The shower was temperamental and had no power. No bathroom shelves or towel rails. Power outlets were scattered around the room but not next to the bed. A mixture of 2 and 3 pin,
Excellent location next to the Upper Barrakka Gardens. Amazing views from our room.

Very pleasant rooftop location for breakfast. Great location in Valletta as it is so near many of the main attractions. Easy access to ferries, down the lift, or buses.

AustraliaWhile the bed was comfortable I think perhaps the mattress, and definitely the pillows, could be better for the standard of this hotel.
Fantastic location right in Castille Square and next to Upper Barrakka Gardens. Handy to everything. Room spacious and well equipped. Breakfast buffet excellent. Staff friendly and efficient.

UkraineHotel and our room are old, so everything felt slightly neglected: not very comfy furniture, weird placement of power sockets, old floor etc. It's a pity that room didn' t have coffe/tea maker, and the hotel cafe didn't serve any drinks after 6 pm.
Lovely hotel with authentic atmosphere of old Maltese palace and with great location- just 1 minute from Barracca gardens, 5 minutes from Cathedral and Grand Master's palace. Very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel serves very decent breakfast, and the view from the roof restaurant is breathtaking. Beds were comfy, bathroom is very clean, and our room had loveliest balcony over Castille square. Wifi was good. We had 'welcome' bottles of water and a fridge in the room

United KingdomThe whole hotel desperately needs updating. There is so much potential! We had a Superior double room, which had an amazing view of the square, but a lot of traffic/pedestrian noise as no double glazing. No aircon, but couldn't sleep with windows open due to the noise... I would imagine this would be very uncomfortable peak summer months. The furniture was badly placed, making moving around the bed difficult and using the dressing table impossible! There was a hairdryer, but the only plug socket was on the other side of the room in the corner!!
The location is fantastic, next to Upper Barrakka Gardens (the drinks kiosk has very reasonable prices!). Good breakfast with a view. Also the staff are super friendly and helpful.

AustraliaPretty basic single room. Door leads to balcony and very noisy street. Hot water in shower took ages to warm up and walls quite thin so could hear neighbours. All in all, I got what I paid for!

United KingdomThe room was next to a busy road and windows don't keep sound out, feels like you on the road. Luckily, I brought ear plugs otherwise very loud.
Very polite staff, clean room, hotel looks beautiful which keeps it's old school charm on the inside and outside.

United KingdomThe toilet was a little old fashioned, small, and not the cleanest. And no fan, so would remain steamy and uncomfortable for hours after a hot shower. AC stops cooling after a while. I can imagine this being uncomfy in the height of summer
Location is fabulous. View was amazing, looking out onto a square. Room was huge (I'm used to tiny modern hotels!) Room was super quite as well, bearing in mind the square was full and the hotel was full too. Didn't hear a peep from other guests! TV in the room, with a selection of channels. Breakfast was basic, but fresh, and refreshed often. Not stale etc.

MontenegroThe hotel is very old, so some doors don't work properly, there is mold on the walls, and some items can't be cleaned properly. Nevertheless, it didn't bother us, since the advantages the hotel has (such as the location and the price) are more important to us.
The location is perfect, right next to the Upper Barraka Gardens. All the staff were kind and helpful. The breakfast was great, and the view from the restaurant's rooftop is probably the best in Valletta.
