Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

ItalyWe stayed initially one night and the staff (Asanka and his beautiful family) have been really good from the beginning. The rooms (cabanas) are amazing, clean, big and rustic. Then we left for a place in Galle, planning to stay there for 4 nights. Terrible mistake, we decided to come back to Asanka and stay here for additional 3 nights. In so few time I can say that Asanka and his wife are now friends for us. Best human experience in Sri Lanka during our holiday. We also had the chance to see turtles ALL ALONE and without any other tourist, thanks to Asanka that the very first night brought us to live this extraordinary experience. A place where we left our hearts and souls and where we truly hope to come back one day. Do yourself a favour and give Asanka the possibility to became your friend! P.s. breakfast pancakes and fruits are AMAZING. Dinner is something extraordinary too!

Very friendly owner. The accommodation was very comfortable and relaxing, situated right next to the beach with easy access to local restaurants and attractions, including the turtle conservation project. Best place we stayed in Sri Lanka.

IndiaStayed here for a couple of nights and absolutely loved our experience at Turtle Watch Cabana. It's a lovely property away from the crowds, nestled in nature while also offering a very comfortable stay with beautiful cabanas. The beach is a quick 5-minute walk from the property, and it's free of tourists and crowds. The host Asanka took us to the beach at night to watch a giant turtle lay eggs. This was the highlight of our trip and an unbeatable experience. We were treated to great breakfasts and meals. Cannot recommend this stay enough if you want to spend some quiet time in nature and bliss.

United StatesNothing, we loved it. The cabanas are even cuter than the photos.
All of the cabins had air conditioning which we were super happy about and the included breakfast was wonderful including a mountain of fruit in addition to other wonderful items that changed daily! The optional dinner for 2500 was equally delicious a with big portions. There are also a few great restraints/bars within an easy walk. Probably for many the highlight will be watching the turtles, the host knows exactly where they are and then are laying eggs due to his network of turtle watchers!

GermanyThis place is so remote and peaceful! You can hear the sound of rolling waves, birds and other animals. No beach bars and human sound around. The beautiful cabanas are well hidden under shady trees. The room was spacious the bathroom has an open shower. We, that’s me and my two young daughters, were the only guests. The host took us to the turtle beach at night where we spend some hours spotting two huge greenback turtles digging holes and disposing their eggs. This was a unique beautiful experience. We were all alone there. He works for the conservation center as an official guide. Groups consist of dozens of people normally. Finally the dinner (classical Sri Lankan rice and curry) and breakfast were delicious. Kids loved it. I would definitely recommend this place.

United KingdomThe frogs were very cute, but we were less fond of some of the other critters that took refuge in the bathroom from time to time!
We had the most amazing stay here! We ended up staying in the big cabana which was absolutely beautiful and had the best bathroom. (It's worth noting the bathroom windows are open so it's definitely not bug or frog proof! We loved all the little frogs though). By far the must comfortable bed we've had in Sri Lanka. The whole place has been really well thought out and feels like a little jungle oasis. The owner is lovely and took us to see the nesting turtles which has been a highlight of our trip, the most amazing experience. Can't recommend it enough!

Spent a couple of days here with a friend. The Cabana was big and the bed really comfy. The open air shower was good and a resident frog was a wee bonus. The wifi worked perfectly and there was fresh fruit and pancakes for breakfast. Its hard to find as google maps take you on a track that becomes too rough but a quick phone call to the owner Asanka soon sorted that out and he can show you a much better route to get there. There's a few restaurants and shacks dotted about but the beach still has a wild feel about it, there spots where you can go in the water but you need to be careful. The highlight of course was when Asanka took us out to see the turtles, what a fantastic experience away from the crowds. Not only did we see a turtle laying her eggs but also came across some babies hatching. It was one of the highlights of our visit to this beautiful island. Asanka offers an experience that you'll rarely find and we feel so lucky to have been there.

