Shan is the best hotel owner in Sri Lanka. He treated me not like a client but like a brother. Very friendly and super helpful! I recommend Shan Star to everyone who wants to enjoy beautiful Weligama with a very nice room and incredibly friendly staff. Everything was super clean und the king size bed was the best I was sleeping in for a long time. Keep up the good work my friend and I hope to see you again soon!

Room was clean and spacious with nice balcony. Swimming pool in the garden was a nice little bonus as well. Shan was friendly and very helpful. We would absolutely stay here again if we go to sri lanka again!

nothing, I wish I could have stayed longer

i appreciated the peaceful location, even though it’s close to the main road and next to the train tracks, it’s much more quiet than I expected! the room was spacious, very clean, comfortable bed and a lovely terrace looking over the garden. The staff is ready to help you with anything and grants all the privacy you need. highly recommend!

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Shan Star! Shan couldn't have been more helpful, kind and accommodating. He went the extra mile to make sure we were happy, and just generally offered an outstanding service. This accommodation is unbeatable on price, and is the best value for money hotel we stayed in while visiting Sri Lanka. The breakfast was also great, with delicious fruit picked from the garden itself! Shan organised a great snorkelling excursion for us, which was fantastic too. I couldn't recommend this place enough!

Everything, the warmth and friendliness of everyone at the lovely little hotel. Amazing, clean rooms, beautiful massive beds and great bathroom. Fully functional shared kitchen, and the pool is a beauty. It's an absolute bargain and close to a couple of beautiful little beaches (jungle & Ketature) Located 2 mins from the train station & bus stop. Everything is easy. I loved everything here. Great stuff and location. Huge room with the area for relax in the common area. Clean and close to restaurants. There is a bus stop for buses that can take you right to Kataragama or Colombo right on front od this place

Everything perfect!!! The room was so nice, clean and AC new and quiet. The room was on the 3rd floor and there is also dining room, living room and small kitchen. That was beautuful view to the pool and garden. Next the house there is train track so for someone could be noisy but we liked it. The owner and his crew realy look after this place. Well done guys!! We highhy recommend!!

the location si far away from the welligama and also from restaurants. the big problem were trains, there is railway next to the house. It is very noisy. not go with baby here

Shan Star was the best hotel during our journey through Sri Lanka. We stayed 6 nights (instead of 4 nights planned), because we felt like home. The garden and the pool are so nice and it is really quiet. The place is in Kumbalgama - so between Weligama and Midigama, with a short Tuk Tuk ride to a lot of restaurants and beaches. A short walk away is a cute small beach. The hosts were incredible - they made our laundry, played a lot with our little son and surprised us with sweets because of Singal New year. We can highly recommend Shan Star for families and anyone who looks for a beautiful place with refreshing pool and really friendly people. Thank you so much for everything!!

First of all, I thank you for your hospitality. Me and my wife came for our honeymoon tour. So I told my need to Shan Star. They had arranged our room beautifully. There is a beautiful swimming pool. A quiet environment. The sea is near. Even though the railway line was nearby, there was no disturbance, no noise. I recommend Shan Star. A very reasonable service is provided for the money paid. We look forward to visiting again.

The mobile operator Mobitel issues a speed of 90 megabits here. This is the highest speed in Sri Lanka that I have seen) Highly recommend! The hotel also has its own generator!

If you’re a light sleeper, just be aware that the train tracks are adjacent to the home, so it can be quite loud when they start running in the morning.

The room was clean, comfortable, and extremely spacious! The owner and staff were welcoming, and around to answer any questions we had. We paid 700 LKR for laundry service and everything was clean. The pool was definitely a plus! It’s also only a short walk to the beach. It cost ~300 LKR to take a tuk tuk into town. Wifi was good.

We’ve stayed at Shan’s place 5 weeks (Dec 2021 - Jan 2022), I would rate this place above 5 stars. Shan and his family do their best to keep place clean, good-looking, equipped and make you feel comfortable. They arranged additional table for room on request. Pool is always clean and nice to hang around. Room is nice, AC, hot water, nice balcony on 2nd and 3rd floor. Good grocery markets in walking distance. Location is perfect for surfers, lots of spots in close quarters (fisherman, jungle, plantation, coconut, RAMS, midigama left/right). There is grill on site. All in all this place is fancy gem and definitely value for money!

In general, there are quite good conditions here. There is a well maintained pool. There is a fan in the room. Bed and pillows are comfortable. Green courtyard, beautifully decorated with various figures and plants. There is a shared kitchen, which has all the necessary appliances and kitchen utensils. Ants run through the kitchen, but this is quite normal for this country. Just a little unusual compared to the conditions at home. No animals were seen in the rooms. There are mosquitoes, but you can protect yourself from them with a spray and a canopy over the bed. The owner is welcoming and friendly. Overall we are happy with our stay at this place. Ideal value for money.
