Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandThe pool is a separate cost which i expected. However the sheer number of additional costs was baffling when the accommodation costs are considered.
Great room that were generously sized, especially the bed.

SingaporePerhaps housekeeping was a little too eager to get us out of the room when we got up a bit late from bed, but their service was exceptional.
Wonderful selection of breakfast, mix of Japanese, other Asian and Western. Good spread and very good service. Rooms are well-appointed and sea views are amazing.

United KingdomBreakfast was a little crowded and generally not big enough for peak times. Coffee machine was very limited & it would have been nice to have a selection like a late or cappuccino. Price of food in the restaurant was very expensive but the quality was OK There was also a lack of a casual bar area on the lower floors.
Proximity to the exhibition centre

NetherlandsA separate shower inbstead of a bathtub with a shower would have been nice. Nothing special.
I had an exhibition to attend in the Makuhari Messe. This hotel has a walking bridge (covered!) directly to that venue, so that was a no-brainer. My coworkers and business relations stayed in hotels next door or behind (APA, Francs). The New Otani is not only closer but it is more quiet than the APA and has far better facilities than Francs. The breakfast is amazing, the service is great, the halls and the restaurant are spacey and beautiful. Room was super quiet, I stayed at the 10th floor and had a view on Makuhari, the ocean and Mount Fuji.

BelgiumDining facilities excellent, but quite expensive. Breakfast not always of the highest quality. Upstairs bar high quality, but expensive and a little soulless. Don't forget the scale of Tpkyo; it's a fair distance to the city, with frequent standing on the train, or an expensive taxi ride. Airport bus schedule is limited.
Breakfast was eclectic and plentiful. Location great for the Makuhari messe, with simple walking access to the station and many local dining establishments, bars and shops. Hotel bus to and from both airports is convenient and cheap. Rooms a good size and of high quality.

Japaninterior is a bit dated, beds and pillows could use a refresh—they were fine but not up to modern expectations. In-room amenities were not as expected, notably missing water although there were vending machines on the second floor. Room service was clearly designed to discourage use
for activities at the Messe the hotel is perfectly located. Top floor bar/lounge was very nice and had good views and breakfast was decent

United StatesReally nothing I didn't like. I guess the only very small complaint was the age of the bidet since I'd used much newer ones since I'd come to Japan. But even that is a tiny complaint.
The staff was excellent. The room was beautiful. The View was exquisite. The Internet was insanely fast. I needed to drop off my luggage as soon as I got there and they gave me the application for the check-in. When I got there, they'd already taken the luggage to the room as you'd expect from a 5 star hotel. Being connected to the Makuhari Convention Center made it very convenient to get to and from the event I went to.

United StatesThey needed a credit card with raised digits for the payment at check in. None of my modern cards have that anymore, so it was a bit of a panic moment to deal with.
The room itself was incredibly large for what I'm used to for stays in Japan. The hotel has a retro charm to it and the view from the rooftop restaurant/bar is really something. Love that it's a quick walk to the convention center.

JapanIt’s quite old (probably built in 1980s), so the room facilities seemed quite outdated but still functioning well.
I think this is the closest hotel to Makuhari Messe, so it’s quite convenient if you are attending conferences or events.

United StatesBreakfast included with room did not have as wide a selection of Japanese food we would like. And the space was limited so at times there were long lines waiting to get in. Especially on weekends, when it gets crowded.
very conveniently located to Kaihinmakuhari station, 30 minutes by train to Tokyo station, and about half that the Disney Tokyo resort. also free bus to Disney, although we didn’t go. The staff was uniformly terrific. always helpful and cheerful. Loved the Art Deco design of spacious lobby area.
