The beach was with a dark water (I know it is not a hotel fault) with died fishes and a bit smell. The sofabed is not confortable.

Just as a remark, the last 1.4km to get there are extremely muddy during the rain period, scooter and bike may not be a good choice especially in case you want to stay clean ;). Here and there the impact of the harsh weather is not to oversee.

The dining area is a little bland . There are really no starters on offer at dinner so the whole dining experience is a bit short…dine and leave as there is no lounge area . Personally I would create a lounge on the lawn with comfortable chairs for pre or after dinner drinks The hotel should advise that unless u are confident with strong breakers and back wash it’s not easy to enter the sea . We saw very few people swim on the long long beach for this reason . The hotel should also advise on booking.com that they charge 3 % for credit card payment . This was the only retailer we encountered in 28 days in Sri Lanka that made this charge. Finally the star of the staff here is Hansana….he is a smiling welcoming head of staff …the other staff are polite but self effacing . When Hansana has days off the hotel lacks personality , which is a shame as so many of the hotels we stayed in 28 days had much more personal staff presence’ Perhaps remove some of the lower palm leaves to improve the sea view from the restaurant and pool. These are re minor comments from a travel professional with over 40 years experience of visiting hotels.

A lovely 6 bedroom property . Scrupulously clean , a good team of staff , who are polite and efficient . The location is very nice on miles of quiet beach . The pool is lovely , the sun loungers etc for relaxing are great and the food is good . It’s a very nice place to chill and we would stay again . We booked three nights and stayed 5 ! Hansana is brilliant . All staff very nice but quiet . The Divine spa down the road offered excellent massage and the adjacent restaurant , Priyamoon, served fantastic fish albeit take a book …the kitchen prepares everything fresh so waiting time is lengthy

We booked a upstairs balcony room and confirmed by private message and were told that is what we would get. On arrival we found our balcony room was occupied and allocated a downstairs room! We complained and presented our booking confirmation. This resulted in the manager getting us the balcony room for 3 of our 4 nights. The manager was helpful but really needs to smile more and take an interest in the clients. The restaurant in the evening could be more atmospheric.

We booked Lanka Bungalows late on as we had concerns about the nearby resort we originally booked. Of the seven places we stayed in Sri Lanka, Lanka Bungalows was our favourite. Wonderful location beside a deserted beach and own pool. Staff were friendly and excellent. Lovely breakfast and decent dinner. Good cocktails. Our balcony room was great, spacious, private with limited views of the Indian Ocean. Lovely bathroom. Loved hearing the Indian Ocean breakers in the distance, Manager arranged a tuk tuk trip to local temple and Tangalle which was great fun. We also had a massage at nearby Divine Spa. We loved early morning walks along the deserted beach and had lunch at nearby resorts for a change of restaurants.

The waves and wind have been pretty strong, not good if there is a family with smaller kids. Not many other bars or restaurants around. Nothing to do in the later evening.

Its not really a downside just a comment - the road outside is very bumpy so just be aware - our taxi driver who dropped us off was not impressed but I think its one of the reasons this area is so lovely and uncommercialised,

Beautiful, secluded beach bungalows, right on the the most beautiful beach but also with an amazing pool, lovely restaurant, great rooms and super friendly, attentive staff. Fabulous huge breakfast was included in our stay and other food was well priced and tasty. We had a lovely bungalow right by the pool which was really comfortable and well looked after with a nice terrace with table and chairs plus a big sunlounger for two. The pool was lovely and very clean and the hotel also had sunloungers on the beach underneath the palms. The beach was deserted and huge with amazing sunsets and sunrises. Totally recommend for a quiet, relaxing stay where you can walk along to beach to fantastic seafood restaurants or just laze by the pool.

Wow - where do I start? We spent 8 nights to relax after backpacking in the country. It was amazing from the first moment until the very end. The staff is great and happy to chat, the room and terrace is spacious, luxury, clean and very comfortable. There are sunbeds at the beach under the palmtrees and at the pool. The food at the restaurant is great and very affordable, the menu is quite big with western and local cuisine, the breakfast menu is big too. Great local coffee from the french press and white wine from Italy and Chile. So nice! We fed the beach dogs and set up a water bowl at the beach for them. Please do the same when you are there :) The beach is amazing too. Go see yourself :)

Make sure you have small denominations of cash - we didn’t and couldn’t find anywhere to get smaller amounts for eg tips, tuk tuks etc. Was hard to find other places to eat but this of course is not the fault of Lanka Beach Bungalows and their food is so good it's not worth going anywhere else!

Absolute gem of a place. Smaller than we expected but beautifully formed! If you are looking for somewhere very quiet to chill out this is your place. Rooms are large, with double beds and mosquito nets, wonderful A/C and huge showers with fluffy towels and beach towels to use. The reception area is also the dining room and sitting area, very inviting and open to the warm breezes. There are a couple of bungalows but also a couple of two storey buildings - between us and our 2 children we had 2 first floor rooms. The food was AMAZING: 6 different options for the inclusive breakfast including 2 types of Sri Lankan breakfasts (one fish, one veg), eggs, French toast, oatmeal or banana pancakes (my personal favourite!), with a large and varied menu for lunch/dinner including curries, fresh fish, rice dishes, noodles, toasties etc. Our favourites were the curries, the dal and the banana splits for pudding! The staff are wonderful, especially Hansana, who is essentially the host and manager, who organised a tuk tuk for us to get to Rekawa to see the turtles (unfortunately we did not see them that night as the waves were too close to the beach - they even came up to the garden of the hotel on that day - and the chef. The pool is wonderful and we spent a lot of time in it and lying next to it. The sea was way too rough at the time of year for us to venture in, which we would have loved to do, but apparently we were there at the worst time for swimming and the sea is usually much calmer.

Our stay was absolutely perfect! Great hosts that were very helpful, a clean and spacious room and a great pool! The room was even better than the photo’s. The staff helped us rent a scooter so we had more flexibility. Tangalle is only 15 minutes away!
