Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ChinaThe hotel is right next to the station so is very easily accessible. It is also very easy to get a bus down to Nara park and the other big sights. Great location. The room was a good size and well equipped. The hotel was lovely with so many extras - a free onsen, free evening drinks, pjs, a choice of pillows etc. Staff were very friendly and welcoming

CanadaI have been to this hotel before and it was my best hotel in the world and it did not meet my expectations from my previous experience.
We were not advised until we registered that the breakfast buffet was not available, the hôtel was under renovation and the room for 3 people was for parents with a child but not an adult.

United StatesThe bathroom is small, hard to turn around when n it.
Staff were very nice and helpful. Bed had a mattress topper, enough to absorb pressure from hips and shoulders. A desk wide enough for a laptop and all the other stuff that needs a place such as water bottles, phone charging g etc. Right next to train and bus station and easy to walk to many destinations. Decent onsen (spa) and a good breakfast. And again, the front desk staff were super nice and helped me book a chiropractic massage appointment.

SingaporeThe toilet is small and the staff may have difficulties understanding English but they tried hard which is the most important thing. But other than that, there are no adverse comments. It is a little noisy too in view that it is near a train station and you can almost hear the train moving in the early morning.
The location is exactly just beside Nara train station which was ideal. There is an onsen in the hotel itself with free coffee in the morning and bar service in the evening. You have access to different kind of pillows and there is laundry services with small fee of 200 yen. There are lots of shop nearby and it is only a 5 to 10 minutes walk away from the main area of Nara. There is also a nearby Anytime Fitness if anyone wants to gym too.

SwedenSmall thing that could be improved: The bathroom door’s design. I think my room’s door (941) was a little deformed as it could not be closed properly at the bottom. It caused an annoying sound to be emitted when the door was not closed in a certain way.
Staff. The use of a code instead of key or card. Access to spa.

United KingdomEntrance is a bit off-putting as it’s not so easy to see around the corner on the ground floor of a block. It’s a lift to the reception area and not very smart. Reception can seem a little cramped if many guests arrive at once.
Friendly and helpful staff, free evening drinks including Japanese spirits, machine dispensed sodas, tea, coffee, etc. Free public baths and toiletries/amenities. Good breakfast selection. Right outside the station.

SwitzerlandBreakfast was good but as it was hyped so much, I expected more. That said for about ¥1000 it is decent value. As you may from other Japanese hotels, they are very strict when it comes to operating hours (for everything).
The location is great just next to the railway. They have welcome bar every day, so if you once just want to bring some dinner “home” you can eat there and enjoy some free drinks. The onsen is decent but rather small.

BrazilMaybe room size? But then again it was what was advertised, so cant really complain. Breakfast could have more continental optinos - once again, not a very fair complaint, since we were the only western family in the place.
LOCATION - right by the station. I mean 5 min from getting out of the train. ROOM - simple, functional, clean. Not very large, just a counter across the window wall with a mini fridge (dont forget to switch it on, there is a button inside!) Huge TV. HDMI input for compatible equipment. Daughter slept on the bunk and had a blast. Double bed at the bottom is confortable. though tricky to rais from since one side is placed against the wall. BREAKFAST - limited continental, mostly asian style. No complaints, Very OK. Note - there was a happy hour going on that day, with free booze in the restaurant. Neat!

JapanI think it would be much better if the welcome bar can be opened until a little bit later like maybe 10 PM. Also, me and my partner had to share one long pillow, there was no extra one even though i asked the front staff.
I was surprised by the welcome bar when you can have free alcohol and non-alcohol drinks until 9 PM. The bar also has a very cozy atm with nice view too. The hotel’s onsen was very nice and clean.

CanadaThe room was small, but I used it primarily for sleeping for the I one night I was there. The window was covered by a sliding door in lieu of curtains, so either the windows provide light with the nearby building having a view in, or you rely on lights.
It is attached to the JR station by a 5 metre bridge, so no toting bags. The room entry was by a coffee, so no threat of a lost key.

ChinaRoom is too small.
Location is excellent, right beside the JR station. Room is too small to stay comfortably for two persons even for a short stay. Breakfast is simple but quite good. There is a natural onsen in the hotel, which is the added value for the guests if you like Japanese hot spring. Front desk staff are very nice, but speak poor English as usual.
