Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SlovakiaPrice is little higher than I expect in country like Montenegro.
Location is great, 5 minutes to bus station, 5 minutes to old town, in front of the sea and boat tours port. Receptionist Dora is an angel! 🥰 Clean and absolutely perfect working hostel.

United KingdomGreat location in kotor next to the old town and bus station with a supermarket next door. Staff were really friendly and helpful upon arrival telling best things to do in the area. Beds were comfy with curtains for added privacy with charging port for each bed. Showers were clean with decent sized kitchen and seating to cook with

SerbiaThere is nothing I didn't like, I only missed one soft chair for book reading in the afternoon in the lounge area.
Hostel is super central, extremely clean and stuff is super polite and professional. I felt safe and protected. Music in lounge area and in the kitchen was super nice. House rules are clear and while I was there respected by all guests, which is super.

United StatesCheck-out at 10 is not unheard-of but it's also not the standard. I don't think anyone would be much inconvenienced by moving check-out to 11. The receptionist seemed a bit irritated when I checked out at about 10:15 after getting delayed exploring the secret staircase by the Gurdic Gate. That being said, there is no problem leaving your bag for a few hours after check-out, so of course I can be blamed for not having checked out before leaving for a morning walk. The owner has posted a list of rules that are really a long, sarcastic rant. They may have helped the owner blow off steam, but I can't say they serve any positive purpose posted in the rooms, even if, stripped of the anger and sarcasm, they are reasonable enough. Most people won't read them anyway. There is also a wall of shame at the reception desk with photos of supposed guests labeled with their various offenses ("I spilled coffee", etc.). I hope it is just a joke with a message, but I didn't ask. Anyway, this stuff didn't come into play while I was there--it just made me wonder a bit about the owner, whom I don't believe I met.
The introduction to the area by the receptionist was unusually informative and helpful. I would rate this hostel as moderately sociable. It's not one of those in which everybody talks to everybody, but it's not too hard to make conversation with some of the guests. I picked up some actionable tips from a guy in the dining area. The bed curtains are an immense asset and are the main reason I chose this hostel. While it seems to me that they are becoming more common, there are still many hostels with beds on which curtains could easily be installed that still have not implemented this simple enhancement of the guest experience. My oversized backpack did not fit into the locker, but the locker was big enough for everything of greatest value. Overall, I found this place to be a well-organized hostel that is up to contemporary standards.

AustraliaI mistakenly left a day early - got my dates messed up! Would have loved to of been there longer!
What a great place! Super great location close to the bus station and grocery store for your supplies. Easy walking distance into old town. But what sells this place like no other is the super clean bathrooms, dorms, communal areas - I mean even the light switches seemed to be wiped down daily! Aircon can be run at the discretion of the occupants which makes it very comfortable. Christina is a gem! So funny and a great attitude. Dora too! Great for a laugh, great about introducing you to Kotor and what you should do with your time. Do it - book this place - you don’t need to party hostel - you need the happy hostel!

United KingdomOne tiny thing - the bedside lights are SO bright - if one person has theirs on late at night even with their curtains closed the whole room is lit up.
There’s nothing not to like - the location is fantastic, the place is spotlessly clean, the staff helpful, explaining all the local sights and giving advice on which trips are worthwhile and which you can do yourself for less money, and also the best places to eat and avoid. The bunks are comfortable and even the top ones have privacy curtains. Every room has aircon. There’s a washing machine - only €3 and washing lines out back. I think this is probably my favourite hostel and I’ve stayed in lots. I was sorry to leave.

TurkeyThe bed is little more softer than I like :(
First of all a special thank to receptionist Cristina. She is very professional, smiling and friendly. Location is great. Very close to the old town but away from its crowd and close to the main bus station of Kotor. Close to the supermarket. Thank to the cleaning staff, the hostel is simply shining. I could leave my luggage after check out till the departure time of my bus. We could use AC the way we want. Toilet and showers are enough and very clean. Whenever in Kotor I choose to stay at the Hostel Pupa.

This was by far the best hostel I have ever stayed at. The beds were very comfortable, and upon check-in, you are given clean sheets and a towel. They were quick to help when I needed an extra towel. The location is excellent, and I will definitely choose this place again.
