Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe place lacks maintenance. Mosquito nets must be replaced. Shower head was dripping water. It’s in nature, no luxury can be expected but small things should be fixed. Also the toilet paper was wrapped in plastic. No go for an eco lodge. The staff need a manager who would oversee all orders and give commands. They tend to mix up the order for breakfast, so waiting time can be long. Again with simple management actions, all can be fixed. If you’re used to laid-back service and can ignore minor things, you can enjoy your stay here.
The tree houses are awesome. The bathroom is pretty basic and lacks proper maintenance (though clean) but the beds are huge and comfortable. Some units are closer to the bar area (noise). Some more secluded at the back. The bed is a bit too big for the room size. So you may not be able to wide open your bags. It’s an experience for sure, and we enjoyed our two nights here.

MaltaThe bathroom was dirty, dont think it was cleaned before us. Breakfast was mediocre. The rooms were very basic. Having no windows any noise or animal outside kept us awake. Very little lighting in the rooms and getting to the rooms. No torches were provided. Luckily we had our own.
Location wise it was good & the kids liked the idea of sleeping in a treehouse. We liked the food at the restaurant though more of a vibe at the restaurants in the centre.

United KingdomIt was a really nice and new experience sleeping in a tree house. We had a lot of fun! Obviously, you have to deal with monkeys and some insects. The staff was really nice and helpful, perfect if you are an easy going person (as you should be, if you want to sleep on a tree)

United Arab EmiratesNo WiFi in rooms, restaurant played music loud one night which ruins the experience of being immersed in nature. Don't expect good or any service, the staff barely speak English and seem to be terrified of speaking to guests so very difficult to just get a coffee or get your order taken.
An amazing experience overall, although the monkeys broke in while we were in town and stole all our food and drinks. Bed is very comfortable, this is definitely a try it once experience!

Clean, very friendly and helpful staff, loved being in the tree tops and having a drink on the balcony as the sun set. Would stay again

IndiaThe kids loved these cabins in the forest, even though you're not far from other houses, you can't see them, you're in the peace and quiet. The beds are very comfortable. The rest is a bit basic: they're still cabins.

GermanyOverall, even for a tree house, the room could have been cleaner.
Sleeping in something like a tree house was really cool. We could see lots of animals running around in the trees, which was really nice! The social area (Bar/Restaurant) was also quite cool and the breakfast was really good. You could tell, the staff really cared, but also that they were not so experienced which was okay. They helped us with booking a scooter and told us some nice places to go.

SingaporeDo note that because you’re living in the middle of a jungle, bugs are inevitable.
If you’ve always dreamt about living in a quaint little treehouse that’s in the middle of a jungle, this is it!! It was the most unique place I’ve stayed in so far, and most importantly, the bed was comfy! The accommodation was great, however I’d say that the staff really made the stay for me. Special mention to the sweetest and most genuine people/friends I made throughout the stay: Diwakara, Isuru, Deshan and Shehan. They provided top-notch assistance that includes providing transport services, navigating around Sigiriya, searching the best places to visit and just radiating good vibes wherever they are at. Breakfast included was simple and yummy! Throughout my 9-day travel in Sri Lanka, I had the best time here 🥹 I left Sri Lanka with awesome memories and with the kindest local friends like them!! Highly highly recommend 11/10 ❤️

New ZealandThis stay was honestly disappointing. The room was extremely cramped and it was difficult to move around each other or to get dressed. The mattress was quite dirty and the sheets had large burn holes in them. It was quite difficult to sleep as the common area played music late into the night - this completely ruined the “in nature” feeling and as the treehouse had open walls there was no way to block out the noise (not ideal when you’re up at sunrise to climb Sigiriya). A number of the bathroom fittings were broken. The hot water shower was only a trickle and had a strong sewerage odor. We had no running water for most of the night. When we checked out we were asked to pay more than our booking amount as they were using an inflated exchange rate compared to everywhere else in town. This added insult to injury given it was already very over priced considering the condition of the rooms.
The outdoor areas were quite nice. The restaurant, grounds, and balcony are pleasant places to sit and the jungle surrounds mean it’s about 5 degrees cooler.

NetherlandsPlease be aware that the treehouses are very basic and on the edge of the jungle. This means that you have to deal with all sorts of animals: toilet-frogs, bats, monkeys etc. While the grounds are well-kept, the treehouse interiors could do with some work: the beds are a bit hard, the mosquito-nets have many holes (as do the bedlinnen) the shower is constantly dripping resulting in a continuously wet, moldy and slippery bathroom. To be fair, we didn't report the above to the staff. But this was also because most of the time they are not there with an empty reception. The present staff are very friendly and appear to want to do everything to help you, but they seem to be put there by their manager who is absent most of the day. Many questions are answered by a request to wait for somebody who might be returning to the lodge in 15 minutes (in reality 45-60 minutes).
The ecolodge is at a great location away from the busy street and the touristy center of Sigiriya. The grounds are well-kept and the treehouses seem of good construction.
