The rain during our stay !!!!!! We stayed an extra night and would have stayed 5 if it hadn't of rained. Local town is 20 mins drive,away.....bring personal supplies, no shops around

Closeness to the main turtle Beach and Rekawa Turtle association, 5 mins walk. Beautifully kept gardens the rooms look onto. Amazingly designed and thought out rooms for such a small area....no one overlooks each other, so you have lots of privacy.. Huge comfy bed and massive walking shower in the bathroom. Many lights to create your own ambiance. Loved our patio with wooden chairs and a separate large table where breakfast is served. Where we watched plenty of birds each morning. Ceiling fan rotated well and air-conditioning was super cold and powerful, rarity on our travels in SL. Decent fridge too. Fantastic local restaurant run by a sweet family called Ruwani 2 mins,walk away. Lastly the owner Tatoo kept us happy with cold cheap beer and water.

The turtle activity had a fix price, we were happy to pay but it would have been nice to know it in advance in order to make a decision with clear information :)

Very new building, everything was nice and new and clean, the bathroom was amazing. It's in a nice garden where you get to see monkeys just from your balcony, but also 5 min walking to the beach. Walking around the area is really pleasant. The host is very nice and helpful, he gave us a free upgrade cause the place was empty and we were able to see turtle nesting thanks to him. 100% recommended

The owner and everyone at shine wave are very friendly and caring. The area around the hotel is very quiet and the beach is beautiful. We also saw turtles. There are very good restaurants around as well. If you like it quiet, you will love shine wave. Also the rooms are very new and comfortable. Breakfast was good, too. Shine wave was one of the best placed we stayed at during our travel through Sri Lanka.

The fairly new hotel was very clean and comfortable. Easy to get to the beach area and the lagoon. The owner was so friendly and contacted us one evening to go and see a green turtle laying her eggs. Nearby restaurants were good for food in the evenings. The breakfast here was exceptional.

Amazing homestay to stay just next to turtle sanctuary. The rooms are very big and clean. The breakfast is very rich and diverse and is served on the private balcony. They also organized a fairly priced Tuktuk for us and made sure we could get some lunch (as all the restaurants were closed). Can highly recommend.

Actually 10 points. Beautifully landscaped and well-maintained complex with 5 beautiful rooms, each with a fully furnished balcony. Everything seems new. High-quality furnishings, electrics and WiFi at European standards. Restaurant under construction, pool in planning. The owner values ​​quality. [4.3., 06:18] Christof Wolf: Cleanliness actually 12 points. Our winner after 11 hotels in Sri Lanka. Only 100 m to the Turtle Information Center (nightly tours in season) and to the beautiful beach with limited swimming opportunities. There are other simple, hidden restaurants there. Our favorite: Sumudu Seafood Restaurant with excellent cuisine conjured up from a simple hut. Tuktuk service for the journey home. Turn left on the beach, 25 minutes walk to the large rocks. I rate this property 11/10 as I couldn't have imagined better place to stay during our holiday in Sri Lanka. The place is absolutely amazing. The room is brand new, spotless clean and really spacious, so is the bathroom, both well equipped with good taste. This property is located between laguna on one side and the ocean on the other, sorrounded by huge exotic garden filled with lush greenery and various kinds of birds chirping while you can enjoy breakfast on the terrace. The host is extremely welcoming and attentive, he offers you help before you even ask. He helped us organize transfers between cities and to/from local attractions at local prices, as well as turtle watching. The property is three minutes away from Rekawa beach, where you can admire unspoiled nature with epic sunsets. If you are lucky enough you may even see baby turtles. This place gives you unique feeling that you have whole beach to yourself. I definetely recommend this place to anyone who values peace, silence and luxury. Top notch spot. Several restaurants are available nearby. We will be back for sure!

