Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Absolutely everything was fantastic. The location is great, with an amazing view over Sant'Angelo from the terrace. The owner and staff are genuinely nice people, which made our stay pleasant and comfortable. The hotel is clean and bright. I highly recommend having at least one, if not more, dinners at Villa Maria; the quality of the menu is excellent. In short, you can stay here without any hesitation. If we will visit Samt Angelo again we would stay here again.

South AfricaNo WiFi signal in the room.
Beautiful family run Villa / hotel. Located on a perch overlooking Sant’Angelo and so close to stroll into the town to shop, and eat. And not far to walk to nice beaches. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The breakfast on the patio overlooking the sea was so lovely - and they make a delicious cappuccino.

United StatesThe bed was a little too firm for us, but it wouldn’t stop us from returning for another stay.
Beautiful dining terrace for breakfast and dinner. Don’t miss dinner, it’s better than any of the restaurants you’ll find in town. Well situated to walk to town or to the beaches to the east. You’ll get your steps in!

AustraliaOrganise a porter for your luggage before arriving at the accomodation. We unfortunately were not aware and it was difficult getting everything uphill.
I loved Villa Maria. If you are searching for a laid back and authentic experience - this is the place. We stayed with our toddler and the hotel is very family friendly. The terrace is a great way to start and finish your day after exploring Sant Angelo. The dinners are excellent value for money - food which is grown in their own garden and fresh seafood. I would highly recommend and stay again.

RomaniaFrom start to finish, everything was truly outstanding. The dinner was excellent, the view was stunning, and what made our experience truly special was the way the family-staff treated us, like we were part of their own family. The warm and welcoming atmosphere created by them made our stay feel not just comfortable but also incredibly personal. It's rare to find such genuine hospitality, and it made our time at their place truly memorable. It was, by far, the best experience we've had at any hotel we've visited so far.

United KingdomThe WIFI connection in my room wasn't that great (it would disconnect a few times a night).
I really really enjoyed my stay at Villa Maria! The hotel was about 10 minutes walk from the bus station (you could either walk up the stairs from the town area or hire an electric car if you have a lot of luggage). My room was on the second floor with a balcony area shared with other rooms on the same floor. The view from the balcony/hotel was absolutely stunning. There were also some sun lounge chairs on the balcony for guests to use and areas to hang your washing/clothes. As the hotel was quite high up the hill, it was really breezy which was nice. The hotel is family-run, and everyone there was really nice and friendly. They'd always meet you with a smile, and have your needs met! Have I mentioned about the food? Well, the food at the hotel was really really good!! I didn't plan to, but I ended up having all my dinners at the hotel as the food was so good (I think I had three plates of starters one night). I would say it was the best food I had had during my entire stay in Italy. I also did some yoga lessons with Sabrina, which took place on the roof terrace of the hotel. Listening to the sounds of the waves, overlooking the ocean and coastline, what could be a better setting for yoga practice/meditation than this? As it was my first time doing yoga, Sabrina really made sure the lessons were suited to my level/needs. She was really flexible with the timing of the lessons too. It was such a good first experience of yoga, thank you so much!

United KingdomPillows were very hard. Although it is personal preference, my partner did not mind. It would be good to have a couple of glasses and a corkscrew in the room. We had to go to the reception to borrow one.
Staff was lovely. The views were beautiful. Room was not huge but it had everything that was needed. There was also a very cute resident cat that sometimes came to say hello!

GermanyWe thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this gem of a hotel, what I appreciate the most is the hospitality and attention to detail of the host. Since this is a family run hotel, u actually feel like family. So much warmth and kindness really sets them apart. Food is on another level, we ate almost everyday from hotel and loved it.

