Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThat we only stayed three nights! Next time, it will be longer.
The hotel is on the edge of the perfect storybook town…San Casciano in Val di Pesa. The town is small and lovely…perfect for a late night stroll, excellent dining and shopping. The owners, Alessandra and Amadeus and their son Lorenzo were the perfect hosts….warm, welcoming and accommodating. No request was refused…whether it was a light meal sent to our room, eggs for breakfast just the way we like them, or finding us rides to and from Florence. Truly, we felt like we were staying with family rather than strangers.

United KingdomLovely location (beatuiful old house/villa) in quiet part of the village. Very comfortable, huge room with large bed and ensuite bedroom and view of the countryside. The owners were lovely people and could not have been more helpful. Fantastic, varied breakfast with fresh fruit, pastries, iltalian bread, cold meats, cheese, cereal and eggs cooked in whatever way you liked all prepared by Lorenzo who was charming. Great, good size and brand new pool in the garden with comfortable sunbeds. In walking distance to lovely old village with great restaurants and places to have a coffee.

United KingdomNo complaints at all!
I really couldn’t recommend Villa Il Fedino more- Lorenzo and his parents are so welcoming and friendly and gave fantastic tips on where to visit in the local area. The breakfast was second to none- different every day with a selection of everything you could want (fruit, cheeses and meats from the region, their own olive oil, toast, pastries and eggs cooked any way you request) and restaurant quality! The stone pool is newly built and lovely to swim in-always clean and the perfect temperature. The room was very spacious with a comfortable bed and the room was cleaned every day. The location was fantastic for being able to take in the local areas and every restaurant that Lorenzo recommended was stellar. We are definitely going to return - if only to continue the wonderful conversations we had with Lorenzo and his family.

United StatesOnly thing to say is we did not rent a car and therefore knowingly had to wait for bus or take taxis but this was our choice. Some may want their own vehicle to get around easier.
The location in the Tuscany hills was gorgeous and a great break from the bigger cities. The Villa and the room were wonderful and the family was even better! They took time to talk and answer questions and our experience was fantastic. The breakfast freshly prepared was excellent and oh so much fresh food! Highly recommend this Villa and we will return! And yes the small town is walking distance and does offer good restaurants and shops. Bus to Florence is easy and cheap.

United StatesBeautiful, historic 500 year old family villa conveniently located in San Casciano, amidst the stunning rolling hills, Cypress trees and grapevines of Chianti country. San Casciano is a short drive from Firenze and also accessible from there by local bus. Excellent base for pecorino tasting and wine tasting! The villa is a very short walk to the center of town. Ample sized rooms and suites with very high ceilings. Period furniture and crests of the family adorn the reception area and individual rooms. The warm and generous hospitality of our hosts, Alessandra, Ahmed and Lorenzo remain in our hearts and memories. Super chef Lorenzo (who was on Channel 1, the main TV station) prepares outstanding breakfasts for the villa’s guests. How amazing it is to awake in the mornings to the wafts of Lorenzo’s creations in the oven! The outdoor swimming pool is under construction and is due to be completed in about a month. Usually guests are able to have Lorenzo’s amazing breakfasts on the patio against the stunning backdrop of the Chianti hills. This visit breakfast was served in the indoor historic dining room due to the pool construction. Breakfast on the patio with its scenic overlook will resume very soon! I stayed here last year and returned this year — I yearned for my dose of San Casciano and Villa Il Fedino and Lorenzo’s culinary delights!

The host Lorenzo was brilliant! He helped us a lot with recommendations to great places and the breakfast was the best I had excellent experience. Moreover we had a unexpected event that made us cancel one night and the hotel was very understanding of the situation and cancelled the night without penalty although they did not had to do it.

My daughter and I visited Italy for the first time this month, and our most favorite memories are of our stay at Villa il Fedino in San Casciano! This is a gorgeous 700-year-old family-owned and -run villa, furnished with restored antiques. We loved the museum-like setting where we were welcomed with warmth and kindness. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with incredible views. It's a very short walk from the villa to town, while the patio in back of the villa overlooks the vast rolling Tuscan hills. The breakfasts were exquisite and varied each day, including pastries, fresh fruit, made-to-order eggs, breakfast pizza, and several additional memorable items. We also highly recommend joining the chef's cooking class! We both agree that cooking with Lorenzo was the best memory of our whole trip! Lorenzo (6th generation) is knowledgeable, fun, and a great teacher. Each participant experienced rolling and cutting pasta. The afternoon also included an organic vegetable salad; risotto; sauce for our fresh pasta; as well as tastings of Tuscan cheese, Chianti Classico wine, and the best extra virgin olive oils in Italy. I encourage you to call or email the villa to enroll in Lorenzo's class.

The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. We were kindly given a free upgrade to a suite and the room was humongous. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the shower was great (the complimentary shampoo was also really wonderful) and there was plenty of space for my partner to catch up on work. Breakfast every day was incredible - a huge array of pastries (and not just your standard croissants), fresh fruit, bread and olive oil from the hotel’s own trees, pizza, meats and cheese, and a choice of eggs, as well as the option to have cereal or yoghurt. The very best bit though was the amazing staff. Lorenzo and his family were so welcoming, so kind, and especially as we were travelling with our newborn for the very first time, made us feel so safe. I would absolutely come again.

United KingdomThe fact we forgot to buy some hand pressed handmade at the villa olive oil. The special chefs combination of blended olives was exceptional and I'm not a fan of olive oil until I came here.
Before even going in, the car park was very spacious for our van and the entrance had a luxurious feel. The family who have had the residence in five generations were absolute pros. Courteous, considerate, very kind and went well beyond what you would expect and we have experienced elsewhere in Italy. The feeling of warmth and deep passion for what they do and for people and food blew us away. Breakfast was especially made for my vegan needs in addition and everything but one pasty was handmade and you can tell. I felt like I had a Michelin star breakfast. We were upgraded as a kind gesture and the room was exceptional. Clean and everything you could want. Beautiful decor and a real gem. Recommend to anyone in the area. We visited Florence not too far away and this Villa was a break from pure chaos. We loved every aspect. You would be a fool not to stay there.

The breakfast here was amazing, we were spoilt rotten with fresh eggs which i would highly recommend, there was fresh bread with amazing olive oil and fresh pastries. We were there in January which is out of season still the communication between us and site was so helpful. when we arrived on site the host could not be more accommodating they upgraded us to a stunning room, the whole place was breathing taking. the host gave us a map of the local town and advised the best places and what was local. there is parking on site. This was really value for money. If you want to be left alone this is the place for you, or if you want to be treated like family this is also the place for you. this would be an amazing place to hold a wedding or event. they also offer cooking lessons. There is a fridge in the room and tea and coffee is provided.
