The staff was absolutely amazing. There was an older couple looking after us who were so kind, fun, and hospitable. They were funny and sweet and made sure to take care of us. Our room overlooked the river and we had our own toilet. The bath was shared but it wasn't a problem for us, we only had to wait for 30 minutes one time and the facilities themselves are EXCELLENT. This stay was a highlight of our trip!

Fantastic location by the river. Close to historic sections of Takayama. Lovely, traditional old ryokan. Nice Japanese breakfast (western also available). We loved our room overlooking the river.

Fantastic stay! The dinner and breakfast is delicious, and is a must for staying at a ryokan. Another great thing is that there is a family/semi-private onsen for you to enjoy.

Not the fault of the hosts who did an excellent job of keeping the ryokan clean, but other guests should know that the onsen is not intended for personal use (e.g. to exfoliate in). Despite this being very clear on the signage, there was a guest who did not adhere to it.

The location was an easy walk to and from Takayama station and very close to the morning markets. The hosts were extremely welcoming and the breakfasts were incredible.

IVery traditional Ryokan and within walking distance to town. On river across from morning market. Food is amazing and staff is really exceptional with sweet elderly couple helping and managing the Ryokan. I will highly recommend this place.

Nothing at all. This is a perfect ryokan stay for those visiting the area.

What a beautiful ryokan! This was such a treat to stay here and a very memorable part of our trip around the Japan. The lovely lady host looked after us and we had a fabulous evening meal here, beyond what we could have hoped for. After a long day walking in Kamikochi it was also wonderful to have the onsen to both relax and recharge! The rooms were very charming and the futons here were the first good night sleep we had after struggling with jet lag. Definitely recommend to others.

The place itself is a beautiful and well-maintained traditional home. The family hosting us were gracious, friendly, helpful and kind. Always smiling. We enjoyed two delicious included meals per day: Breakfast and dinner. The traditional meals were more like gourmet feasts featuring interesting local foods. The many little dishes were intricately prepared with stunning presentation. We also really enjoyed the experience of sleeping in a traditional room with a tatami mat floor. Very cosy! We'll be dreaming of our stay here for years to come and hope to visit again one day.

You have to go there, a must in Takayama! You can feel the real ryokan atmosphere. It is extremely clean, the owners are lovely and kind, excellent location in front of the river, and having the tradicional breakfast is an interesting experience. We highly recommend it!

Authentic Japanese home with onsen and very accommodating hosts. We had a bus trip early in the morning, the hosts woke up early to treat us to the breakfast. The onsen was great after a busy day.

The most incredible and welcoming hosts you could meet, they greeted us and showed us around the beautiful ryokan. You get lots of privacy and can use the onsen easily, it is very spacious and comfortable. The meals were incredible and a great chance to try new things for tourists! We just loved the hosts and couldn't reccomend enough

Lovely location and such a genuine Japanese experience to be had here. Fabulous breakfast served in our own breakfast room by the lovely family. Right on the river., go to sleep with the sounds of the water flowing by.

Very friendly and enthusiastic hosts. Beautiful and comfortable accommodation. Lovely location in Takayama by the river, but easy to get everywhere. Delicious Japanese dinner and breakfast. A real highlight of my holiday!
