Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsSuper cute homestay. We loved the cooking course with Kumari, such good and pure food. The place is made with care. In one of our rooms the sheets smelled a bit moldy ( it was all washed but due to an absence of sun for three days , it smelled damp) and right away they changed it all. We went with Ara, her son to Hortains Plains, best and most comfortable drive we’ve experienced. It was a wonderful, warm stay. Thank you!

SpainWe loved our stay here! Ara and his mum are great hosts! She cooked the best rice and curry for dinner and traditional breakfast. Ara took us on route around the area to visit tea plantations and factory and a few waterfalls from the best view points. 100% recommended

AustraliaCannot think of anything!
Everything was great! Do the cooking class with Ara's mum! It is so worth it and the meal (3 curries, chicken and a dessert) was one of our favourites from the entire trip! Breakfast was fantastic. The room was very comfortable and there are blankets as it is colder in Nuwara Eliya so this was appreciated very much. The shower has hot water. We only stayed 1 night. The location was not problem for us as we did not want to be in the centre of town. A 40min walk to Lover's Leap Waterfall. Would highly recommend this homestay and authentic experience.

SwitzerlandThe bathroom had a strong musty smell, but unfortunately it is very typical here....
The room was wonderful, really comfortable and you feel surrounded by so much warmth. The hostess is really nice, I took a cooking class (for me vegan!) with her and loved every moment of it! If I ever come back, I would definitely go here again!

AustraliaThe only possible con was that a generator next door made a bit of noise in the night if you're a light sleeper.
We only stayed one night, but it was such a nice time. Araa and his mum treated us like family, taking us around in their and cooking us one of the most delicious dinners we had in Sri Lanka. We felt well looked after :) The room was clean and comfortable.

SpainIt was a bit far from the center to walk, and not really a pleasant one, so you kinda need transport or a tuktuk if you don't want to spend 45 minutes breathing the black smoke busses leave behind
The administrators where very nice and acomodating. We had dinner and breakfast here and the local food they prepared was super tasty, and there was a lot of it.

ArgentinaThe location is not very central, the shower is at the entrance of the bathroom and there is no curtain or shower window so the floor of the bathroom is wet all the time.
The host was very friendly and helpful. He picked us up from the railway station for a good price. And also he offered us a tour around tea plantations, tea factory and waterfalls for about 4 hours and we paid 4000 rupees each one. The breakfast and the dinner was very good

Loved everything!!! The cabin was awesome - cozy (yet spacious!) and really nicely decorated. Hosts were so kind and accommodating. We booked the day tour to waterfall + tea plantations, which was really enjoyable. And we had a delicious supper (as well as our breakfasts) cooked by host’s mother! If you stay here, I recommend the hike from lovers leap to Pedro tea estate through tea plantations (easy to access trail from the homestay).

MaltaLeaving! 🙂
Everything! The room was nice, clean and spacious with internet working very well. Araa and his mother are two amazing people. Her breakfast and dinner was abundant and tasted so good. She wanted to keep feeding me as if I was part of her family ! She is also a great seamstress. I could see she had a variety of beautiful bags on display which at no time she told me that they are on sale. So I did ask and she told me that it was her work. I bought 4 and she gave me a decent price too! Her work is dainty and bags finished perfectly. Thank you so much for a lovely stay! ❤️

Moreover, we booked a day trip with him and another couple that were staying for the same period to learn more about tea plantations, the area and Sri Lankan culture. 10/10 and def recommended!

SlovakiaThe owner and his mother were the sweetest hosts we met during our 2 week journey across Sri Lanka. He picked up us from the bus station and also took us to the train station in the end of our stay and bought the train ticket for us from his own money, because we didn’t had a change. He speaks english pretty well and was also our guide and showed us tea plantations, factories and nice spots to take a picture for a reasonable pricey Room was spacious, clean and cosy. Bed was comfy with the comforter. There is also a table and small patio to enjoy tea. Wifi was working well. Nuwara Eliya is more colder than other cities in Sri Lanka which was pleasant change for us. There weren’t any mosquitos. The homemade food was the best we had in Sri Lanka and the portions were huge. Location was near the Lover’s leap waterfall, max. 30 minutes walk and to the city center and Victorias garden it was approximately 1 hour walk but you can take a TukTuk. P.s. They have cute cat as a bonus :)
