Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NorwayThe room and the kitchen was the ONLY thing that was clean. My balcony hasn't been cleaned for a year. Bird poop and cobweb literally everywhere. The downstairs terrace had cobweb all over, under the tables and along the wooden panels on the sides. These things doesn't even need cleaning, just a few minutes with a suitable brush! The pokey shared toilet had a plumbing problem. (Yes, I know to not flush anything else but 1's and 2's down there). Go downstairs for no.2, unless you want it to come up again through the shower drain. I had no hot water in the shower on my first night and on my last morning. They seem to heat it up on the whim. Staff doesn't speak a word of English, and that happens, but usually they have found a way to communicate anyway, but here they were not at all friendly. I nearly got turned away when I came as a guy put his arms in a big cross and said NO, before I had said a word. They understood the word booking, and I did get my room straight away. I asked for Wifi password, and just got a no. Another guest who spoke English, helped me.
You can't beat the location. The hostel is next to the (quiet) bus station. There is a supermarket across the street and the sea is just 30 seconds down the road. Nice sunset from there. My room was surprisingly spacious, clean and nice, with wood panel walls. I was lucky and got a room on the sunshine side of the hostel, and the room kept the heat well during the much colder nights. The room even had a balcony with simple chairs. The bed and pillows were comfortable. There is a nice, sunny terrace sitting area out front, and a big garden sitting area out on the back. Excellent Wifi on the terrace, but no Wifi in the rooms. Since my room was facing the bus station, I could pick up the Free city Wifi4Eu network on the balcony. The common kitchen looked fine and clean, and the common bathroom was only shared between 2 rooms. The dorm room has 2 glass window walls with sea view. The hostel could so easily have been fantastic....but,but,but.....

LithuaniaThe beds could be a bit further away from one another as you need to squeeze to get to the top bed. Also, it would be nice to have space to keep things, like shelves or lockers.
It was nice to chill in the inner garden, clean and tidy rooms, nice staff and people you share room with. The location is the best. Never had to wait in a queue for wc or shower.

LithuaniaTowels would be greatly appreciated. I'm happy I read the reviews in advance, and we brought our own. The walls are paper thin. We could hear people snoring in the other room and every other noise. My strong recommendation is to have earplugs with you. The bed could use a thicker mattress as this one was thin and on its last leg. Since this is the seaside and the rooms have no air conditioning, bug nets on the windows would be a great addition. It is impossible to open the windows or balcony doors in the evenings without letting all the wildlife in.
The location is nothing short of amazing. Everything is within walking distance, and you feel like you're in the heart of the city. The cleanliness was okay; the sheets were definitely changed and fresh. The armchair was a great addition; it was very comfortable and fun to relax in. There is definitely enough furniture for a shorter or longer stay.

GermanyI stayed in the dorm. There were no lockers and the door could not be locked. What is more, the washing machines for the entire accommodation were in that dorm so other guests would just walk in and out. The frame of some of the beds were broken. Additionally the beds were really noisy at the slightest movement. Moreover, I heard guests complaining about the cleanliness. However, I had the impression that it was not dirty because the staff is doing their best to keep the place clean but everything looks a bit run down. I would say the place really needs some renovation and refurbishing.
The staff is super friendly and helpful. The location of the accommodation is great. It's directly at the center of Nida next to the tourist information. It has really affordable prices especially for Nida. Therefore, keep your expectations in line with the prices.

NorwayThis is an old property with its charm and missings. The dorm with 16 bed gets really hot in summer. There’s 2 toilets but it’s located in the floor downstairs. Could be cleaner in general. Balcony door is broken (in dorm)and needs to be changed. No escape route in the room. Information should be in English also.
The location is right in the center of Nida. Staff were friendly. Great backyard. Spot with place to eat outside. Fridge in the room. New upgraded showers. Functional common kitchen

LithuaniaThe dorm room has very squeaky beds that are very close to one another and the room isn’t very clean, so the price doesn’t really make sense as there are better accommodation options in town for the same amount of money
