Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Czech RepublicThe wifi was weak. There was a bit of mold in our room (around the AC). The food was not that great.
The hotel really is in the middle of the paradise. There are a lot of birds to watch and it is the perfect place to relax. The staff was super nice. The pool was super clean.

NetherlandsThe rooms are beautiful and the family who runs it will do anything to make you feel at home. The swimmingpool has a beautiful view and they have a small restaurant where they will make you a lovely dinner. The area is quiet, so this is a nice place to relax. There are some beautiful beaches, but you need a tuktuk to get there.

Our stay at Eagle's Nest Cabanas in Tangalle from June 9th to June 12th, 2024, was nothing short of spectacular. This family-run gem, with only six rooms, offered us a truly personal and heartwarming experience. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by some of the friendliest and most caring people we’ve met in Sri Lanka. Their genuine hospitality made our stay exceptional. The breakfast options were delightful, catering to diverse tastes with three choices: a hearty English breakfast, a flavorful Sri Lankan breakfast, and the delicious Coconut Roti with various accompaniments. Each morning was a culinary treat, setting a perfect start to our day. Our room was incredibly spacious and comfortable, standing out from many other accommodations we've experienced in Sri Lanka and Asia. It was well-equipped with ample storage – a large bookcase, two wall units, a shelf, and conveniently placed plug sockets on either side of the massive bed. This thoughtful setup made it easy to keep our belongings organized and accessible. The bathroom was excellent, with a well-functioning shower that offered both hot and normal water options. After a day of exploring, it was refreshing to have such a reliable and relaxing shower. The pool area was a serene haven. Though the water was quite warm, it was lovely to sit by and unwind. The entire property, from the rooms to the pool to the beautifully tended gardens, was spotlessly clean and meticulously maintained. Eagle's Nest Cabanas also offered a small but diverse menu, and we were pleased to learn that the owner was more than willing to custom-make dishes to suit our preferences. This flexibility and willingness to accommodate our tastes added a personal touch that we greatly appreciated. Our stay was incredibly relaxing, and we left feeling rejuvenated and well-cared-for. Eagle's Nest Cabanas is a true sanctuary in Tangalle, and we can't wait to return.

BelgiumWe had a lovely stay at Eagles nest cabanas. Our room had a really nice view over the swimming pool and lake. It is so peaceful and quiet, watching the birds and peacocks. Furthermore, the staff is extremely friendly and arranged a scooter and taxi for us. We extended 2 more nights because we loved it so much here.

SlovakiaThe path to the beach is not very nice. The bed in our room was a bit squeaky, but nothing disrupting. We had upstairs room and in the night and early morning there were birds landing on the roof and making banging noise.
Compared to other accommodations in Sri Lanka this one was definitely the best one. The owner is very helpful. We had our few shares of issues and she was able to solve them all. Breakfast was tasty and there were multiple options.

RomaniaWifi only worked in the restaurant area, not in the room.
The accommodation is on the shore of the lake, a delight if you like birds. The room is equipped with everything you need, except for a refrigerator, but we knew that in advance, which did not bother us. You can relax in the guesthouse in front of the room where you have a terrace, in the restaurant or at the pool - I chose the guesthouse to laze by the pool for a few days, an excellent choice. I had dinner there, the food is super tasty, I recommend it and I would come back anytime.

We will keep stay in this hotel in our memories forever! Very lovely staff is a great addition to delicious food they make in affordable prices, views of wild animals, well-kept garden area, point of birds observation in their natural habitat and nice chamber swimming pool. Close to Rekawa beach and turtle reserve. Birds are fed by the owners, rooms are clean. Our favourite stay in Sri Lanka!

United KingdomEagle's Nest was a superb choice! We had a lovely warm welcome from Nimmi and all the team were really friendly. Our cabana was spacious, with it's own balcony. Great a/c and good shower. We didn't quite get a clear view of the pool or lake (if you're desperate for this maybe make sure you ask/book one of the first units in the row or one on the upper floor) but we were more than happy and loved spending time at the pool and restaurant with the views over the lagoon. Plenty of wildlife in the beautiful garden and in the water. Just a short stroll from amazing beaches. We ate at the hotel and also really enjoyed Sha Sha seafood restaurant right on the beach just a short walk away. This was the perfect stay, so relaxing, with lovely people, and great facilities. Thank you!

NetherlandsNot much actually. Breakfast was nice but we stayed for 6 nights and there wasnt really any variety in the food.
The family is so kind! We traveled with a 1 year old and provide also food for him. Highly recommended for people who are looking for a place to relax. The garden is beautiful with peacocks and other birds and last but not least a swimming pool. There are some restaurants options in walking distance. However you need a Tuktuk to go to Tangelle centre. The accommodation has its own. The beach is nearby. This is a very beautiful tranquil beach. One of the best in Tangalle. I recommend taking a stroll along the beach and passing some restaurants where you can get yourself a meal or drink.

DenmarkThe wait for the food (breakfast or other meals) is really long, even when ordered in advance. There are no electric kettles in the rooms or even in the kitchen, so you have to ask the staff to boil hot water for coffee or tea which then takes AGES.
Spacious rooms, beautiful gardens and a nice pool. Lots of wildlife around. There is a restaurant onsite that reserves good food. Friendly and helpful staff. 20 minute walk to the beach (there is a shortcut but it was flooded when we were there).

The whole set up was amazing, the room was very comfortable for our family of four and the pool was incredible. Great location for the beach. Nimmi and her family were very welcoming, she helped organise a tour to Bundala (which was amazing) and her brother drove in his tuk tuk. The rottis at breakfast were also delicious! Thank you!
