Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The wild peacocks, the kingfishers, tortoises below your cabin. The fire flies at night were amazing, we have never experienced anything like it before . This is a little piece of rainforest heaven, that everyone in their lifetime should experience. The tour with sammie was amazing,. I am so glad we only booked with him after watching other groups. We held cute wild snakes, seen frog mouthed owls, scorpions, butterflies the size of birds, there is too much to list. His wife cooked the best food we have ever tasted and both were lovely hosts . Nothing was too much trouble . They have definitely made our stay in Sri Lanka the best . There was perfect communication and it was very easy to get to. A stones throw away from the entrance of the rainforest entrance. We would definitely return but for longer than two days next time, Thank you x

IcelandThe accommodation is located near Sinharaja Forest Reserve in a beautiful valley with farms, fields and a lot of animals. We could see peacocks, fireflies and many bird species just outside on our patio. You get a lot of privacy in your villa and a great view over the valley. The villa was perfectly clean and the bed was also very comfortable. The hosts take excellent care of you while you are there. The meals we got were perfect - real local Sri Lankan food. We also did a short hike with the owner into the forest reserve which was a fantastic experience and we saw a lot of wild animals and took a swim in the river next to a waterfall.

The host and host wife were super, super nice and made us feel at home. The room was very quite and fulfilled all our needs. The dinner and breakfast made by Umesha were among the best during our journey through Sri Lanka. As I was sick in the morning, Saman gave us a tour through the rainforest in the evening, which was spectacular. We will come back for sure and stay with Saman and Umesha again!

NepalWhat a fantastic place! The location is amazing, right next to the rainforest and overlooking beautiful rice paddies. The place is run by a lovely friendly family who went over and above to accommodate us and ensure we had a brilliant stay. The guided tour through the rainforest was fantastic, the guide is very knowledgeable and passionate about the rainforest and its wildlife. The food was delicious and they accommodated us being veggie. They helped us sort a taxi to our next place. Can't fault the place, would definitely return if we come back to Sri Lanka!

United KingdomOther people have commented on the creaky bed. It does creek. Can't say it spoiled our stay but wonder if a big board fixed across the slats might reduce it ?
We loved our 3 night stay at Rainforest Nest. It is a peaceful location with great views across paddy fields towards the nearby rainforest. Having seen the bigger, brasher lodges by the park gate, we are really pleased we chose this place. The rooms have been designed with some thought and the bathroom was among the best appointed and cleanest of any we stayed in ( including expensive hotels!). Saman and Usheisa have created a lovely family business giving guests a great welcome and memorable stay. Saman's guided walk in Sinhiraja was a really high standard. He did not just reel off facts but invited our comments on why we thought plants were the way they were. We saw a great range of creatures and flora. Giant tree squirrels, birds, reptiles and insects. Saman worked hard to find the Frogmouth bird that my husband really wanted to photograph. On the morning we were leaving he sent an "express" tuk tuk to bring us to where he was guiding another couple as he had found not one but 3. He made one bird photographer very happy !

GermanyRainforest Nest is an excellent choice if you plan to visit Sinharaja rainforest. The two cabins are rather new, well maintained and spotless clean. We especially enjoyed the nice view over the rice paddies from our balcony. . The Nest ist in walking distance to one of the rainforests entry points and Saman, the owner, is not just a very friendly and caring man but also an official guide. We took a 6 hour excursion into the rainforest with him that was educational as well as entertaining. He showed us many rare animals that we would have missed without him and had a swim at one of the forests waterfalls. Samans cheerful wife prepared us fresh (and plenty of) food over the day, so we never left hungry. . We can fully recommend Rainforest Nest and like to thank the host family for their kindness.

GermanyThis is a paradise spot!!! The owner's family has thought about everything. The stunning view, the abundant bird life, the short distance to the park's entrance, but also convenient details indoors, like the switch for the fan beside the bed, make the stay a wonderful experience. We enjoyed our stay fully and are especially thankful for the attention of the owners.

RomaniaBest place we have stayed in Sri Lanka in terms of overall experience (great hosts & fairytale location). Food provided was very delicious, with great variety. The Sinharaja forest tour was also a very good experience, our guide (the owner of the Nest) being very knowleadgeble of what is going on in the forest (he spotted a lot of birds/animals and told us a lot about their behavior). All in all we just recommend this place by our hearts. A big thank you for the hosts!

SpainNo complaints.
I cannot recommend this place enough. The huts are well made, clean, and have the most stunning view over the rice paddy. We took a 5 hour guided walk in the rainforest, and Saman was an exceptional guide who was really knowledgeable, cares for the wildlife, and spotted the most amazing creatures. We were lucky enough to see a frogmouth, monkeys, various lizards, millipedes, dragonflies, and lots of other birds I cannot remember the names of! The food was delicious and abundant (they lovingly shared us video recipes), and it was the perfect place to be immersed in nature and chill for a couple of days. Saman even lent us his binoculars and bird identification book so we could birdwatch from our terrace. We saw so many kingfishers, bee eaters, peacocks and thrushes, as well as glow worms at night. Saman also kindly picked us up from Deniyaya in Tuk Tuk, then also drove us to Udawawale after we left Rainforest n'est, for a decent price, and stopped to show us beautiful views and more wildlife. If you go to Sinharaja, do not hesitate to book here!

Oh I loved this stay!!!!! Unfortunatelly I felt a bit sick meanwhile being in the property..but I just can't reccomend enough. Why? 1. the people. The property is run by a small family. They just conquisted my heart. So simple, easy, openhearded. 2. such a beautiful view!! 3. Such a beautiful nature around + close to the entrance to the park. Saman (the owner) is also the guide of the park (you can't enter alone inside the park if I am not mistaken) ...so that is also a plus. Hope to come back one day!
