Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Really lovely, friendly hotel in a perfect location over-looking the sea and an oasis of calm. The staff made us and our dog feel so welcome and this was a welcome retreat from the tourist packed Cinque Terre nearby. Short walk to the beach and also to the train station with trains down the coast to the Cinque Terre. The food was excellent particularly the dinners

CanadaA full length mirror and larger bathroom next time would ask for the balcony rooms they have larger bathrooms. The beds are firm not soft.
This is our second stay here. The location is close to the train station and they will pick you up if you ask. It is absolutely fabulous excellent breakfast with so much choice in their buffet. They also have an excellent restaurant where if you choose you can reserve a table outside where the view is outstanding. The staff are all friendly and helpful . The town Bonasola is quieter than the next town of Levanto but the beach is nicer and the vibe less hectic. This location is excellent as a base for visiting the Chique Terre towns. Great value for money.

United KingdomThe walk from the village to the hotel was up lots of steps, which was hard work after a day walking in the area.
The view from the room was fantasic, I wish we had paid extra and booked a room with a balcony. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a good range of choices of food. We decided to eat in the resturant most nights as the food was so good.

Beautiful hotel, tastefully decorated, the views from the terrace were gorgeous. Lovely restaurant, beautiful decor, excellent freshly cooked food. Wonderful staff, friendly, welcoming, helpful. The girl from reception, went over and above to be helpful with train times and helping us to book a taxi to Levanto, to catch an express train to Pisa airport for our plane home. The same receptionist gave us advice on a trip to Portofino which include a boat trip to a monastery. Her local knowledge was extensive.

The view from the hotel is great and the terrace is excellent. The location is perfect for a visit to Cinque Terre. It is the ideal place to enjoy calmness and peacefulness. The hotel's common areas have lots of beautiful details that add to the character of this hotel. The rooms are quite big and very clean and even though their "age" shows, it feels like they blend well with the entire hotel. Parking is provided for free. The breakfast is a full buffet with lots of choices.

United StatesThe location was quite a walk from the town no one really described that it was, what felt like, 500 meters of direct descending followed by ascension when coming back.
Property is quirky in its own way. Definitely cute!

IrelandAbsolutely nothing could have been better
Everything exceeded my expectations - the views from our room and the hotel, the breakfast (and view while having it outdoors), the garden, the location (just 5 min walk to town/beach and 10 min back), the staff's warmth and customer service! We had dinner one night and it was exceptional. I wished we had more time there on our trip along the Ligurian coast. A gem!

GermanyOur room and the hotel actually lacked a place to dry the wet stuff from the sea. In general, as most structures in Liguria region it would deserve some renovation here and there. I understand that we are in high season and so on, still the price we payed starts to head towards a 4 star hotel.
The location is truly beautiful in Bonassola, calm and silent, but still very close to the center. We found the area outside alone worth the hotel, very nicely cured in the small details. Lovely. The restaurant is good and the breakfast in the morning more than enough and of good quality.

GermanyNo criticism, just some notes: Since it's old and rustic, there is no elevator, but the staff will help with luggage, if necessary.
It's a beautiful, rustic old school hotel with a gorgeous view over the bay of the little town of Bonassola. The staff is very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The food at the hotel restaurant is typical and regional. There's a cute hotel cat that seems to be the (unofficial) boss of the place. You can walk down to the beach in just a couple of minutes and leave the car parked at the hotel. Definitely worth a visit.
