Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyThe hotel is in front of the beach, and 10min walk from the beautiful Silent Beach. The room is more like a little villa and has a very nice private garden. The host is very welcoming, they treated us like we were part of the family and gave us everything we needed. I’d wish I could have stayed longer. Thank you!

Czech RepublicOasis of peace, definitely recommend if you want an authentic atmosphere, beautiful and peaceful surroundings with no crowds. The owner and his family are wonderful warm people, we felt at home. You can enjoy a breathtaking view of the cove right from the room as well as a beautiful garden. We also enjoyed a dinner of fresh calamari and prawns made by the owner himself.

DenmarkI spent a wonderfull time in Surf Paradise in my privat bungalow, which was very nice and clean, a Fan, privat bathroom with hot water and a very comfortable King size bed, 180 cm wide, with the best madrass on my 6 week SL trip. Good mosquito net, (but I hardly saw any mosquitos!).There is always a breeze, keeping the mosquitos away.I loved sitting on my own little terrace right in front of the beach with a fantastic view over the bech and sea. It is a lovely authentic Sri Lankan fishermans village, with the boats lying on the beach and you can see all the fisherman comming back early in the morning. There is a lovely little terrace with Table and Chairs, in front of room, there you get your meals, with a beautiful look of the beach and the sea. A garden with a hammock, overlooking the sea. The family is so helpful, kind and loving. Always big smiles and a good sense of humour made it a fun and interesting stay. I stayed here first time 3 years ago for 2 weeks, and had such a good time, but because of the Corona Restrictions I have been waiting 3 years to be able to come back. It really felt so good to be back again and staying with this warmhearted Family. I had all my meals cooked by the family. Very good food, and cheaper than the restaurants around. The sea is very good for both surfing (further out), and safe swimming, even for small children. I alsoenjoyed snorkelling right of the beach , just 10 meters out, a lot of fish, and turles, this I saw every day. I would not hesitate in recommending this place to anyone.

GermanyNothing.
I spent wonderful days in Surf Paradise in my little bungalow, which was very nice and clean. There was always a nice breeze, so that I even didn't need the fan. Sitting on my own little terrace right at the beach with a fantastic view, enjoying delicious breakfast and the best (optional) dinner I had in Sri Lanka was heaven on earth. The family is most lovely and kind and I loved to spend time with them. I highly recommend this cute and nice place and will definitely come back one day.

GermanyIn this place we met the most hospitable family on our trip throughout Sri Lanka. The accomodation is simple but you have everything you need. The bed is really comfy. The location is phenomenal in the middle of the nature close to three beautiful beaches (Unakuruwa, Silent Beach & Secret Beach) which are all in walking distance. From the terrace you have an scenic view over the beach and you can check the surf spot for waves. It was just perfect.

NetherlandsAs mentioned, there could be some more space for your stuff, and a bedlight would be nice, but we feel that even if the price per night was 2 times what it is, we still wouldn't be allowed to complain about that.
We feel like we have no words for this place. Let me start by saying, if you doubt between staying 1 or 2, or 2 or 3, or 3 or 4 days, allways go for the most days because you will regret having to leave. This is one of the most special and wonderfull places we have ever been. First of all, the bay of Unakuruwa is everything your mind can imagine when you think of a tropical beach. Though the south coast of Sri Lanka had many beatifull beaches (we visited quite a few) this one is unique for it is the perfect combination of authentic Sri Lankan fishermans village (with the boats lying on the beach and you can see all the fisherman going early in the morning) but also some facilities being present which makes the stay comfortable as a visitor. There is a bar, and a lovely little restaurant (Moon Cabanna, where we stayed one night after we sadly couldn't stay here any longer, also really, really, wonderfull) where you can have the freshest fruit shakes and coconut water, als wel as tasty meals (both local as more Westernstyle). The beach itself is great for swimming, and there is hardly anyone there. I think that on a daily basis, about 10 tourists stay in a room in Unakuruwa, and about 20 visit with a tuktuk from somewhere else and thats it. So at any given point, there was a maximum of 10 people on the beach, excluding the fishermen. Off course, tourism is low because of corona right now, but even if you would double those numbers, you still essentially have the beach to yourself. Also good to know, in some parts of Sri Lanka, you can feel a little watched by the locals for walking around on the beach in a bikini, but that wasnt the case here. Now thats all about Unakuruwa beach, but this accomodation brings even more to the table. I know sometimes places say 'with a beach view' and you have to glare between some trees so see the sea 200 metres away, not here.
