Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaMaybe the cappuccino… but the espresso was perfect!
The staff at Hivernage Hotel were beyond kind. I’m not a fussy traveller but the staff wanted to make sure that I was truely welcomed and had absolutely everything I wanted down to the exact coffee I drink! My beautiful room was very spacious and had a lovely traditional sitting area overlooking the swimming pool and the red city. I stayed at Hivernage for a work meeting - which went without a hitch due to the excellent wi-fi - but I also loved meeting the ladies in the spa and enjoying a little pampering and poolside time as well. Such a lovely hotel!

AustraliaThe hotel didn’t seem like a 5 star hotel. The photos were nicer than in real life. More of a 4.5 star. It’s the least luxurious 5 star hotel I’ve stayed in. I believe this is reflected in the price (it being alot cheaper than the other 5 star hotels in Hivernage). The breakfast was ho-hum (not what you’d expect from a luxury hotel) and we found hairs a few times in our food. Also, it was a loud at night (loud music until late from Nobu restaurant across the road), and we could hear the guests in the room above us.
The staff were excellent. They allowed us to check-in hours early on our arrival which was a life-saver with our young kids. Staff were super playful with our kids for the duration of our stay.

United KingdomThe pool is very small and didn’t have a shallow end so it was difficult to relax in the pool for non-swimmers. Due to the size there wasn’t a lot of sun covering the pool which meant the water was freezing despite the heat. During breakfast the drink service was extremely slow. We’d place our drinks order when we arrived but receive the drinks after we had already finished our food. They had one bottle of water out on the table for all customers to use and were slow in replacing them when they had finished. The location is very fancy and close to expensive restaurants but there wasn’t any convenience stores near by so not great when you need a bottle of water or some snacks. They had a rooftop bar which was nice but music was extremely loud and played until 2/3am in the morning. Great for if you want to go clubbing but not great when you have young children as it could be heard all through out the night.
The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The reception staff were very friendly and having on-site restaurants were really helpful for travelling with a family. Room service was very quick and the rooms were cleaned everyday. The hotel was only a 15 minute walk from the Medina and located in a lovely area.

United Arab EmiratesNo toothbrush nor comb in the room. I had to ask the reception desk for these 2 items. And this for a 5 stars hotels is not okay. The receptionist did his best and I sled the room service. Funny enough no comb was available in the hotel. I travelled very light for less than 24 hours. I didn’t bring my toothbrush and my comb as I expected to find normally find them in a 5 stars hotel. The breakfast was lacking variety of the food and no corner for people with any food allergy.
The room was good

FranceThe swimming pool was freezing. The service by the pool was very slow, we waited almost an hour for 2 sandwiches and a bottle of water.. which was a pity because the food was good, but unfortunately the wait was too long. And the hotel can get a bit noisy at nights, as the rooftop parties nearby are loud.
Very clean hotel. Nice room. Available cot for babies. Friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was complete. Good food at restaurant. Great location and amazing view from rooftop.

GibraltarNot at all a fault of the hotel, but around 4 & 5 am the 2 night clubs across the street close and the noise is terrible with cars sounding horns in the ensuing traffic chaos. I got woken up both nights at both times. Be advised you might not want a room facing the junction at the front of the hotel.
Hotel has good facilities and is easy walking distance to Jemaa el-Fna square and the Medina. I was pleasantly surprised to find I was upgraded to a larger room for free. Staff throughout the hotel are friendly, polite and helpful. The room was very clean and spacious and the bed was comfortable. We ate at the sky roof top restaurant and had a lovely meal and a nice bottle of Moroccan made wine. The service was very good. The hotel serves a really nice buffet breakfast with plenty of choices.
