Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BrazilThe room view was spoiled by car park just under. And what could be peaceful and quiet was spoiled every morning by the noisy sand blowers in the beach resorts. Breakfast vibe was horrible, a bit like a prison or a school cafeteria where you are not allowed to help yourself. The only thing you can pick by yourself is boiled eggs. The rest is served over a queue by staff behind some barrier. The very low sides were the swimming pools. There are 2. One is an indoor one and it was out of order most of our 9 days there and once they open it had silly rules and schedules. Same as the outdoor pool in a funny shape that it was shaded most of the day and one couldn't get in without a swimmers hat. It was also shut from 1 - 3 for the lifeguard rest. All just bizarre!
I think this is the only seafront hotel that is also walking distance to the center of Gaeta and that is why we chose it. We were very happy about that. The room (Junior suite with sea view) was very big, airy and had a nice cool temperature. The bathroom was also big and good. Breakfast staff was very helpful and tried to make the most of the silly situation. The beach is very nice and you have the option to book beds in the hotel area for a price. Not sure why people complained about that. One can always go somewhere else, as we did a few times.

United StatesThe room has a step in the middle, and immediately after is the entrance door. The first time I went in, it was dark, there was no light in the corridor, and when I opened the door I tripped on the step, injuring my ankle. What's the point of having a huge step in the middle of a room?

RomaniaThe hotel is very old, especially rooms need refurbishment; the bath was tiny, when searing or the toilet I was putting my feet in the shower cabin (which had less than 1 sqm!)
The hotel reception lounge and garden are very artsy, with lots of 50s to 80s art work and furniture; breakfast was excellent

PolandThe furniture in hotel is really old and the bathroom needs to repair for sure. Also one guy at the reception was not friendly ( he didn’t help us with the information about the best way to airport and my friend changed the room, because I was leaving, so he said 2 times that I COULD NOT ENTER THE ROOM of my friend).
The hotel has really special vibe and really recommend to visit the garden. It’s really so close to sea and the views are amazing from the room. The stuff was helpful, especially cleaning team and the guy who serve the breakfast and brought the coffee for us :)

New ZealandThe breakfast room looked a bit tired and paint was peeling off the windows. The elevator is tiny and when the door is left open on the top floors, the elevator can't come back down to the ground floor.

AustriaThere were small details about the room and the facilities that could be easily improved. In general the building is old and might benefit from a more in depth renovation.
Breakfast was nice, although there was too much sugary stuff. You can see the beach from the room and enjoy the night, but you do not hear the waves because of the street in front. The AC worked perfectly, and the bed was comfortable enough/
