Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Sri LankaThey should focus on the cleanliness!!! Bathrooms are not clean! Need to clean the rooms! Smelled like dust when we entered the room. Almost changed our hotel because of this.broken taps, hot water is not working properly. And the road to the hotel should be updated to the google maps properly!
Atmosphere, Vibe 👌 Its right next to the Forest Entrance. TikiriBanda is the man! He helped us in many ways to make our stay a comfortable one as well as the other staff members. Food is average can give 7/10, and bit expensive for locals. So its better to book it full or half board. Overall 7/10 for everything.

United KingdomWe booked a 2 room suite - they dont have one but offered us 2 rooms side by side which were very small! We settled on one room. On request they supplied a kettle and cups for us.
Excellent location with Sinharaja Rain Forest literally on the doorstep and ideal for trekking. Breakfast and dinners good. Our car and driver could not get to the location but staff from Sinharaja Forest Edge sent a courtesy 4 x 4 to collect us to take us approximately 2km off road to the property which was great.

United KingdomHad a lovely relaxing stay at Sinharaja Forest Edge. The location was perfect, right by the rainforest and it was easy to arrange a guided walk from the accommodation. The pool was right outside our room which was really nice. Really felt like we were staying in the midst of nature. The staff were also very friendly. Would recommend!

Sri LankaWe booked rooms with breakfasts and dinners included (HB), thinking about the buffet, but in the restaurant they gave us the menu card. So we ordered food from that menu card thinking that all food is included except of drinks. In reality it was not! They had a special offer like rice and curry for half board, but nobody tell us about that, and there was no any buffet also:( So it was a bit confusing and disappointing at the end. I think it was a mere misunderstanding. Anyway the food was tasty and the price, even with our extra payment for food, was still not so high. So if you ordered room with HB or FB you have to clarify about the food options that you have, and not order from the menu card.
This hotel is located very close to Sinharaja Forest and has its separate "private" entrance to Sinharaja. There is a cozy pond with beautiful lotus flowers and a marsh with singing frogs. The hotel is well-designed and the atmosphere is tranquil, there are no mosquitoes because a lot of frogs and dragon flies. It's a natural biome. Swimming pool surrounded by nature is cozy and nice. The staff is friendly, the food is tasty. Rooms are comfortable with a pond view. The forest biome at the edge of Sinharaja and its location makes this hotel unique. Amazing place to relax and enjoy the nature. We liked it much!

AustraliaWe arrived as per the location on booking.com but that is incorrect. We had to follow owner's direction and kind of got lost. You can't drive to the property in your own vehicle due to poor road conditions. We had to park our car in a parking lot, wait for a pickup from the hotel. We booked the family room right next to the pool, but the toilet door got stuck while my 10yr old inside. We had to climb through the toilet window from outside to rescue the little one. As they couldn't get the door fixed (or open), we were offered a cabana style recidence for the stay. No fridge, no microwave or any other aminities offered on our original booking. There is no microwave in the whole property, although we were fooled by booking.com. The cabana didn't have benches or seats inside. Washing machine is not accessible, we have to give the staff dirty clothes, they wash and return back. Not many options on the restaurant menu, so we ended up selecting the same meal. The cabana we stayed at was tilted few degrees to the left, you can feel it when you are inside. Had issues with running water as filters kept getting blocked due water is being pump from a nearby stream. Had to call for help in the middle of the shower. Ensure you are ready for square type plug points, as the new cabana only has those - not old round pin type. Our first family room had wall plugs that can accommodate various plug types. Wifi coverage was poor. Was charged US$5 per person for breakfast - way too expensive for what was offered.
Location - hotel is quite literally at the edge of the forest - less than 10m from the entrance gate to Sinharaja rain forest. Everyone is very polite and helpful. Good food at the restaurant. Nice swimming pool with water Jets - kept clean. Hotel organised our guided tour provided leech socks, packed lunch and water as part of the tour package. Staff washed and returned our dirty clothes. Nice general calm atmosphere all around with animals sounds throughout. Wifi was ok, poor coverage though. Overall the stay was comfortable, considering we were at the edge of the forest and away from everything. Can recommend, will stay again. The room was air-conditioned.

United KingdomThe drive up to the hotel in the back of a pickup was very uncomfortable and many people won't enjoy it. At night, we were the only people in the restaurant enjoying the sounds of the forest and the owner put on loud music, which was a shame and doesn't communicate great respect for nature. He wasn't particularly friendly either. The room wasn't very clean and smelt very damp. Of course it's in a rainforest but there are ways of alleviating smells. The hotel as a whole feels a bit under construction. Only the bare lightbulb was working. There was a powercut for several hours when we arrived, no fault of the hotel, but we weren't told about it and had to ask.
Amazing location right by the entrance to the rainforest, making an early morning tour very easy. Lovely to be surrounded by nature. Food in the restaurant was pretty good

Sri LankaThe shower water not very warm
Fabulous location right at the entrance to the rain forest the manager and her staff could not do enough to please you room and bathroom clean and food delicious there was a very welcoming and tranquil feel to the place immersed in nature. The whole place has suffered a bit due to covid and economic situation and could do with a bit of general maintenance which I am sure they will do once guests occupancy is back to normal. They also provided a superb guide called Sahara who took us on both our jungle trips very knowledgeable and considerate guide. This was provided at a good price. Would recommend and would stay there again it’s not luxury but the staff and lovely feel to the place more than makes up for it.

Sri LankaThe garden could have been improved a bit. Room selection was a little confusing since there were two pool view room categories. The owner provided detailed info when inquired over the phone though.
It was a very nice stay at this property which was bordering the Sinharaja Forest and it was simply the "Forest Edge". 🙂 Did not expect such professional service, which exceeded our expectations. The manager/owner was very helpful and offered free jeep transport by contacting us prior to our arrival. However, our van reached the hotel garden without much issue. The limited staff did a wonderful job taking care of everything, especially the young lady coordinated everything perfectly. Meals were delicious and served without delay. Good wifi was a luxury considering the remoteness of the location. They had two wifi networks, and both were available with good speed.

United KingdomThere was no hot water in our room, and the electricity cut out one night. The food was ok but very expensive - we were charged 3000 rupees per person for a buffet dinner which was by far our most expensive meal in Sri Lanka.
A nice hotel in the perfect location for visiting Sinharaja forest, the entrance to which is just outside the hotel gate. The hotel helped us organise a guided tour of the forest with two knowledgable guides. The garden is also perfect for bird watching and you can see snakes, water monitors and many butterflies from there.

IrelandThe location on google maps for the property is wrong, and there was no prior mention of this upon my arrival. So I ended up spending a very wet hour trying to find it before finally hearing back from the owner with directions.
For those wishing to explore the rainforest, the location couldn’t be better. Literally right next to one of the entrances. Gayani was super helpful and friendly, and the food was surprisingly excellent, even the scrambled eggs at breakfast were cooking absolutely perfectly, which very rarely the case. Also the bed was by far the most comfortable of the 8 places I’ve stayed so far in SL. Also, the guide they organised at resort was excellent and it was a amazing experience. Plus the pool is lovely
