Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BahrainPAYING 10EURO PER DAY, PER PERSON TO USE THE POOL, PLUS 4 EURO COMPULSORY PURCHASE OF A SWIM CAP WAS A BIT RIDICULOUS. Food staff at breakfast a little rude. Coffee not great. Quite dated. Would have been a fabulous hotel in its day. The beach volleyball court lights are on very late and did impact on the sunset.
Nice ocean view. Good free AC. Spacious room. View of sunset. Direct moon to water. Breakfast good. Receptions and manager staff helpful. Parking great and seemed safe. Safe to stay in. If I was alone I would feel okay. Retro vibe.

United KingdomNot many food options. Breakfast is not hygienic due to no way of preserving food from 6:30am - 10:30am and mainly cake. Some of the staff members.were very rude and not many spoke English or Spanish which caused a lot of issues. There were hidden and ridiculous daily prices for the swimming pool (per person) plus mandatory swimming hats at 4€ each, hidden prices at the restaurant; including high service charge, charge for tap water, high cab rates and per person rates that didn't make sense, 10€ per person one way, meaning 40€ return for a short journey. Fortunately, we got a kind cab driver who gave us 10€ off for a return journey. The shower leaked into the hallway and bedroom. We mentioned this to the staff twice and they said they'd get the "technician" to come but no one did. Only one light worked in the bedroom. The wires were coming out of the lamps. I ordered a coffee one morning for breakfast and forgot to say "soya" milk, by the time I corrected the order, the coffee was made with dairy milk already.. The staff member, arched his back and made a sound of frustration that I can only describe as a toddlers' tantrum. I was in complete shock and would have taken this behaviour up with the manager had I not been so emotional due to such mistreatment during our stay at Sunbay Park Hotel. Also the language barrier didn't help! Furthermore, when asking for coffee during breakfast, staff treated my partner and I, as if we were stealing from them. Even though we're paying customers and breakfast was included in our stay. My Italian skills are very minimal but I tried as much as I could. I speak English and Spanish and used Google translate, however communicating with the staff was still very difficult. Overall customer service was zero and we are seeking compensation.
The view of the sea and the wine. Sandra the room service cleaner was great.

CanadaThis is completely misrepresented on booking.com There was only 1 pool, not 2, and it was green with algae and not swimmable. They wanted to charge 10euro a person to use it and it was disgusting. They also say they have private beach access but when asked the staff said there is no beach access at all anywhere. Completely misrepresented and ruined our vacation. We ended up spending a lot of money to use the surrounding beach clubs (which were lovely) but could have paid for a cheaper spot in town and had access to restaurants. Overall a total waste and not worth anyone's money.

Absolutely not a 4star hotel. Felt like we could have been in a third world country!

United StatesMost of all this is not a hotel, it is more of a hostel. This is not an Accord quality hotel… more like a place that time forgot. No upgrades in over a decade… still old key locks, that don’t work properly… children’s twin beds shoved together, TV that barely works on small screens, looking more like computer monitors… tiled floors in rooms, damp smelling bathroom and it looks like a kindergarten children’s group was brought in to paint the trim and woodwork…
Not much… the staff were friendly, that’s about it

PortugalVery old facilities. Went for dinner at 21:30 where reception told us it was until 23:00, ando they only had 3 options at that time. All 5 chose to eat lasagna that was clearly heated up in the microwave since some came cold and very dry. At the end impossibility to charge the room and the check Came hand written on a cut piece of paper. 82€ for a very bad meal. So expressive and incredible to believe for a mercure hotel. Rooms besides clean are sooooo out of date. Very old, lots os squeaky noises from the ver structure and curtains although are blackouts let in a lot of light.
Property was clean and receptions girls were nice.
