Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandNice hotel, well equipped, in a quiet area on the other side of the Nam Khan river. The owner and the other staff were very firendly and helpful, there was free bike rental so it was easier/quicker to get to the historic centre. The area around the guesthouse itself is very quiet, there are common areas in the hotel where you can sit, read/use wifi in the shade and there is one of the best restaurants of the city (Dyen Sabai) just around the corner.

United StatesThe room I had was ground floor in the back and between the people walking above me, no open view out the window, and the low dark room I felt very claustrophobic. The internet was terrible and it was much better to rely on my cellular data which was a drag since I had an important business meeting. They require you to leave your key at the desk when you leave and close the gate at 11pm and I found myself rushing back hoping the boat ferry was still operational. I ended up cutting my stay short without a refund to move across the river.
Nice location outside of the hustle and bustle of town but double check the status of the bamboo bridge. It was out when I arrived and a couple of kids were making good money ferrying passengers across by boat, but occasionally they weren't there or the boat wasn't working and it's a really long walk or tuk tuk around.

United KingdomQuiet location in artisan quarter - near jewellery-making, wood-carving shops. Getting back over to central LP involves a boat at 5000 Kip or half hour walk via a steel frame bridge. Kind and courteous staff.

GermanyThe internet didn't work half of the days we stayed there but it was fine for us, just keep that in mind if you are working or need a strong wi-fi connection otherwise.
It is a nice place to stay. The rooms are big and the bed is comfortable. The location is also really great. You will have to cross the bamboo bridge every day. It's super beautiful. The staff is also very friendly.

Isle of ManThis isn’t the hotels fault but the bridge has washed away so you have to pay for a boat back and forth (5000) there is a bridge but it doubles the journey into town

ItalyAs everyone said before you have to cross and pay for the bamboo bridge! But it was a fun experience tho, and the hotel’s price is still very cheap (including the bridge fee).
We only spent here one night, which was very calm and quiet! Staff was very kind. We would recommend it!

CanadaIt's mildly annoying that you have to pay a bridge toll every time you cross into town and come back. The amount of money is negligible, but it feels a little bit like fleecing to have to pay once if you cross the bridge in the morning and then pay again if you cross in the afternoon. Not really the fault of the guest house, though.
Luang Prabang is a hideously tourist-infested town that travelers looking for a more relaxing experience should leave as soon as possible. Phonepraseuth guest house is well situated to do just that. It's about 20 minutes walk from the northbound bus station, and a bit over 30 minutes walk from the airport. Because it's across the river from the main tourist drag, it is slightly less depressing to walk around in the vicinity of the guest house, although the handful of nearby noodle places aren't open early if you want to get something to eat at the crack of dawn. On the up side, the room is comfortable, and they provide a little sachet of shampoo to wash your hair, which most places outside of the tourist center do not. Also there is a small market nearby where you can buy some supplies in relative peace (compared to other side of the river).

CanadaIssues with the room(s). I stayed only one night. In the first room the AC was not working so after some insisting that I need AC at night, I was switched to another room. In the second room the shower wasn't working. I don't know whether these two incidences just happened or whether nobody else had brought the issues to Mr Kim. (Sometimes I feel that guests don't mention problems, that they can't be bothered to complain). In the morning I went back to the original room to have a shower. In the second room there was no TV reception, not a big deal if you are travelling with your own technology, but if it's advertised it should work!! I asked for a room on the ground level, both rooms were dark, not well lit.
The owner, Mr Kim, was very helpful; he allowed me to use his printer to print copies of my Cambodian visa, and offered to drive me to the airport, a short drive.
