Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RomaniaThe room was not that well lit. The bathroom is very narrow.
The hotel is a street away from the beach. The breakfast was on the terrace which had an excellent view. Ask at the hotel for recommendation on what beach to rent the reclining chairs to get the reduction.

United KingdomThe air-con didn’t seem to work so our room was quite warm - we asked if we were able to take a towel for the beach and we weren’t allowed, this would be a great extra with them recommending the beach across the road

South AfricaThe outside areas of the hotel needs a bitof maintenance to be more inviting.
Well priced stay close to the beach. The breakfast was good, which had yoghurt, fruit, cereal, cold meat variety, bread & pastries. The hotel staff is friendly and helpfull. It can also be used as a base to go for day trips to Pisa, Lucca etc.. using the train.

NetherlandsWe had booked this hotel for the sea view. However, the window was high, so you couldn't see the sea from the room (bed). Also, there were no table/chairs on the balcony. In short, yes, when you step onto the balcony, you see the sea. But don't expect (for example) balcony where you can sit with a bottle of wine to enjoy the view. Furthermore, the toilet had the smell of old urine.
Average hotel, price-quality ratio is fine. Located on the boulevard with various restaurants within easy reach. Breakfast is decent with cappuccino prepared by the bartender and delicious cream croissants.

United Kingdom- The hotel has some weird breakfast policy where you have to stand there and tell a waiter what would you like from their buffet. It works really poorly and takes a lot of time. Would be much better if you could use the buffet on your own like in all other places - Our room was really small. Especially the bathroom, we barely could fit there. There even was a problem with towels placement as there were not enough hooks or horizontal surfaces to hang or lay them - Hard to operate shower cabin. Either we were too stupid or too weak to use it. - No free water like stated in the room description. There was some water in the mini-fridge but there also was a leaflet nearby saying that water from minibar costs money. - (somewhat negative) The closest free beach is 15 mins away by foot
- Really close to the promenade and beaches - Decent quality breakfast - Great staff - Amazing always open roof terrace, with a direct sea view. You have a breakfast on it in the morning but then can use it all day if you want. Great to bring a bottle of wine and enjoy the view/sunset with your partner

United KingdomThe balcony was very small but this can be overlooked as the views made up for it! The bedroom as quite small and the bed a bit too firm for my liking. The air con could have been better but if left on (which I don't really like to do) it cooled the room down enough especially as the sun shone in all day. There were metal shutters that were great for keeping out the suns rays during the day and keeping the room dark in the morning. The breakfast set up was very strange -it was like Covid still existed - you could not pick your own from the buffet, you had to point to everything and it was put onto plates and brought to your table. At busy times during breakfast service, you could be standing for a while and you almost felt rushed when it was your turn to pick what you wanted rather than mulling over what was available. I also thought this gave staff unnecessary work to do and they were stressed most of the time.
Viareggio is a beautiful location and we had a sea facing balcony (albeit a very small balcony) and were able to enjoy the last of the sun each day, with beautiful sunsets and great to people watch. The hotel itself is in a prime spot in the middle of the long stretch of beach. Great restaurant with live music just over the road called Fantastik and the nicest people running the private beach area at Amore (note - it costs 30 euro (minimum) for a parasol and a couple of beds. We never found out how much the cabanas were!!! The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was served on the beautiful outdoor terrace on the top floor which was just wonderful sitting looking out to the sea.

United StatesBreakfast buffet was not self-service, you would have to point to items you would want from there and staff would bring them to you, which I thought was pretty random, though I think it's related to COVID precautions (it is 2023, though).
Staff was friendly, helpful and readily available. The room was clean, spacious and we got a beautiful sea view! The location was perfect as it was just a few steps away from the beach. The terrace is amazing, with a beautiful view, the breakfast there was overall pretty good.

United KingdomAt the price, there wasn’t much here not to like; but in the interest of fairness I would point out a few things. 1. The corner shower was too small to bend over in, making feet-washing difficult (and for those stiff of joint, a bit dangerous.) Also—and *all* hotels need to know this: once you use shampoo—and especially, conditioner—your classic “non-slip” shower tray is no longer non-slip. Quite the opposite. This can be serious for and in particular, seniors like myself. (Not to single-out the HSF on this, I tell *every* hotel I stay in that non-slip suctioned shower mats should be standard in every shower, everywhere.) 2. I’m guessing that in the past, too many guests at the HSF have abused their breakfast … “allowance.” Seemingly owing to this—and as a seasoned traveller, I have to say, quite forgivable—the dining room staff are required to “serve” you.” In other words, you must go through a somewhat laborious process of, point-and ask: “I’ll have two of those and one of that, and a bit of this, (… etc.)” As nice as the staff at the HSF are, the process is—given the language barrier—more trouble than assistance. And at east for me, typically ended with an attitude of, “Oh, just anything at all, please.” Nice breakfasts, though. 3. Again as with what seems most budget hotels in Italy, there were no USB sockets in (our) room. Bring your own USB travel adaptor.
The staff were tops; the beds and pillows very comfy. Room arrangement, though a bit snug, was well laid out and tastefully decorated. Very nice (and very large) front-and-centre-panoramic roof terrace. (Do breakfast up there!) The HSF is no golden palace; but I have an affinity for hotels that have obviously done the most with what the architects had to work with—and here it shows. Very nice overall decor, soft on the eye, with a lobby you would want to just spend time in. Unbeatable location—with a HUGE and very pleasant (“skilfully unkempt”) park, a mile long(!) just two-minute’s walk away. NO hills! Highly inviting, spacious promenade. We plan on returning.

United Kingdomsmall bathroom, it was fine for a week ,clean plenty of hot water powerful shower.
The location is great facing the sea close to everything. Station is a 25 min walk. Bus stop is short walk will take you to Forte Di Marmi for the famous Sunday Market ( check times 1st) Staff are really good, helpful, friendly and know their jobs. Breakfast is good, it's a buffet but you are not allowed to help yourself , it's a" point at it "and they bring it to your table! bit odd , am sure there is a reason, but the staff are charming and nothing too much trouble,it has everything you need . There is a roof terrace with a great view. We stayed mid May weather wasn't fantastic, it was handy to grab a couple of minutes sun up there ! Opposite is Elizabetta beach with a nice lunch menu, but do go around the back streets for less expensive meals.
