Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsToo bad, near the hotel there is a little bar that seems to have permission to turn on music till midnight. So the music gets louder around 9 pm and exactly at midnight it’s over. But if you would like to sleep earlier the sound of the disco music is annoying. You can still hear clearly even when you close all your windows.
In the best part of the old town.

DenmarkThe bathroom had a pretty bad sewage smell and it helped after we showered in the morning, but right when you wake up the smell is really bad and you really need to make sure that the bathroom door is closed. The worst thing was the bar that had extremely loud music until 12.
The room was very cozy, true boutique hotel vibes. The staff is really nice and professional. We got a room upgrade to a triple room, so that was nice, since we were mother and daughter. Great size of the rooms and bathroom, considering the location.

United KingdomWe loved everything, nothing to dislike!
Beautiful hotel in the centre of the old town, exceptional room on the second floor, beautifully furnished, very clean, large comfortable bed, old style elegance with all modern conveniences. Local music went on rather late but we stayed on a Friday night so this was not unusual for a weekend. The restaurant served a fabulous breakfast with friendly attentive staff. The hotel has its own secure parking just outside the city wall a short walk away. They have a buggy to take you there when you check out, we very much appreciated Luka taking us. We look forward to staying here again when we come back to Kotor, so much to see to fit into such a short visit so we have to come back!

United StatesHotel Monte Cristo is a lovely hotel in the middle of Kotor. The staff were lovely and helped us with finding the parking in advance of our stay. Our room was very nice and had everything we needed. It had a nice historical character but was well updated and absolutely spotless. The breakfast was delicious with lots of options. We would definitely stay here if visiting Kotor again. Thank you to the kind and helpful staff!

IsraelRooms are small, and I felt crowded. The bathroom needs a new renovation/design and is too small. Curtains do not completely shade. Needs different furniture to fit a small room.
Location, location, location!!! In the heart of the old city. Free parking. Charming hotel. Clean. Friendly and helping staff. The restaurant is charming and well designed.

United KingdomIt was all quite lovely
This is a beautiful boutique hotel, right at the heart of Old Kotor. The staff were, from the very beginning of the booking, really friendly and helpful. It's not exactly easy to find, but the more you explore the town you realise it's actually quite hard to miss! It sounds odd but trust me, you'll see what I mean. Our room was beautiful and looked over the little square. At night there was music from the bars next door but it didn't keep us awake. We knew to expect this from reading other reviews, so maybe take earplugs if you're sensitive to people enjoying a drink after 10pm. Breakfast was lovely, everything you need to set you up for a good explore of the town and maybe a walk up to the fortress. The free parking for the hotel was a great bonus. Just a 5 minute walk from the hotel. I would really recommend Hotel Monte Cristo and its terrific staff.

United KingdomIf there is live music on in the square then you can definitely hear it in the room, but you have to expect this from staying in the heart of the old town and actually it didn't disturb our sleep.
The hotel staff were extremely accommodating and could not do enough for us. When my partner felt unwell on the day of check-out, the hotel gave us a late-check out and arranged onward transfers for us to out next destination. The breakfast staff were extremely friendly, and for exploring Kotor and the surrounding areas the location is fantastic.