AustraliaBeds, as in mattresses definitely - they are very firm. And if I was being super critical desserts always left me a little underwhelmed (but by the time I got to dessert it was probably a good thing).
Hotel Villa Maria is third generation family owned and an absolute gem of a find if they can fit you in. The hotel is perched on a hill with incredible views and vista and positioned to get the sun all day. The family with staff run the hotel and they could not do more for you if they had tried. Incredibly accommodating and helpful from the time we got there to the time we left. Make sure you stay for dinner €30 (at time of writing) which included a buffet of starters which was the highlight - you could base your whole dinner on just the starters truth be told, but then there were three more courses to deal with - and they were also fantastic. Dinner was a shotgun start at 7:30pm which allows you take in the sunset and not miss out on the starters ( note - a lot of the vegetables are grown by the family. Also, dinner can be booked separately - you do not need to staying but it is nice to wander down from your hotel room after a day at the beach Breakfast was buffet European style and a 10/10 - pastries were superb and good coffee, heaps of fruit and cereals topped off with the amazing view to kickstart every morning The hotel have about 20 beach chairs on Maronite beach with a small cafe there as well - definitely worth a wander down to. There is a separate cost for the chairs. This was our second stay in Sant Angelo and we will definitely return to Villa Maria when we go back - people, view, food - we just relaxed - we even know what rooms we will be asking for ….

AustraliaThis was one of the best stays we have ever had!! My partner and I were on a 6 week europe holiday and villa maria was by far our favorite location. Firstly, THE VIEW is even better than the photos! Every morning we were blown away by the beautiful view as we enjoyed our breakfast. The room was gorgeous, we especially loved the spacious terrace where we enjoyed a glass of wine most evenings. We had read that the hotel put on a delicious dinner in their restaurant and that was absolutely true. We loved the dinner so much we ate at the hotel 4 out of our 5 nights and the antipasto appetizers is something we will be coming back for. The vegetables picked fresh from their garden daily made these meals some of the best we had on our entire trip. Lastly, the service of Gennaro and his family were what made this hotel so special. They were so kind to use during our entire stay and Genarro was so incredibly helpful in recommending day to day activities (he speaks excellent English!!). We loved this place so much, it felt like our home away from home and we are already planning our next return!

The first moment I entered through the blue gates and gorgeous garden I knew I had arrived in paradise . The amazing view and terrace spread out before me took my breath away !!!! I loved the attentive welcoming family run hotel , the attention to detail and the amazing dinner we ate in house every night , cooked from the kitchen garden , seasonal and the Italian experience we were after … exceptional and good value . Breakfast on the terrace with ocean vista was a treat and our cappuccino expertly made . The excitement of the amazing breakfast had us up and ready . French toast with succulent strawberries , pancakes , Italian sugar donuts , beautiful cheese and meats , so much to choose it was another highlight of this amazing hotel . My ocean terrace room was immaculate and so clean , the floor tiles gorgeous , the French doors opening onto the terrace with shutters offered privacy and allowed the sea air and morning birdsong in … evenings on the terrace outside my room I had sun chairs to relax on and even a line to hang my swimmers … bliss to watch the sunset . loved everything and next time when I return I will stay longer … Thankyou for looking after me kim smith

UkraineThe best holidays ever! Beautiful and cosy hotel with very pleasant and helpful owners. We had a feeling of family visit. The room was huge and there was enough place for 4 persons. Also we had a big terrace with a table and chairs. The bathroom was also rather big. Breakfast are gorgeous!!! A lot of tasty and delicious things! Mozzarella here is amazing! Better than in the different city restaurace. The beach is 15 minutes to walk down from the hill. 2 Sunbeds and umbrella cost 10-15€ per day depending on the line.

United KingdomThe only reason I am giving a 9 instead of a 10 is getting to the property. We arrived by bus to Sant'Angelo from Ischia Porto and were quoted €15 to the hotel from the terminal in a permitted golf buggy... too much Google maps was very confused when walking us there. There really needs to be a sign pointing left to 'Villa Maria', up the slope - at the base of the transport piazza... we ended up walking all the way round the back and round...
A family run hotel - 2 particular members absolutely amazing - Gennaro and Carmella - thank you so much for your warmth, help and advice, it was so much appreciated.💗 The situation is fabulous; a dining terrace with far-reaching views out to sea for enjoying your scrumptious evening meals and abundant breakfasts. I would totally recommend taking the meal of the day option for an amazing value €30 pp. We did this for our 3 night stay. All 3 nights did not disappoint... the help yourself antipasti was to absolutely die for...💗💗 We could not afford the rooms adjoining the hotel, but were in a separate house further up the hill, which was very quiet and peaceful.
