Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomYou do really need a car to get out and about from this property. Once you enter the grounds it's very peaceful but it's approached from quite a busy road and walking along it to get to the one nearby pizzeria or into Monopoli (a 30-40 minute walk away) is quite challenging!
We have just returned from a fabulous week long stay at Villa Al Mare. The pictures just don't do this beautiful property justice! The grounds are stunning and we enjoyed the many quiet shady spots amongst the fruits trees to escape the heat. The pool area is lovely and we very often found we had it to ourselves. The property is immaculately maintained and the rooms are modern, well equipped and spacious. Delicious breakfasts are served, with lots of variety. The staff team, led by Mauro the manager, are kind, attentive and could not do enough to help. We were very sad to leave and thoroughly recommend.

United KingdomNothing - everything was perfect
We had a great stay at Villa al Mare. The staff and manager were friendly, caring and always available. The place was lovely and actually exceeded our expectations: the garden is splendid, the pool area is beautiful, breakfast was fresh and varied, the property’s location is exceptional and only 4 min away from Monopoli (by car), which was really practical. Strongly recommend!

DenmarkYou need a car. Even though in walking distance to city center the route to there was not really good for walking in the evenings when dark. Quite isolated - only staff during the mornings. Not really sure why it is called spa and wellness.
Very nice host. The rooms are comfortable, the surroundings nice and the breakfast ok. Good distance to the city center and the beach. The host is extremely helpful.

MexicoIn the family suite will be useful a laundry room or access to a laundry room for long stays.
Villa al Mare is a wonderful place to stay near Monopoli. Confortable room. Friendly staff very resourceful always helpful and providing great dining recommendations. Italian breakfast is available every morning. The pool was very enjoyable in the afternoon when coming back from the beach club and also a pleasant jacuzzi in our family suite and terrace to enjoy the sunset. We loved the location and beach clubs nearby. We will definitively come back.

United KingdomThe property was beautiful inside and out - the outdoor area had various shady, relaxing areas and amazing outdoor kitchen facilities - having spent the morning relaxing by the gorgeous pool, we would then all have lunch together, plenty of seating for our group - it almost felt like your own villa The breakfast was first class, many variations daily, exciting to see what was coming next And last but not least - the staff were exceptional, friendly, helpful, couldn’t do enough for you - top class holiday spot - 100% recommend

The bauhaus architecture was beautiful! Stunning building. All renovated and clean. Mauro was super friendly and helpful. The location is right near the beach, where there are some nice beach clubs. Comfortable beds and private balcony. Only a 10 minute drive into the city. It’s nice and quiet, away from the busy city centre. A car is best suited if you are staying at this hotel, free parking too. The pool was lovely and clean. The Italian breakfast was delicious! We loved the fresh pastry’s, fruit, egg and coffee each morning. We were sad to leave. This was our favourite accommodation in Monopoli.

United KingdomFor those who like to wear non creased clothing, there was no iron but this is a very minor point.
We were very lucky as the other guests did not use the facilities so it felt like we had a villa to ourselves. The outside kitchen and seating areas were great for lunches in the garden. The grounds and villa areas were kept meticulously clean. The main veranda was a lovely area for relaxing. There was a very reasonable (in terms of price) pizzeria nearby and supermarkets to stock up on food and drink and eating at the villa is a very pleasant experience. The centre of Monopoly was only about a 30 minute walk. The team at Villa Al Mare were all excellent and couldn't do enough to make our stay memorable and enjoyable. Hats off to the team at the Villa!! If you want space and beautiful surroundings, this is the place for you.

United KingdomCould potentially offer a kitchen space for making lunch / dinner
We had a wonderful stay at the villa al mare. It was set in a great location with stunning grounds and pool. Our villa host Mauro made our stay exceptional, he gave us fantastic recommendations and even gave us lifts into the centre. Angela was also great and her breakfast was delicious. An added bonus was the fresh fruit that you can pick & eat direct from the trees on the villa grounds. We can’t wait to come back and would recommend to anyone staying in Monopoli. :)

United KingdomMauro, the manager, is the perfect helpful host and went above and beyond to assist with recommendations and indeed some lifts. Angela keeps the place immaculate and produces a traditional Italian breakfast of quality. The gardener nurtures an expansive outdoor space with array of fruit trees and colourful flowering shrubs providing many areas of seating for sun and shade within the private grounds. The beautiful pool plus the tennis court were used on a daily basis.

Polandtypical Italian breakfast, could be improved. *Its not something I didn’t like but it’s just a fact - better to have a car, although it’s not impossible to do it without :) also if you have some anxieties with being alone in big facility surrounded with big olive orchard make sure if there are other guest, no staff\reception at the place, so at night I felt a bit insecure (although there are cameras all over the place and a fence, so as I said, just a feeling )
amazing place!!! designed in such a details, clean and tidy, nice nature all around yet 10 minutes walking to seaside, 40 minutes to city. They have bicycles for rent, and pool is just lovely. contact with manager is smooth, Mauro was so extremely kind and helpful in so many things! I would definitely come there again !

United KingdomTo be honest everything was perfect and we've been very well looked after. It was just the 2 of us in the whole property so it is understandable that the breakfast selection wasn't too vast, but the options that were present were still great! Amazing local pastries and classic italian breakfast staples.
The place is a gem! Newly refurbished and able to blend in with the surrounding old olive tree field. We were lucky enough to be the only guests during our stay, but even if it had a full house it was so spacious that you wouldn't feel it crowded. Just 25 minutes walking out of the old town centre, it has a tennis court and an amazing swimming pool for the sporty ones, a citrus trees orchard and 100 olive trees all around the property. The staff was extremely accommodating and nice, we were treated splendidly. My partner didn't feel well one of the days and the staff did everything they could to support us. I strongly reccomend visiting this part of Puglia and staying at this amazing Villa.