Very nice guesthouse in a beautiful area with a tropical garden very close to the turtle beach. The manager and his stuff was extremely kind and helpful and they informed us when turtles were on the beach in the evening or night. The turtle station is just a few meters away and the beach 150 meters from the guesthouse. The room and bathroom is very large and very nice. Bathroom has a big and modern shower and the whole environment is clean and very well maintained. They serve very good breakfast on the terrace of the guest room with fruits, eggs, toast, tee or coffee and some other local food. The area is very calm and excellent for relaxing. The beach is beautiful and very calm with just very few people. Difficult for swimming because of the wind and the high waves. Perfect place to calm down and to relax.

Maybe it would be nice to have cleaning service after our first night as the room's floor was covered with sand after going to see the turtles.

Nice location near the beach and close to see the turtles in the night (sadly a fee must be paid to access the beach at night as some association decided that they have the monopoly of a natural place) . Chathu is a great host, he is always ready to fulfill any request. The room is comfortable and spacious. Good breakfast.

Huge room and bathroom. Great power shower, amazing breakfast delivered to table on the terrace outside room in the morning 😍 beautiful gardens with birds & chipmunks. Owner alerted us by WhatsApp message when turtles were on the beach at night so we could go and see them 😍 short walk to one of the most beautiful, quiet beaches I've ever seen. Lots of nice restaurants and cafes nearby. Great, fast communication from owners.

Basically nothing, my only recommendation would be it would be great if there was some shampoo in the bathroom :) but didn’t affect my stay!

This hotel is amazing. It’s a small hotel with only a few rooms, but the rooms are spacious, clean and have the most comfortable beds! The best thing about this hotel is the owner, Chathu. He is incredibly kind and welcoming, and goes above and beyond to ensure the comfort of his guests. He helped us organise a massage at a local spa (as well as driving us in his tuk tuk for no extra charge), gave us restaurant recommendations and informed us when turtles came on to the beach. Thank you Chathu for your kindness and hospitality, we will be back!

Shine Wave Turtle Beach consisted of four large guest rooms, each with a terrace or balcony looking out on a secluded garden full of coconut trees. Construction of another building on site was nearing completion; it will be a bar and restaurant, I think. Rekawa Beach is only a 200-metre walk away, though it can be accessed from other directions too. There are several restaurants only a short walk or tuk tuk drive from Shine Wave. Two of the best were within touching distance. Of the five places we stayed in Sri Lanka, our room at Shine Wave was the largest and most comfortable. It included a massive bed, a fridge, air conditioning, an effective ceiling fan and a huge, attractive bathroom with a terrific HOT power shower and plenty of space for our toiletries. On our balcony, there were two comfortable chairs and a coffee table. Also, there was a small dining table and chairs where Chattu, our very accommodating guesthouse owner, served us a delicious and varied breakfast each morning. We loved having a private breakfast while watching peacocks and other birds flit about the garden. After travelling around the country and going on tours, this accommodation was the perfect way to finish our holiday on a relaxing note.

The room was really nice, clean and big. It was very peaceful and we found it easy to relax here. Breakfast was varied and tasty. The owner was so friendly and very responsive to messages and helped us get washing done and sorting a tuktuk for us. Turtle Watch is a few minutes away and the owner of the property was really helpful sending us updates if any turtles had come that night so we were able to watch a turtle laying her eggs - incredible experience which we feel really lucky to have seen!! The beach nearby is very natural and untouched due to it being a protective area - it’s so beautiful and is only a few minutes walk from the property - can be difficult to find shade on this beach during the day however you can walk 10-15 minutes to the natural rock pools and there is a restaurant there with sunbeds and umbrellas so you can relax and swim and get some shade. All around we had an amazing time and would come back again!!

Everything was perfect! My husband hat a little accident with his toe and chattu was so kind and helped so much! Thank you for that! Rooms are loveley and bed was so comfy. You have to walk like 2 minutes to the stunning beach (only one beach bar after a 10 minutes walk to the left)