PolandLocation was simply beautiful ,calm and quiet. Bungalow was very very nice and shower without a roof was my favourite part, great experience. But the best part about this place are turtles. Owner can take you for a night trip to see turtles laying eggs on the beach and really went an extra mile here. Unforgettable experience, nature is really amazing. Breakfast was delicious and whole family very kind and helpful. 100% recommend!

South AfricaGoogle Maps is outdated and takes you on a longer road that is in very poor condition. There is another road that is shorter and in better condition (not marked on google maps). Rather, get exact directions from the host.
The location and price is perfect. In walking distance to the beach and village. The huts are a gem and perfectly equipped for what we needed. Asanka, our host, was great. We immediately felt at home. The welcome juice was very refreshing, and breakfast was equally delicious. In the evening, Asanka took us to see turtles laying eggs on the beach. He is part of the turtle watch conservation project. We were given specific instructions on what to do to ensure the turtles are not disturbed. He was very knowledgeable, and we left enlightened. He went out of his way to help us. We highly recommend a visit.

AustraliaInside of the unit was a little bit dark. Overhang of the roof was a little too low to avoid hitting your head if you are tall person. The door way was a little too narrow for large person. But it’s understandable for the aesthetic.
The aesthetic of the unit and tropical gardens were a perfect match for our vacation. It was a a short stroll to the beach, where you can spot sea turtles if you are lucky, and two restaurants. The host were nice and helpful. Good breakfast!

EVERYTHING!!! This is a wonderful and tranquil place where you can find time to do nothing, just read a book or take a short walk to the beach. If you're lucky you can also watch turtles. We think it also is a very nice place from where you can go to Tangalle or to the Kalametiya bird sanctuary. We stayed two nights, but loved to have stayed more if we would have had the time. The owner and his wife make you feel very welcome. You can have a delicious dinner and there's a fine breakfast (with lots of fruit). Very good shower and you have a good bed to sleep on. For us the pillows were a bit thick and firm (personal thing): it was not a problem at all to have them changed for thinner ones. The airconditioning was very quiet (big plus!). You have your own private place to sit in front of your cottage in a lovely surrounding of all kinds of plants and trees. We sure would love to come again!

Bosnia and HerzegovinaIt's a bit far away to reach, and the road is really bad. Still, once you're there, there's local food, amazing beaches, really all you need if you're a nature lover.
An absolutely amazing setting of hand made cabanas inside what looks like a real botanical garden. Incredibly spacious cabanas with high ceilings and huge beds. Good food and really nice hosts. Make sure you arrange turtle watching with the owner and ask all you need to know in advance - it is not easy for them to take into account different tourists' expectations and also take good care of the turtles.

AustriaEverything was just amazing!
We had an amazing stay at Turtle Watch Cabana!!! This was the best place that we've had in Sri Lanka. The family was so wonderful, and their boy was a perfect little tour guide! He played with our boy, showed us a lot of places, fruits, and was just lovely. The location is perfect, very near the beach and the owner is a perfect person to show you the turtles. That was an extraordinary experience for us. They also showed us a rock pool where we could swim as the waves were pretty big. Food was amazing too and we ate there all the time! We cannot recommend this place highly enough! 10 stars!

United KingdomNothing at all!
Asanka our host and his family were lovely, so welcoming and obliging. The cabana was beautiful, set in their garden - very peaceful, clean and roomy. Asanka works for Turtle Watch and kindly took us out to the beach on our first night. An absolutely amazing experience! We saw several turtles, witnessed egg laying, hatchlings - just incredible! The Turtle Watch officers are all very knowledgeable and the work they do so incredible. We visited during the low season so everywhere was very quiet - during the day visiting Rekawa beach (which is stunning) we barely saw anyone. We had breakfast and dinner at the cabana both days of our stay and it was absolutely delicious! Brinjal curry is one of my favourites and it was definitely the best I have ever tasted (the large array of other curries were also wonderful!). We went into Tangalle for a wander one day and Asanka kindly dropped us off in his tuk tuk and similarly transported us on a trip to Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary. I really can't recommend Turtle Watch Cabana enough!
